Heating Up

As we approach mid-July, despite anxiety over a sputtering economy and recalcitrant unemployment numbers, some more promising developments are now in process. Any day, a new interim senator from West Virginia is likely to be appointed, which will help the Democrats reach the unjustifiably high threshold of 60 votes on a number of issues. Moreover, Senator Scott Brown (R- MA) has now promised to vote for the financial reform bill, making its passage imminent. Meanwhile, the latest maneuverings in the Gulf of Mexico seem to be bringing BP’s nightmare oil gusher under control for the first time since the explosion on April 20. And finally, the Senate Judiciary Committee is set to confirm Elena Kagan and move the nomination to the full Senate.

As previously predicted, due to this month’s Jupiter station sextile Obama’s Moon (3Gemini21) and square the US Venus (3Cancer06), as well as semisquare Obama’s Ascendant (18Aquarius03), July is bringing some successes and optimism to our beleaguered president. Nonetheless, the undercurrent of relentless criticism, general dissatisfaction, negativity, and the pressing array of challenges continue due to the waxing final crossing of Saturn square Obama’s Venus (1Cancer47), peaking on August 10; the nearly exact progression of Obama’s Mercury square to his natal Saturn (25Capricorn20), exact on August 5; and the upcoming Saturn/Pluto square in hard aspect to US Venus (3Cancer06), already building but felt most acutely from August 12 through August 23. As Jupiter begins to separate and Saturn tightens its grip during the first three weeks of August, it seems probable that the stress level will again significantly escalate on a number of fronts.

Events between July 28 and August 4 in many parts of the world are likely to be volatile, upsetting, and potentially violent. Mars will oppose Uranus (00Aries20) and conjunct Saturn (00Libra48) from July 28 through July 31. It will then oppose Jupiter (3Aries10) and square Pluto (3Capricorn11) from August 2 to August 4. Dramatic events resulting from these aspects are likely to be followed by severe strain for a few weeks due to the Saturn/Pluto square (2Libra55, 2Capricorn55), August 12 to August 23. Those with the very early degrees of the cardinal signs are likely to feel these very disruptive and powerful transits quite strongly, including countries with these degrees prominent in their charts. Although it would be impossible to attempt a complete list of all those affected by these transits, a few notable examples are worth mentioning.

Just as the progressed Mercury square Saturn peaks in the early days of August in President Obama’s chart, transiting Saturn will make its last pass square his Venus through August 10. Pluto will be sesquiquadrate his Ascendant through August 10, while Saturn will sesquisquare his Ascendant (18Aquairus03) from August 12 through August 22. Taken together, these configurations suggest Obama will be dealing with considerable pressures and difficulties through the first three weeks of August.

In the US chart, the Mars/Pluto square of the first days of August will be in a very close hard aspect to US Venus, just as transiting Saturn moves to conjunct the US MC (1Libra53) for the final crossing from August 1 through August 11. This suggests some kind of dramatic event in very late July or early August that impacts US interests in the world and about which our capacity and resources to fully respond are somewhat constrained. In addition, the building Saturn/Pluto square will be in an almost exact hard aspect to US Venus from August 12 through August 23. Pluto has been opposite US Venus since Obama’s inauguration and Saturn has been in a square with US Venus since November 2009. Combined, they have brought a period of profound anxiety and pessimism in the past eight months (terrorism, oil spill, wars, economy) that is likely to intensify during the first three weeks of August before subsiding somewhat thereafter. When Pluto moves away from the opposition to Venus in late October, another layer of the anxiety will recede.

In Pakistan, transiting Uranus has been stationary on or near natal Mars (00Cancer10) since early May 2010. As of July 5, with Uranus now retrograde and moving back toward the exact square, the tensions, violence, and rebellious anger are building once again through August 7. The first deadly attack of this transit happened on July 9 when the activating aspect was transiting Mercury trine Uranus. The Mars transit of July 28 to July 30 is likely to be a very strong trigger to this explosive and disruptive transit of Uranus square to Pakistan’s Mars and may signify another round of very deadly violence.

Another nation that may be agitated by the volatile Mars/Uranus opposition of 7/28 to 7/30 is Israel. Using a 4:32 PM birth time, the Ascendant is 00Scorpio17, quincunx the transiting Uranus station from early May through early August. The May 31 attack on the aid flotilla came just as transiting Jupiter moved to a one-degree orb conjunct transiting Uranus, thereby strengthening that planet’s proclivity for sudden, unexpected events or actions that transform conditions in a moment. The Mars transit of July 28 to July 30 will also trigger the Uranus transit during its final, most potent days (through August 3) quincunx Israel’s Ascendant, suggesting some unexpected, dramatic, and possibly violent events with a transformative impact. The Mars/Pluto square which follows from August 2 through August 4 will trigger the Pluto transit quincunx Israel’s Midheaven (3Leo10) and suggests the possibility of an aggressive, diplomatic power struggle that follows the initial incident.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of those nations which are vulnerable to the stressful impact of so many planets coming together in tight, hard aspects between July 28 and August 4. Care should be taken by everyone during a time when accidents are more likely and angry outbursts can do lasting harm. It is certainly a time when the pot will be stirred and conditions will shift quickly. An agile and calm response from world leaders would be beneficial.

What happened to all the comments?

Hi,

I’m supposed to be at a conference in Orlando the last week of July, and I’ve had a few odd feelings about the trip. Like it’s not an issue because something will happen, and I won’t go. Had the same kind of feeling earlier in the year when I was supposed to go to Nashville and the floods came. Didn’t go.

I thought maybe the Florida trip would get cancelled because of something to do with the oil spill, maybe pollution levels in the air or something like that, but now I just don’t know. Had been feeling better about the trip lately and starting to do more to get ready for it. At some point, I just didn’t do anything for the Nasvhille trip, knew that wouldn’t happen. So now I’m completely up in the air about Orlando.

I thought that too until I realized we are in a brand new thread!

Oh!! :!:

This story is very interesting with regard to the hard aspects hitting the US, Pakistan, and Israel toward the end of the month. What of Iran?

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/14/world/middleeast/14iran.html?hp

And back to the last thread, RE: tiredness. I have been slammed with extreme fatigue since last Friday. Thought it was my cycle. But then heard from my brother and my mother that they were both excessively tired (and had headaches all weekend). Definitely felt like the eclipse. I’ve often heard that New Moons knock you out even more than Full ones do, which seems counter-intuitive. Alas, this was a butt-kicker!

Very powerful Nancy. Oy.

I didn’t mention it, but the president of Yemen has the Sun at 00 Aries, but I couldn’t find much in the country’s chart (after a rather cursory examination). Still…

I have previously discussed that we could see a financial hit around this time as well. Nothing stands out for Iran.

This hasn’t been given much play but I thought it important. It was in today’s WP. The orthodox in Israel are moving to not allow converts from reform or conservative Judaism to be considered Jews, thereby denying them citizenship rights. This is the kind of thing that could drive a further wedge between the orthodox and the rest of Jewry and possibly make the latter less supportive of Israel. Just my opinion, but I believe it is important and could backfire against the right wing.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/12/AR2010071203071.html

The bill “delegitimizes most of North American Jewry” and brings back the question of “who has the authority to determine someone’s Jewish identity,” Wernick added, noting that 85 percent of American Jewry is affiliated with non-Orthodox branches of Judaism.

Oy vey, Oy vey, Oy vey!!! Alright already with the tightening Cardinal T=square. I could plotz!

I’d forgot to even mention the headaches - pow! right in my Third Eye as soon as I lie down at night and try to go to sleep. I keep reminding myself that I signed on for this crystaline upgrade / Ascension process and try to feel blessed. Chocolate helps a lot.

Nancy-what Bette said-sobering indeed.
Thank you for at least supporting us in consciousness. I need to say that I am sick of hearing the Republicans complain about Obama and the conditions in which his administration must function and I do look forward to some let up.
I also am weary with neck pains and headaches and I want to lay around all the time. I go out and walk and enjoy it but come home to lay around some more.
One other ridiculous aside: I don’t think the Feds have anything on the ex-governor of Illinois. I am on his side and I believe he was criucified so that the Repubs could get in power there. He may be an ass–le but He is my kind of ass–le.

GOP candidate: ‘Obama taking away your chance to find God’

http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0713/gop-candidate-obama-chance-find-god/

Some of the comments after the article are great!

I am glad to see Obama play hardball and issue a new moratorium on all drilling….Take that you oil drenched judges!

Lot’s of whining from the drilling industry on NPR today about loss of jobs. No one can think beyond oil yet. Everybody is pulling up their equipment…headed to South America to drill there.

Very interesting article by Peter Beinart about Obama.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-07-12/peter-beinart-on-why-liberals-are-down-on-obama/

I keep meaning to point out that July 29 is when the Arizona law goes into effect. If the injunction doesn’t happen and it goes into effect, we may see lots of demonstrations, pro and con.

Cymela, I’ve begun swimming a few times a week (some weeks a little more) and I also get massages when possible (or I get Myron to give me short neck & shoulder massages - he’s pretty good) –

But the swimming has kicked me up a notch - I just feel like I’m in better shape overall - no major shift but somehow I a bit higher on the physical health and well being plateau. So, if there is something you like as I do swimming (and I’m by no means an athlete) such as yoga, stretchingi - I encourage you to do it when you’re ready — slowly, gently, building up very gradually if necessary.

Let’s all send Clymela light and healing :-) and I also hope those with low energy are feeling more rested and rejuvenated.

Also sending Light and Healing Energy to Virginia, Stefanie, Mystical Chick, Will, and anyone else.

Nancy, I have been to Israel recently and most people there dislike the Orthodox Jews (who are a minority) for many reasons - that bill is not going to fly.

Will, you crack me up with your Yiddish expressions - such a funny language.

In addition to headaches and extreme exhaustion — I’ve been eating everything that’s not tied down, especially sweets. I guess that’s just the Cancer energy, but my boyfriend is suspicious that I’m pregnant, because he can’t keep me away from the ice cream and cookies lately…

Stefanie - You may have low blood sugar. Try giving up all the sweets, go easy on the carbs, and eat more protein. See if you have more energy.

Thank you for the healing energy Sharon! I agree with you — there is a huge schism between the orthodox and us regular ol’ Jews, reform or totally unaffiliated “cultural Jews”. Even here in NYC, the ultra-religious don’t recognize us as part of their tribe. It’s so ironic that they’re a minority in Israel, they don’t serve in the army, and yet they think they deserve the privilege of making these kinds of decisions for the vast majority of citizens. The hubris!

Also Sharon, mazel on your husband’s run for office — we need more awesome progressives running things! Are you in NOLA proper? I think he really stands a chance, given the situation right now.

Nancy — if only I had even an ounce of willpower, I’d cut out the sweets in a heartbeat. I’m a veggie for many years — have looked at being totally vegan, raw, etc. I do eat mainly organic foods and wish wish WISH I could give up the sweets, but my god, I find it impossible, especially in the jungle-like weather we’ve been having. Ice cream is totally irresistible, as is iced coffee. At least I use stevia and agave to sweeten stuff I make at home. But yes, I have to lighten the carbs and focus on the proteins — thank you for the reminder! :>)

Starlight,

I had to read this article twice, some parts 3 times, to realize what a great dialog article such as this provoke, if people will read them and contemplate it’s historic resemblances….I find it hopeful.

Sharon:

Thank you for your gift of healing energy - it is much appreciated! And I agree with you about Yiddish - such wisdom combined with much humor.

Stefanie:

I have struggled with low blood-sugar for a long time, and I know what you mean about sweets. Protein really is key to keeping things level, along with exercise, but it does not take much outside stress to knock me off the rails and then all I want is sugar.

Re ‘pregnancy’. Why has no one ever invented pickle-flavored ice cream? For that matter, why did no one ever name a girdle ‘Divinity’? as in ‘there is a Divinity that shapes out ends, rough-hew them how we will’. Enquiring minds want to know . .. . … . .. .

Yes, NOLA proper, Steph. Myron will only have a chance if he and his advisers can pull things together fairly quickly. If God wants it to, it will all come together in a certain way. He may not win but he has a great opportunity to raise awareness if his message is clear and makes sense to the regular folk. He also has to be conversant on all issues so people know he can function in the House - some homework to do there. We spent last night with the districts Dem Party, along with the State chair and director of the party. They like Myron and like his message. They had some suggestions, etc. They know he’s green in more than one way when it comes to this race. He’s spend about 8-9 hours today with the last guy who ran against the current Republican encumbent in our district. In my mind, I think the main issue vis a vi the oil spill should be to find a way to grow and strengthen other industry here in La so we can slowly move away from oil — preferably green industry!

Been listening to you all and can relate. I’ve been so tired, usually I’m running around between jobs and the gym, pilates and tred-milling and such. But Sunday was so low energy and Monday..laying around watching the tube. Oh yes and eating so much yesterday and today especially strawberry and peach jam on french. I’ve gone through a bottle of Alma’s homemade jam from the Farmer’s Market. It’s the only thing that gets me off the couch well except the three dogs who want walks. But been too tired for more than one walk even missed my Rumba class tonight. Well hope we all get our mojo back soon, personally I don’t want to miss another Rumba opportunity-never know who one will meet! And yes it is depressing to see Obama under such pressure and going gray for us when he could be having more fun with lovely Michelle while he is still young enough to do so. Will be better when August is over for us all here I hope.

Do not miss Rachel Maddow tonight. She is doing an incredible interview with Richard Holbrooke.

Here is the first part of the interview:

I find that if I fill up with proteins first thing in the morning, I crave sweets much less, almost rarely now. But I’m not vegan. I eat 3 eggs for breakfast every day. I am severely hypoglycemic without my protein. (I also have my own very happy hens.)

I can’t do enough fast enough, but I’m squeaking by here.

I can’t do enough fast enough, but I’m squeaking by here.
Energy is up & downish.
Re: sweets low blood sugar………..years ago I had a friend who HAD to go on a hypoglycemic diet. I decided to keep him company ( & wanted to lose some weight).
At the time I was commuting between Philly & DC frequently, leaving me less time for meals. I carried dried fruit & nuts in the car at all times, snacking on them every 2 hours or so. It worked like a charm, I lost 10 lb., had lots of energy and no sweets cravings. ( My normal travel gambit having been, a Hershey bar + coffee for energy)
Peanuts are very good being a legume not a nut. Disregard the scare stories about nuts being fattening………..If they aren’t preceded by a potatos & gravy or big fattening sandwich meal, they’re OK. Cashews are a big staple in my diet still, & with an increase in exercise I have lost 30 lb. this year.!

Great food advice today. Protein in the morning, and fruit and nuts to keep going is great nourishment, and energizing. I would also add some cheese.

Study shows outback soaking up CO2

A new study has found around 6 million square kilometres of Australian outback is also a massive carbon bank, storing huge amounts of atmospheric pollution.

The area, from the central west of New South Wales to Cape York, across the Top End and down to the Wheat Belt in Western Australia, absorbs more than 9.5 billion tonnes of carbon.

Patrick O’Leary, from the Pew Environment group which commissioned the study, says if managed properly it could reduce carbon pollution by 5 per cent by 2050.

“Right now our estimates are there’s about 9.7 billion tonnes of carbon stored in the trees and plants of the outback so that’s in the roots, stems and leaves and so on,” he said.

“About another well over a billion tonnes can be stored between now and 2050 if we can put into practice better land management.”

Poll: Texans Fed Up with Education Wars

Today the Texas Freedom Network Education Fund released results from a statewide survey of what Texans think about the intersection of politics and religion with public schools. We released results from two questions back in May. One showed overwhelming support for putting teachers and scholars, instead of politicians on the State Board of Education, in charge of writing curriculum and textbook requirements. Another revealed that nearly 7 in 10 Texans agree that separation of church and state is a key principle of the Constitution.

Hell Has Come to South Louisiana
by Dahr Jamail

http://dahrjamailiraq.com/hell-has-come-to-south-louisiana#more-1857

Clint Guidry is a shrimper from Lafitte, Louisiana. As we sit together, he shows me a picture of his house with 18 inches of water in it as a result of Hurricane Ike in 2008.

In his deep voice, he looks me in the eye and says, “My fear is repeating this situation, but with this water with oil on top of it.”

Guidry represents all the shrimpers in Louisiana, given that he is the Shrimp Harvester Representative on the Louisiana Shrimp Task Force that was created by the state’s governor.

Prior to this fishing season, he, like the rest of Louisiana’s fishermen, was excited for good season, with the price of shrimp per pound finally weighing more in their favor.

“We were primed for a great season,” Guidry says, “And it all got taken away.”

Before they could do this, they had to bring down the middle class by outsourcing manufacturing and other well paying jobs, and import cheap labor to fill the jobs that once paid Americans. Now here we are.

Nancy Altman of http://socialsecurity-works.org/, as heard on Counterspin, FAIR’s radio show:

The President’s Deficit Commission, set up by executive order by the President, also stated that
its report was due December 1, conveniently after the November elections. If 14 out of the 18
on the commission reach an agreement-which is sure to happen, since most of them hate Social Security (even Andy Stern’s now saying that SS should invest in the stock market)-there will be
swift action on it, since Reid/Pelosi have already agreed to bring it up for a fast-track vote in the
lame duck Congress, so that it can take place without any public input.

The Attack of the Real Black Helicopter Gang: The IMF Is Coming for Your Social Security

A few years back, there was a fear in some parts about black UN helicopters that were supposedly taking part in the planning of an invasion of the United States. While there was no foundation for this fear, there is basis for concern about the attack of another international organization, the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Last week, the IMF told the United States that it needs to start getting its budget deficit down. It put cutting Social Security at the top of the steps that the country should take to achieve deficit reduction. This one is more than a bit outrageous for two reasons.

First, the IMF deserves a substantial share of the blame for the economic crisis that gave us big deficits in the first place. The IMF is supposed to oversee the operations of the international financial system. According to standard economic theory, capital is supposed to flow from rich countries like the United States to poor countries to finance their development. In other words, the United States should be having a trade surplus, which would correspond to the money that we are investing in poor countries to finance their development.

However, the IMF messed up its management of financial crises so badly in the last 15 years that poor countries decided that they had to accumulate huge amounts of currency reserves in order to avoid ever being forced to deal with the IMF. This meant that capital was flowing in huge amounts in the wrong direction. One result of this reverse flow was that the United States ran a huge trade deficit instead of a trade surplus.

Thank you Sharon and everyone else who gave me suggestions and Light when I posted about dragging my ass. :) I’m much, much better now so not sure what was going on with me.

Doing my best to only peep at news online (and here) to get an overview of what’s happening but realized how much it pulls my vibration down. I think I’ve known it for a while but am really seeing it in action. So, taking a breather from the intensity and working on my intuitive practice (so much web/marketing stuff to learn and do!) - that’s what fills me up and gets me motivated.

I will always check in here because the posts and the comments are in a much different vibration than they are elsewhere.

Thanks for holding that vibration, Nancy!

As a life long “hypoglycemic” (diagnosed at age 10 to the doctor’s surprise) turning diabetic with menopause I want to log in regarding the importance of eating high protein in the morning and then relying on high protein snacks of nuts with small amounts of fruit although for the true hypoglycemic/diabetic the fruit should be fresh and in small quantities such as half an apple or a small peach or half a cantaloupe. One still eats meals but they are smaller and need to focus on fresh vegetables with tiny amounts of starchy things. And remember that this is a chemical change and the real power and strength will not be there immediately but will show up after some days-worth the discipline.
I consider white sugar and white flour to be drugs much like cocaine and pain meds. These substances are deadly although some folk do not have the genetic makeup that causes the type of reaction I have had.

Pat C.,

I wonder if there is any correlation between this finding and the fact that the hole in the ozone is widely believed by scientists to be above the continent of Australia. I wonder if it really is containing that carbon - or is it leaking it at monstrous rates. Just a thought.

Obama has turned out to be no better then bush both parties are just as bad as one another and bama is in over his head and i am looking forward to this democrtaic bloodbath in november and i voted for him and it is politics as usual for him he lied he said he is above politics he is no better then bush sorry to say how you people can support him on here is beyond me i’m done!!!

They aren’t the same Patrick, but there are problems.

(pats Patrick on the head)

There, there Sparky. Go outside and breathe some fresh air and have a milkshake. Things will look better after that.

Patrick: Looking forward to a Democratic bloodbath? Why on earht? Where’s the logic in that? You can’t seriously believe that getting more of the Right Wing into power can do anything else but make matters dramatically, shatteringly, tragically worse.

Oh heck, I was thinking that it would be great to make the Republican party so small is could be flushed down the drain of the bathtub.

Where did I hear that before?

Obama’s day: “President Barack Obama is discussing legislative priorities with Democratic congressional leaders for a second day Wednesday,” the AP writes. “The president met with the Senate Democratic leadership on Tuesday. On Wednesday it’s the House Democrats’ turn. Obama is getting the meetings in before Congress takes its August break.”

Yesterday, “President Barack Obama used a Tuesday meeting with Senate Democratic leaders to urge action on three agenda items in the coming weeks as part of a larger messaging strategy on the economy, the top issue on voters’ minds leading to the November elections,” Roll Call says.

http://www.rollcall.com/news/48319-1.html

One of my main problems is that disasterous healthcare bill. He did nothing about cost it was all access and making people buy health insurance is illegal which obama will find out soon!!!

The way the democratic congres passed this tarsh is disgraceful they used reconciliation which obama railed against when he was a senator.

Now i know the republicans have used unhanded tactics also for instance they disgusted me with the terry schivo in 2005 made me sick so that is why i say both parties are just as bad and that i am done with obama but this november i will vote republican. The democrats need to be punished anyways i think it is bad for one party rule.

We need both parties in this country

Patrick; name me 4 Republicans who will make things dramatically, change for the better……..

What were expecting Obama to do? I remember him clearly saying it is up to us to get the job of real change done.

Having a tantrum and voting in Republicans is not a sane response to the frustration we all feel about our political realities at the moment.

Ralphee Finn describes the current energy well

http://www.aquariumage.com/vibration.html

Rumor and hearsay clog the psychic switchboard this week and next, as each day moves us closer to the fifth and final exact Saturn/Uranus opposition on July 26. And because the atmosphere is so crowded with situations in need of resolution, lots of people – not just astrologers – are making predictions about what’s gonna happen next. Whether you are positioned on the right or the left, the top or the bottom, with the believers or the non-believers, it’s likely you’re feeling as if something – anything – has got to give. The unrelenting intensity of recent months is coalescing into a communal Henny Penny moment: No matter what your perspective the sky is falling.

And then for some factual info………..
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-creamer/dirty-little-secrets-the_b_645404.html
The Republicans have a set of dirty little (actually not so little) secrets they don’t what you to know — and certainly don’t want you to think about when you go to the polls in November.

And the fact is that some of those secrets could provide Democrats with silver bullets this fall. But first let’s recall the context……………….

There are many compelling points here, but Creamer misses two real biggies:

1. Republicans are horrible for the stock market. The average person on the street would probably say that the GOP is better for the market, but even with the global nervousness over European government debt, the U.S. market, as measured by the S&P 500 index, is up more in the 18 months since Obama became president than THE PRIOR 40 YEARS OF REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATIONS COMBINED. And it’s not even close. The reason for this is the tendency for the GOP to promote deregulation and abdicate their duty to provide oversight of financial markets and businesses (sort of like a neglectful parent) periodically results in economic distress caused by dysfunctional businesses, industries, and markets self-destructing. The S&L crisis in the late 80s and the implosions of the mortgage industry in 2007 and Wall Street in 2008 are more recent examples of this.

2. The egregious national debt, which now exceeds $13 trillion ($119,000+ per taxpayer!) is almost entirely a GOP creation. In fact, since Clinton was able to turn the $350 billion annual deficit he inherited into annual surpluses, one could argue that the total national debt when Reagan became president, when it was less than $1 trillion, could have been turned into multi-trillion dollar surpluses if not for the fact that we had 5 terms of reckless GOP administrations. See the Bureau of Public Debt for the history of federal debt.

It’s my own fault for starting the troll feeding. So sorry. Patrick’s been here before, if I’m not mistaken and pretty much saying the same thing.

(pats him on the head again and kicks his butt out our door. Vote repug if you wish. It’s (still for now) a free country.)

Actually, the health care plan should end up helping the economy and will decrease the debt. A lot of what Obama is doing hasn’t borne fruit yet but it will. Patrick, you’re entitled to your opinion but please don’t reply to me….Thanks.

Pat
This quote from your above Huffpost article….. is so true!

“In effect they want the election to be a referendum on whether the Democrats have mopped and swept fast enough cleaning up the mess that they created.”

I am so not used to troll posts here.

That health care plan offers me a chance to spend $350 a month for insurance, which will put me out of a house, so until I have to, there is NO way I’m signing up for anything.

Then i will look at the price difference between the fine for not having insurance, and the cost of the insurance. I was previously uninsurable - cancer survivor - big deal. Health insurance will not pay my massage therapist, acupuncturist or herbal health store.

Creating Food Sovereignty for Small-Scale Farmers

http://www.truth-out.org/creating-food-sovereignty-small-scale-farmers61345

Food sovereignty is about communities’, states’ and unions’ rights to shape their own food and agricultural policy.

That’s why La Via Campesina, the organization that really invented the term, says that one of the visions behind food sovereignty is that food sovereignty is about an end to all forms of violence against women. That may sound something not at all to do with food, but of course, if we’re serious about people being able to make choices about how their food comes to them and what the food system looks like, then the physical and the structural violence to which women are exposed in the home, in the economy and in society, all need to be tackled. Otherwise we will continue with a situation in which 60 percent of the people going hungry today are women or girls.

Food sovereignty is about democracy in our food system so that everyone gets to eat - industrial agriculture involves a food system run by technocrats for profit. At the end of the day, you can have one or the other -not both.

Mystical Chick,

ROFLMAO - terrific!

Sharon,

Hear, hear!

Will and Mystical Chick:

Its the lack of ounctuation that drives me up the wall!!

;-)

I mean PUNCTUATION!!

(Spelling well also helps).

Here’s a diary I found interesting from Kos, about real-life experience with the HCR Bill:

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/7/13/884120/-President-Obama-and-Democrats-saved-my-wifes-life.

Well,Starlighters, I love it when you come to our defense-wheee! I am looking forward to being out from under the harsh aspects to Obama’s chart so that there is some good news for a change although probably not until after the elections. The Republicans have absolutely nothing to offer but character assassination of Obama.

Lunagardener, the Ralphee Finn quote is dead on: “Whether you are positioned on the right or the left, the top or the bottom, with the believers or the non-believers, it’s likely you’re feeling as if something – anything – has got to give. The unrelenting intensity of recent months is coalescing into a communal Henny Penny moment: No matter what your perspective the sky is falling.”

Personally, I’m reading Nancy’s blog while taking a momentary break from helping my husband send out more job applications, which feels like a repetitive exercise in futility.

Break over, now back to our regularly scheduled programming! :-)

Pat C - Great article by Robert Creamer. He sums it up nicely.

starlight,

As much as I hope for a more progressive financial team to replace Geithner and Summers, it is Robert Gates at Defense whom I consider the most dangerous trojan horse within the Obama administration.

Born Sept. 25, 1943, no time of birth. Three planet conjunction of Sun and Neptune at 1 degree Libra with Mercury at 29 degrees Virgo all square Saturn at 26 degrees Gemini.

There’s no way he is not affected by the Cardinal Cross. I want you to lie to me and tell me he is out the door soon.

Fe,

Oh, those pesky punctuations!

thrasybulus - I don’t know about Gates retiring anytime soon. But what is interesting is that he has Saturn conjunct his Sun/Neptune from mid-July through August 10 or so, just during the difficult period I have been focusing on. This suggests trouble in one of our wars is likely. Could be trouble with our next phase of pullout from Iraq, or some big bad explosion in Afghanistan. But Gates being under Saturn during this period points to an impact on our military.

As of march 2011, he will have Uranus opposite his Sun/Neptune, likely more drama related to the military.

Cheney doesn’t have a pulse, as of this past week!! They put a new device into him to keep him alive, and now he doesn’t have a pulse. He is now truly Darth Cheney.

Starlight,

Yes, truly the archetypal lifeless vampire. I wonder why we conjured him up in our collective unconscious? Do we just always need a Dark Force, just for the sake of shadowing and contrast?

Gads! Lets make a up a new one and trade this old model in.

Cheney runs on batteries by day, and is plugged in at night. AND he has no pulse. That is just so weird…and creepy. Yes, Nancy…Darth Cheney…wow. I like your question, Will. I’m going to think about that.

Thanks, Will.

Gypsy, you may qualify for subsidized health care.

sometimes I struggle with keeping good thoughts…
In darkness I’d like to toss creepy Darth Cheney far off-shore into the oil/dispersant toxic soup he conjured, and see if he can swim to the Louisiana shore.

To cheer everyone up from the doldrums, some hilarious, gossipy political Schadenfreude from Gail Collins:

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/15/opinion/15collins.html?hp

Levi Johnston has proved to be the only person in the world who can make me feel sympathy for Sarah Palin.

Anybody know when the Finanical Reform bill comes to the Senate Floor today?

Scott Brown may be wimping out after being deluged by tea party phone calls. Not sure where financial reform is going now.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/14/dems-see-hope-without-bro_n_646654.html

I heard it is a rumour. The posting it seems maybe false.

Gypsi-I just want to say that you probably will qualify for subsidized health care from what you have reported here. Don’t know your details but I did recently refer a friend to Medi-Cal as a self-employed disabled adult-she has a small company and doesn’t make a lot of money but thought that she was going to lose Medi-Cal eligiblity which was not so. There will be greater breaks for people in the new program. If paying for health care would render you homeless it sounds like you will be eligible even if you don’t want the coverage.
The news from Chaney is shocking-the doctor reporting on TPM said that he wouldn’t wish this on any one. I wonder how many people on the Gulf will die of heart failure because they cannot afford top of the line care and are not on the list to get heart transplants-just saying.

herald - I hope so. We are now in the territory of the Saturn/Uranus opposition through 7/27, which I have barely talked about this time. But it is a real push/pull energy.

OOPS!! I meant Cheney-had a friend whose name was Chaney-drat spelling.

According to TPM, the vote is imminent and three GOP are with it.

http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/news/2010/07/after_fits_and_starts_bank_bill_ready_for_passage.php?ref=fpa

In Chris Dodd’s chart, which I wrote about a while ago as the key to predicting financial reform’s passage, he has had Saturn stationary opposite his Ascendant for a few months, exact on July 13 and now separating. This to me signals that the passage of the legislation is imminent.

I checked NYT and other new agencies which is in line with TPM

An interesting piece of archetypal insight from astrologer Jessica Murray: “palin” is Latin for “backwards” as in palindrome. Sarah the insufferable rifle-toting wolf assassin pinhead is back in the news……you betcha!

I really try to keep hope alive that Pres. Obama is really on our side, but decisions and appointments like this constantly disheartens me. I can’t find anything good in the latest update from David Sirota:

Liz Fowler, a key staffer for U.S. Sen. Max Baucus who helped draft the federal health reform bill enacted in March, is joining the Obama administration to help implement the new law…
Fowler headed up a team of 20-some Senate Finance Committee staffers who helped draft the bill in the Senate. She was Baucus’ top health care aide from 2001-2005 and left that job in 2006 to become an executive at WellPoint, the nation’s largest private insurer. She was vice president of public policy at WellPoint, helping develop public-policy positions for the company. In 2008, she rejoined Baucus to work on health reform legislation.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-sirota/obama-hires-fmr-wellpoint_b_646874.html

Gypsy, you may qualify for subsidized health care.

I’m in Texas, I rarely qualify for anything. So I don’t waste my time applying. Making less than I make now I couldn’t get free lunches for my daughter when she was younger.

Oh, No: Jeb Bush…for President?
Has anyone looked into the astrology for this horrific possibility?
Huffington has a piece up: BUSH AGAIN!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/15/the-bush-revival-how-jeb_n_647403.html

Yesterday, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce — representing large corporations — proposed what it’s calling an economic recovery plan. Take a look.

- Privatize Social Security
- Cut taxes for the rich
- Log the national forests
- Expand offshore gas and oil drilling
- Privatize highways and waterways

They are already going after all levels of fire and police.

Liber-I have always “known” that Jeb was the family’s first choice to run for President. I have read that he has the same sex issues that “dogged” Clinton and that the family has hired agencies to clean him up so that they can send him out. also, he is much more charming than George-he is smarter.

This is long but worth reading!
Mark Your Calendar for August 4th

Since his historic election, President Obama has been inundated with a barrage of venomous criticism. From the first cries calling for the failure of his administration by Vitter and Limbaugh to the media critique of his handling of the BP oil spill, his critics are unequivocal in telling us that he can do no right.

In the face of contrary evidence, “Birthers” rant that the President is not a US citizen and should be removed from office. Once closed by Senator Barry Goldwater, the “father” of modern conservatism, the Republican leadership has opened the doors of their party to the John Birch Society and other reactionary extremists. With cries of wanting to “take back OUR country” and “we want OUR America back,” the Tea Partiers clearly tell us that there is no room for his (The President’s) kind in their America – at least not in a position of leadership or Presidential Authority. Who remembers someone ever disrespectfully calling out “You Lie!” to either of the Bushes, Reagan, Ford or Nixon in the chambers of the US House of Representatives or someone openly carrying a loaded weapon to one of their political events?

For years our borders have been as porous as cheesecloth, but suddenly critics tell us the Administration is failing to live up to its responsibility to quell the flow of immigrants from our southern border. Without questioning the impact of our non-existent northern border on illegal immigration, reactionary responses from municipal to state governments tell us that if “Obama won’t do anything, we’ll stop these Mexicans from coming here.”

Living up to expectations, the actions of Fox News have denigrated from constant criticism of President Obama to their appeal, by the likes of Beck, to the basest elements in society to “revolt” against the oppressor Obama or to “spill the blood of tyrants to water the tree of Liberty .” Disappointingly, most mainstream media just turned its attention and focus to President Obama’s critics, while excluding a balanced assessment of the political landscape.

That having been said, there are millions out here who support the reasoned and measured approach of the President. We understand from the evidence he presents daily that he has an extraordinary, almost encyclopedic understanding of issues impacting this nation and the world. We see him lauded by his peers around the world as a “thinker” or as a no-nonsense leader who understands, and can articulate, the positions of friends and adversaries alike. While not addressing or achieving goals the way the media “puppeteers” would choose, HE GETS THE JOB DONE!!!

An overwhelming number of Americans elected President Obama and millions still support him, but too many of us do so silently. If the progressive agenda we elected the President to achieve is to be successful, we must help the President achieve it. We cannot allow the media to report from negative positions without challenge. Just as others demonstrate their hatred and disrespect of President Obama, we must actively demonstrate our support.

We call on ALL who support President Obama to take action. On August 4th, the President’s birthday, we ask those who support him to wear any campaign item from the Presidential election as a demonstration of our ongoing support. Bring out your old campaign paraphernalia.

If you don’t have caps, buttons or tee shirts, wear a red, white, and blue tri-color ribbon or clothing on August 4th. If nothing else, this simple demonstration of support for our President will provide a counteraction to the negativity that spews forth daily. We can do this. YES WE CAN. YES WE WILL.

How the Sneaky Hands of the Big Banks Are Working Overtime to Rip You off

The economy is crumbling and consumers are in trouble. So banks are hitting them with $38 billion a year in deceptive fees.

will,

Was your Palin reference from something new by Jessica Murray? I’ve not been able to find it, if so.

Bette,

Great idea. . I will mark my calendar and still have the election buttons to wear. Can you tell me where you got this info? I will spread it around if I can give a source. Thanks!

I love the idea of celebrating and supporting Obama on his birthday - for astrological reasons as well. But, and I’m just throwing this out there to kinda play devil’s advocate — what if the Beck-like haters and detractors use this to once again say he’s a tyrant/dictator like Kim Jong-Il? We don’t celebrate our leaders birthdays in the US, it’s just not our style. Tea partiers and right-wingers like to say that we worship Obama, or at least they did during the election and in the months after. I am slightly worried that they would use this as fodder to prove that we in a fascist regime, as their tiny little racist minds work in unfathomable ways. I wonder if there’s a way to show our support that can’t be used against us this fall. I can just see Beck doing a whole show comparing us to the Germans under Hitler, swearing our allegiance to the regime because we’re wearing some pro-Obama pins on his bday.

What if Cheney is like the Man in Black on Lost, and when he dies his evil spirit will be loosed into the world unless it’s contained on the island? We better send some spiritual warriors in to guard his body in his last throes! :>)

Sorry if you don’t watch Lost — this won’t make much sense…

Senate just passed the Financial Reform Bill

I would like to point out a minor astrological detail. Today, Venus is conjunct Obama’s Pluto, the ruler of his MC. Financial reform passed, a big f***g deal for him getting his agenda through. It may be watered down, but it passed. It is only a day long transit, but still…

From December 2015 to October 2016, the last year of Obama’s second term (I hope), his progressed Venus will conjunct his natal Pluto. This is a similar energy but will last almost a year. This, and solar arc Venus conjunct his natal Uranus, the ruler of his Ascendant, in 2016, suggest he will finish 8 years as a very popular and successful president. Assuming he has a second term, he will be president during the Uranus/Pluto square aspecting US Sun. Dramatic times create great presidencies.

This morning on Amy Goodman’s Democracy Now! I heard the most incredible conversation with Ken Silverman about Arizona. You can listen to it here:
http://www.democracynow.org/
Thanks Nancy for the encouragement to stay hopeful. And yes the passage of the financial reform bill is a big f*****g deal!! No matter what some Democrats have said.

Let’s hope this is true!

Kent Wells, a BP PLC vice president, said at a news briefing that oil stopped flowing into the water at 2:25 p.m. CDT.

Yes, Luna, just heard it on CNN, the oil has stopped!!! They are cautiously not yet declaring victory, giving it 48 hours to see what happens. But wow!!

I caught it on yahoo news - logged in to post it. Hopefully there will not be more spilling. Nancy, what do the stars say?

OH Happy Day - oil stopped gushing and financial reform

To all: the group blog website has crashed. I tried to personalize it too much. But I am going to have it re-installed on it’s own separate site very soon with the help of my ISP, and it will have it’s own truly separate domain.

Meanwhile aquariusmoon.info is still up and running in the other parts, and will be updated this weekend.

When the new site is up, I will be able to give everyone a blog on the site, have real capacity for some uploads, and perhaps their own mailbox with the domain,
aquariusmoon.net.

I’m so pleased about financial reform passing and very happy for our President.

In addition to the hopeful oil plug news…Diane Sawyer just reported the rescued turtle eggs are hatching and swimming into the Atlantic off the coast of Florida, how amazing is that?

Bless the souls that made that happen!

Ezra Klein on financial reform:

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/ezra-klein/2010/07/finreg_vs_wall_street_reform.html

The desire for a bill that does more has obscured a clear picture of a bill that does a lot. “We’ve tended to focus much more on what’s not in the bill than on what is in the bill,” Yglesias says. “What is in the bill is a consumer protection setup that would be considered a major progressive win as a standalone item. What is in the bill is a ‘resolution authority’ that will let future regulators avoid the bailout-or-crisis dynamic that plagued us in 2008. What is in the bill are regulatory tools that even Simon Johnson likes. The bill clarifies lines of regulatory authority and responsibility and should cut down on abusive ‘competitive regulation.’ ”

I’d add a few more major wins. Bringing derivatives onto exchanges and into clearinghouses is a huge victory. In 2007, the over-the-counter — and almost entirely unregulated — derivatives market was worth about $700 trillion in notional value, and regulators had no idea what went where and few firms had serious capital or margin requirements. Those days are over.

A big, big win for Obama.

It’s been a good day for news

Ship junked 200 years ago uncovered at WTC site

NEW YORK (AP) — The ship was buried as junk two centuries ago — landfill to expand a bustling little island of commerce called Manhattan. When it re-emerged this week, surrounded by skyscrapers, it was an instant treasure that popped up from the mud near ground zero.

A 32-foot piece of the vessel was found in soil 20 feet under street level, amid noisy bulldozers excavating a parking garage for the future World Trade Center. Near the site of so many grim finds — Sept. 11 victims’ remains, twisted steel — this discovery was as unexpected as it was thrilling.

Historians say the ship, believed to date to the 1700s, was defunct by the time it was used around 1810 to extend the shores of lower Manhattan.

Kos, “Raw Data,” and the Mainstream Media

http://discuss.epluribusmedia.net/content/kos-raw-data-and-mainstream-media

snip

When kos asked for R2000’s raw data, he made an important and principled demand.

It follows that it’s an even more important and more principled demand that, at long last, the mainstream media consortium that controls the 2004 exit poll raw data release that data for open examination (and other years, as well). These aren’t their election. They belong to the people. We have a right to verify their accuracy.

Kos will have his day in court. He will see the raw data as a result of his law suit filed on July 1. Now it’s time for the people to see the raw data from their elections. Let us determine if the suspicions of election fraud are justified.

But it’s been six years since Representative John Conyers and others requested the exit poll raw data to determine if election fraud was responsible for four more years of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

It is now time to release all of the raw data from all the presidential election exit polls to determine if those who claim to spread democracy throughout the world are actually practicing it at home.

As the National Council on Public Polls said, “public disclosure of all the relevant information about the polls in dispute will provide a solid basis for resolving this controversy.” The council was referring to the kos - R2000 dispute but the same principle applies to exit poll data controlled by the mainstream media.

Nancy how do Jan brewers stars look around july 29th?

Patrick,
For what is worth, you were not deceived because Obama is the same person who campaigned in 2008.

The left was unified when the GOP was in power, now the left has been silenced, and there won’t be another opportunity to change course for a long time. That’s the legacy of the 2008 election. I did not vote for Obama in the primaries or November because I never believed his “change, hope and unity” shtick.

3.6 earth quake this morning at about 5am. It was centered in Germantown Md, and I felt it here at about 5:05. The house rumbled with the earth. It was audible.

Starlight: Good article from Ezra….

Pres. Obama needs a PR manager. He has done many monumental things to put us back on track and receives no credit for it. Accomplishments have been drowned out by Republican spin and lies. This should not be allowed to continue. You have to fight “fire with fire.” Many of our deep-seated problems go back to the Reagan era, then Daddy Bush and on to George Bush…., the GOP has plundered and squandered our assets; People need to know and understand this and be informed that to go back to GOP rule would be to completely make the U.S. a third-world country.

Democrats target midterms with nationwide voter registration drive

Democratic activists are staging a national voter registration drive Saturday, with party organizers canvassing at farmers markets, community festivals and neighborhoods across the country in a concerted effort to expand the electorate by engaging people who do not traditionally vote in off-year elections.

More than 600 events this weekend, orchestrated by Organizing for America, are part of the Democratic National Committee’s $50 million Vote 2010 program designed to attract new voters as well — as those who voted for the first time in the 2008 presidential election — to support Democratic candidates in this November’s midterm elections. OFA launched a Web site, RaiseYourVote.com, that party officials call a “one-stop shop” for voters to register.

22 Statistics That Prove The Middle Class Is Being Systematically Wiped Out Of Existence In America

James - I don’t see a lot in her chart except the building of the Saturn/Pluto square through August on her Sun/Neptune conjunction. Actually, the Pluto square is building now; the Saturn conjunction builds through August, and then the Pluto square builds again through the election and just after. It seems she has the primary in the bag, but August looks very stressful and challenging. Could be the immigration mess. I don’t have her birth time, so I could be missing a lot.

If anyone can figure out the birth date of Ron Johnson, running against Russ Feingold in Wisconsin, I would appreciate it.

Pat C.,

And it so evident now that Geithner needs to go. He’s a weasel, no doubt about it.

I do believe Geithner has gotta go, but here’s a direct statement from Geithner’s aide recommending Warren to the post:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/7/16/883872/-Geithner-via-Barr:-Warren-EXTREMELY-Well-Qualified

Huffpo and anonymous sources…sigh.

Starlight, I seem to recall someone asking you about Elizabeth Warren before but don’t recall your answer. Maybe you didn’t have birthtime.
She is my hero or heroine. I will be so very disappointed if she doesn’t get this position. What do you see for her, pls.? You said things were going to get difficult for Geithner toward the end of the year I believe. Could it be because the lady on the white horse came in and saved the day by slaying Dragon Geithner?

Noelle - I also adore Elizabeth Warren. It is quite possible she will get the job. She is under Saturn square her Sun/Uranus (1Aries) through around August 1, give or take a week depending on birth time. That could be when the Senate is grilling her before a confirmation vote. Otherwise, Jupiter hits the Sun/Uranus in late August and again in January2011, and Uranus will cross it beginning in March 2011: great independence and breaking new ground, unexpected challenges calling for determined and independent thinking, bucking the tide. Something dramatic and creative will be called for in her life. Could be this job. I hope so. She is one of the few really trustworthy people out there, and one of the few in the administration that hasn’t been confused by Neptune of late.

Very interesting article re: the gap between rich and poor in this country (no middle class). Including info. from Yves Smith at Naked Capitalism, FT’s Martin Wolf, Dywer Gunn of Freakonomics and others:

http://mydd.com/2010/7/14/tackling-inequality

….here’s what local reporter Jim Longworth of the Triad Yes Weekly had to say about Hanes’ corporate citizenship in May 2009 when the company announced it was cutting 440 jobs in Forysth County, North Carolina: Last week Hanesbrands announced it was eliminating another 440 jobs from the local workforce, saying the move was caused by “reduced consumer spending… during a bleak economy.” If the situation wasn’t so tragic, I would be doubled over with derisive laughter. Of course consumer spending is down; that’s what happens when people lose their jobs. Of course the economy is bleak; that’s what happens when skanky companies like Hanesbrands keep moving those jobs overseas where they can pay slave wages with no benefits in order to improve the bottom line…
Sara Lee CEO Richard Noll has now eliminated nearly 15,000 jobs in the United States and moved those jobs to countries where he can pay slave wages for the manufacture of underwear that he can then ship back to America and sell to unemployed Hanesbrands workers at higher prices than ever before.
Richard Noll has shut down 30 American plants in the past two years. That’s news. Noll eliminated subsidized medical benefits for retirees, leaving thousands of families without adequate coverage. That’s news. And it’s news when a company says it must make cuts in its workforce, but only makes those cuts here in the US, rather than in Central America or Asia. It wasn’t that long ago when the national news media launched blistering attacks on Kathy Lee Gifford for putting her name on a line of clothing made by slave-wage laborers. Today, the news media is too apathetic to investigate similar abuses by Hanesbrands.
The housing boom and bust was at the center of the crisis. This was an atypical boom and bust in that the up-and-down movement of house prices for the poorest people was much more than the movement for people at the top. Why did the “greedy” bankers suddenly develop a social conscience and start lending to poor people? The answer is that they were guided to lending to the poor by the money directed into low-income housing, much as sharks are drawn to blood. And why did so much money flow to the low-income housing? Because the government was trying to solve a deeper problem — growing income inequality.
The everyday consequence for the middle class is a stagnant paycheck as well as growing job insecurity.

will, apparently now, his Aid is saying that he does not oppose her. Whatever the truth is, his not opposing her is a good thing. There would definitely be blowback.

I was just thinking about the Mars Uranus opposition coming up, and it occurred to me that wildfires- particularly in the rural/urban interface- might be a part of what lies ahead. Here in the West, late spring/early summer rains contributed to heavy growth of underbrush that’s now tinder dry with all the recent heat. I was just thinking this morning that our fire danger is really high and growing higher with each passing day of dry heat; if dry thunderstorms with plenty of lightning roll in toward the end of July/early August as they usually do, we could see major wildfires. Might that be one of the expressions of Mars opposing Uranus in Aries, and then opposing Jupiter in Aries (expansion)?

DPH - Yes. The coming energy, which seems to already be building, is very combustible. Fires, explosions, accidents, attacks, weather upheaval, natural upheavals. etc. Anything is possible. Basically, there is a lot of tension building, creating a lot of anger and upset and unexpected events.

O, yea of little faith…..dig it!

Obama’s Next Act

By Charles Krauthammer
Friday, July 16, 2010

“In the political marketplace, there’s now a run on Obama shares. The left is disappointed with the president. Independents are abandoning him in droves. And the right is already dancing on his political grave, salivating about November when, his own press secretary admitted Sunday, Democrats might lose the House.
I have a warning for Republicans: Don’t underestimate Barack Obama.
Consider what he has already achieved. Obamacare alone makes his presidency historic. It has irrevocably changed one-sixth of the economy, put the country inexorably on the road to national health care and, as acknowledged by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus but few others, begun one of the most massive wealth redistributions in U.S. history.
Second, there is major financial reform, which passed Congress on Thursday. Economists argue whether it will prevent meltdowns and bailouts as promised. But there is no argument that it will give the government unprecedented power in the financial marketplace. Its 2,300 pages will create at least 243 new regulations that will affect not only, as many assume, the big banks but just about everyone, including, as noted in one summary (the Wall Street Journal), “storefront check cashiers, city governments, small manufacturers, home buyers and credit bureaus.”
Third is the near $1 trillion stimulus, the largest spending bill in U.S. history. And that’s not even counting nationalizing the student loan program, regulating carbon emissions by Environmental Protection Agency fiat, and still-fitful attempts to pass cap-and-trade through Congress.
But Obama’s most far-reaching accomplishment is his structural alteration of the U.S. budget. The stimulus, the vast expansion of domestic spending, the creation of ruinous deficits as far as the eye can see are not easily reversed. “

Good catch on the article.

The 2010 Twitter Primary……… that the race for the 2012 nomination will play out in the virtual world and at hyperspeed. For the next 18 months, there will be stories and controversies and entire news cycles (or mini-cycles) in which the candidates deliver their messages but in which no one is actually seen speaking…These new venues aren’t replacements for the old ways. Someone like Mitt Romney still needs to publish columns on the op-ed page of the Washington Post, where it will be read by people who still think Twitter is something birds do in the morning. It just means there are new ways for candidates to compete and push their message—and new ways to measure candidates against one another. Almost nothing matters more than money raised in politics, and as the second quarter comes to a close, the totals are being closely watched. But here’s another list: the Twitter accounts of potential 2012 hopefuls:

Newt Gingrich: 1,308,757 followers, 1,925 tweets
Sarah Palin: 191,164 followers, 347 tweets
Mike Huckabee: 83,297 followers, 1,188 tweets
Tim Pawlenty: 16,464 followers, 235 tweets
Mitt Romney: 14,347 followers, 241 tweets
Haley Barbour: 6,357 followers, 264 tweets

Thank you. Actually my mom says that, with no birth times, Goddard and Brewer each look 50-50 to win the election on Nov 2nd. I believe brewer will win due to the republican leaning year in a fairly solid republican state..

I do not think feingold would win but how would yourate his stars for nov?

Love the pictures of the Obama family. I am glad he took this weekend off and didn’t wait a few more weeks. Wish he would wear shorts and at shirt though. He looks like he just came out of a meeting.

In a deepest recession we’ve had since the 30s, the WH directed Obey to cut food stamps to fund an untested school program that’s not available to all children:

[OBEY] We were told we have to offset every damn dime of [Race To The Top*] new teacher spending]. Well, it ain’t easy to find offsets, and with all due respect to the administration their first suggestion for offsets was to cut food stamps. Now they were careful not to make an official budget request, because they didn’t want to take the political heat for it, but that was the first trial balloon they sent down here. … Their line of argument was, well, the cost of food relative to what we thought it would be has come down, so people on food stamps are getting a pretty good deal in comparison to what we thought they were going to get. Well isn’t that nice. Some poor bastard is going to get a break for a change.

Scientists baffled by unusual upper atmosphere shrinkage

An upper layer of Earth’s atmosphere recently shrank so much that researchers are at a loss to adequately explain it, NASA said on Thursday.

The thermosphere, which blocks harmful ultraviolet rays, expands and contracts regularly due to the sun’s activities. As carbon dioxide increases, it has a cooling effect at such high altitudes, which also contributes to the contraction.

But even these two factors aren’t fully explaining the extraordinary contraction which, though unlikely to affect the weather, can affect the movement of satellites, researchers said.

“This is the biggest contraction of the thermosphere in at least 43 years,” John Emmert of the Naval Research Lab was quoted as saying in NASA news report.

Starlight,
Maybe a person could give her $1,000 donation in exchange for her birth time, but even if I had the money, I wouldn’t do it. Even her voice is offending to me.

Clymela,
I understood from the interview that he used the money from Race to the Top to fund the money to pay teachers that states, like CA would lay off if the states didn’t get any help. He put that help in the war funding bill. I also understand that the WH has promised to veto the war funding bill if the help to the teachers is part of the the bill.

GS was penalized $500 million for billions of fraud that put our economy at risk. The priorities of the administration are not for the workers who are burdened with debt, losing their jobs or having a difficult time for personal reasons. It’s just the way it is.

There are other more important things than roads, but it’s a sign of the times. WSJ reports that counties are returning roads to gravel because there’s no money for paving:

In Michigan, at least 38 of the 83 counties have converted some asphalt roads to gravel in recent years. Last year, South Dakota turned at least 100 miles of asphalt road surfaces to gravel. Counties in Alabama and Pennsylvania have begun downgrading asphalt roads to cheaper chip-and-seal road, also known as “poor man’s pavement.” Some counties in Ohio are simply letting roads erode to gravel.

There is a push on to privatize roads and waterways. I do wonder if this isn’t an incentive for doing just that.

Don’t go for it.

Pat C,
I don’t believe there’s money to be made from back roads of America. If you notice, roads are reverting to gravel in big states with small populations. These sates got more money from the the federal government than they sent to Washington. It’s not a bad thing what’s happening, but its not a good sign. We’re going backwards.

We’ve been going backwards. Ask anyone who’s been traveling out of the country, particularly to the Middle East or Asia. We are way beyond quaint. They don’t want to government to be able to cope with it. They want it all privatized.

Don’t believe me? Watch.

America’s Dilemma: Teachers or Food

snip

Well, months after that report came out, some genius in the Obama Administration, according to a very shrill David Obey, proposed offsetting funds to keep teachers in the schools by cutting food stamps. Said genius wanted to cut these people’s only safety net so Arne Duncan could go on privatizing our schools.

The secretary of Education is whining about the fact he only got 85 percent of the money he wanted .… So, when we needed money, we committed the cardinal sin of treating him like any other mere mortal. We were giving them over $10 billion in money to help keep teachers on the job, plus another $5 billion for Pell, so he was getting $15 billion for the programs he says he cares about, and it was costing him $500 million [in reductions to the Race to the Top program]. Now that’s a pretty damn good deal.

So as far as I’m concerned, the secretary of Education should have been happy as hell. He should have taken that deal and smiled like a Cheshire cat. He’s got more walking around money than every other cabinet secretary put together.

It blows my mind that the White House would even notice the fight [over Race to the Top]. I would have expected the president to say to the secretary, “look, you’re getting a good deal, for God’s sake, what this really does is guarantee that the rest of the money isn’t going to be touched.”

We gave [Duncan] $4.3 billion in the stimulus package, no questions asked. He could spend it any way he wants. … I trusted the secretary, so I gave him a hell of a lot more money than I should have.

My point is that I have been working for school reform long before I ever heard of the secretary of education, and long before I ever heard of Obama. And I’m happy to welcome them on the reform road, but I’ll be damned if I think the only road to reform lies in the head of the Secretary of Education.

We were told we have to offset every damn dime of [new teacher spending]. Obama’s next act

By Charles Krauthammer
Friday, July 16, 2010

snip………”I have a warning for Republicans: Don’t underestimate Barack Obama.

How annoying………. a steady white noise drone for 8 years..poor man!

Obama compromises so much he is not nearly an effective reformer as many had hoped. Perhaps he is a realist who reads public opinion and the play in Congress. But he can’t move the goalposts like a great leader would. He’s certainly better than the GOP, but a great President? Not. He is simply doing OK, which is not enough to stop the decline of America. The biggest story of the 21st century so far is the US Pluto return, which coincides with the weakening of a great country. The whole world knows the Afghanistan adventure will end miserably. Why draw it out? The unanswered question is not how things end for the US, but how the world will fill the void left by the decline of that great country, which despite its many grievous faults, has by and large been a force for good and stability since the end of World War II. How will the world manage when the Yankees, unable to pay their bills, do go home?

Andre

I totally agree with your excellent analysis about Obama. I mean, sorry, but anyone who knows something about history and Geo-Political realities could have predicted the ongoing disaster in Afghanistan which Obama has further enabled.

What is our mission there? Do we have an ‘endgame”, or even a credible exit strategy? No. As Obama agrees to more and more of the military’s demands for additional troops and money, each day now it’s reported that more U.S. and Nato soldiers are being killed, as well as more innocent civilians, creating many additional U.S. hating Jihadists.

I just don’t ‘get it’?

Why doesn’t Obama put more psychic energy and diplomatic resources into taking a tougher stand against Russia for example?

He has happily “reset” relations with Russia, thereby giving Putin a free hand to further limit and degrade human rights there.

Also Putin is making a subtle but real power grab in the Ukraine by basically telling the new President Yanakovich what to do, in return for Russian loan guarantees and security promises, while the ‘free press’ there also becomes less free as well (I’m currently working at a new job in the Ukraine after spending the last eight years in Poland).

If Obama wants to appear “tough” Russia is a good place to start, as Putin respects only toughness from any potential opponent/adversary.

Pat C, thanks again for all that you do. This latest is troubling and reminds me of something I heard just after Obama was inaugurated: there are 26 levels of clearance above the President. What does that mean and who exactly is in charge? This is of course totally rhetorical.
This is all nuts and PSW, as you linked, we are so screwed now. I wonder how long it will take the American citizenry to figure out that identifying with the wealthy and well placed will get them nothing, nothing but heartache and rage?

Development of BP oil cap not as encouraging:

“Associated Press quoted an unnamed administration official as saying that the new cap was seeping and that “possible methane” had been detected near the broken well. BP is concerned that opening the cap would result in another three days of oil flowing into the Gulf, while the government thinks a return to pumping oil could be necessary to ease pressure on the fragile well, the reports said.”
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/bp-government-disagree-over-keeping-well-capped-2010-07-18

I think maybe the cardinal cross is trying to tell us something about our dangerous usage of fossil fuels…

Multiple explosions and oil spill are taking place–halfway around the globe–in China.

Chinese CCTV reported that six explosions hit two oil pipelines in northeastern Dalian’s Xingang Harbor (see map) on the evening of July 16, while a 300,000 ton foreign oil tanker was being unloaded.
Over 2,000 fire fighters, along with 219 fire trucks were mobilized for the rescue mission. The subsequent blaze had burned for 15 hours before finally being extinguished on Saturday morning.

Andre and Richard I agree. I just don’t get it.

Clymela…after I read that article I had to sit back and take it all in. It is brutal truth.

More good news:
Breaking: Seep Found Near Blownout Well, BP Not Complying With Government Demands for More Monitoring

A federal official says scientists are concerned about a seep and possible methane near BP’s busted oil well in the Gulf of Mexico.
Both could be signs there are leaks in the well that’s been capped off for three days.

snip

As I argued at length on June 16th, we should not trust BP to stop the oil gusher, and they should be removed from the scene of the crime and replaced with people who don’t have such a poor track record for safety and such severe conflicts of interest.

The health of the entire Gulf region is at stake.

http://www.georgewashington2.blogspot.com/

PSW,

It’s been my view that Obama has done everything within his power to help BP hide the horrors of the spill. It’s the government that has made sure that the media is off limits from any area that’s a negative for BP, including making no-flight-zones. The administration is not going to make BP accountable. As far as I’m concerned, the $20 billion escrow was a requirement to limit BP’s liability which would have bankrupted it. That’s what Wall Street expected until Obama and the UK PM met.

His Neptune-Sun square says to me that the person he presents to the world is not real.

The drama of the spill continues:

“Thad Allen, the U.S. official in charge of the response to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, ordered BP Plc to prepare for reopening the company’s Macondo well after a “seep” was detected.

Allen said a “seep” was found “a distance” from the well and anomalies had been observed at the well head, in a letter sent today to BP Chief Managing Director Bob Dudley that was posted on a government website about the spill.”

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-07-19/u-s-s-allen-tells-bp-to-prepare-for-reopening-oil-well-after-seep-found.html

Richard if the taliban takes back Afghanistan they can use that as a launching point to topple the government of pakistan. Pakistan has nukes and that tech has already been shared w ninth Korea and Iran - but that’s nothing next to a Taliban gov w nukes. For starters they’d have no problem having a full scale war with india - but you’d also see terrorism in the west that would make look like a footnote.

That”s why Obama is focused there - and yet that still may not prevent nuclear terrorism in the long run. My bet is that well see north Korea do something within 5 years and testing by Iran within 10 years.

Sorry this iPad is quirky for writing - above comment should say “makes 9/11 look like a footnote” and I wanted to say north Korea, not ninth Korea.

The gloves are off ….. 7/19/10 watch 10:30am est.

For the second time in three days, President Obama is planning to unload on his Republican adversaries, calling them out for blocking the passage of emergency unemployment insurance.

A White House official says the president will take to the Rose Garden Monday morning at 10:30, where he will “have strong words” for the GOP lawmakers who have blocked the emergency legislation despite having supported identical measures under Republican presidents.

“And he will point out that they are calling for hundreds of billions of dollars in tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans while telling working families that we can’t afford to help them when they need it most,” the official said Sunday night.”

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/19/AR2010071901845.html?wpisrc=nl_politics

Michael from NYC,
The Taliban gets help from the Pakistani ISI, not the other way around. And that’s been the case since the Russians left Afghanistan. The ISI supported the Taliban from the get go. The scenario you paint is not likely. What is more possible is that the ideals of the Taliban become more prominent within the population of Pakistan, a home grown extreme group (a Pakistani Taliban), that takes over its own government. I’ve not visited Pakistan, but I’ve visited India, and I don’t see the scenario of an extreme group taking over Pakistan, not unless the picture between India and Pakistan deteriorates. That’s why our Secretary of State, has worked so hard in that area. Hillary has devoted lots of energy, she’s there right now, to ensure that Pakistan stays clean. It’s extremely important that India and Pakistan patch their differences to ensure that the seed of extremism is vanished.

The following WPO investigative report is another example of fine journalism. However, I cannot wrap my thought around the netherworld of espionage gone wild, dare I say rogue? I’m certain there are well meaning — and necessary agencies devoted to filtering threats. The growth of agencies focused on facial recognition, and other –to me sinister — methods of collecting data can come of no good. This story seems another example of Pluto and the outing of underworld extremism.

Karen-this revealing of the shape of the underworld is looking at Pluto himself. I am reminded of an observation Jung made about the buildup prior to WWll ( i am guessing here and did not Google it)saying that all these weapons will eventually lead to war. Well I don’t know what is building but it is very frightening-God help us should someone scare us and we have something like the Reagan administration or maybe we already are effected by the Bush years and don’t even know it. Any way this is all devastating along with the Gulf of Mexico. HMMMN!! Pluto is in Capricorn!! Will this end up in the Secret Police turning into something so fascist that the Nazi’s will seem quaint so 20th Century when Pluto is in Aquarius?

Clymela,
I think we can glimpse at Pluto in Aquarius by revisiting what happened the last time Pluto transited that sign. First of all, Pluto in that sign gave us the U.S. Constitution, an amazing document that gave the masses freedom to govern themselves. It also destroyed monarchies, and though very bloody, like the French Revolution, it put many nations in the path to democracy. I’m not convinced that Pluto in Aquarius will be Fascist. I think Pluto in Cancer and Capricorn would have those tendencies, but not Aquarius.

Prabhata-thank you so much for your thoughts on this-I was moved when you reminded me of the birth of our Constitution. I worry about Pluto in Aquarius because of run-ins in my life with Aquarius friends who make up their minds and then won’t budge-says the heavy Leo influenced friend-teehee.
I wonder how we will manage to uproot the modern oligarchies? Obviously or so it seems to me, there will have to a spiritual uprising so that the Rulers of the Planet have to give up-I don’t think we could ever bring them down with weapons. At least not with weapons that would leave us with anything we could live with and grow our food in. The way of the oligarchy with all the hideous weapons we are paying for is not going to be available to those of us who want a human life.
PatC.-your link is exactly what I am referring to.

Clymela,
I don’t know about “spiritual uprisings” because as I understand it, spirituality is quiet. I think we see the change from so many people like you who are interested in the higher vibration.

It’s a quiet revolution, I think.

Prabhata-I was thinking of so many seeing from a new outlook that somehow the machinations of the power sharks will just fizzle. That is what I mean by an spiritual uprising-I guess all of us just rising up to our highest potential. And yew!! it will be quiet the better not to scare the birds away.

Obama OK’s talks with Taliban. This is a policy shift.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jul/19/obama-afghanistan-strategy-taliban-negotiate

The Obama administration is revising its Afghanistan strategy to embrace the idea of negotiating with senior members of the Taliban through third parties – a policy to which it had previously been lukewarm.

Negotiation with the Taliban has long been advocated by Hamid Karzai, the Afghanistan president, and the British and Pakistan governments, but resisted by the US.

The Guardian has learned that while the official position of the US government is still resistant to the idea of talks with Taliban leaders, behind the scenes a shift is under way, and Washington is now encouraging Karzai to take a lead in such negotiations.

Prabhata & Clymela,
For perspective I offer this:

The Protestant Reformation – 31 October 1517 occurred when Pluto was at 2 degrees & 17 minutes of Capricorn. Pluto was at the same station 4 November 1763, a few months after the Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian War/Seven Years’ War and again 2 December 2009. For the present we need to look back particularly at 1763.

For the Declaration of Independence on 4 July 1776 (although I suspect astrologer/Freemasonry scholar David Ovason is correct about 2 July 1776) R-Pluto was at 27 degrees 27 minutes of Capricorn. On 22 April 2021 Pluto will be at 27:01 degrees Cap but goes retrograde the next day. It will return to the Declaration of Independence station 10 February 2022 at 27 degrees 28 minutes of Capricorn.

When Cornwallis surrendered on 19 October 1781, effectively ending the Revolutionary War Pluto was at 4 degrees 18 minutes of Aquarius. We will be at that station again 12 & 13 February 2026.

The Constitution of the USA was adopted 17 September 1787 in Philadelphia when
R-Pluto was at 14 degrees 1 minute Aquarius. Pluto will return to that station on 1 February 2032, 15 August 2032, and again 30 December 2032.

The Constitution became effective 4 March 1789 when Pluto was at 17 degrees 50 minutes Aquarius. We get that again 23 March 2034 and on 18 July 2034.

Davis L,

My life has been impacted by Saturn, Pluto with a little Uranus in the mix. I respect the qualities of their energy.

We are a few days away, hope those days are intense in positive energy, and not the other way.

Arch Crawford uses Astrology and Technical Analysis to forecast the stock market. And he has a track record of some good calls. So, his recent forecast is worth mentioning. Around August 1, 2010 there is going to be an extreme planetary alignment (Cardinal Climax) that he contends is indicative of a major bad event, and he forecasts a market crash between May 1, 2010 and November 1, 2010. Obviously, Astrology is not a science; it has little precision and is at best a system of identifying dubious relationships between cyclical celestial phenomenon and human behavior. Nonetheless, that isn’t to say that there isn’t something to it. All I know is that even if he is right, it won’t be the end of the world.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XqQYjrUTiw&feature=player_embedded

Prabhata,
Mine too, but a lot more Uranus. Late Geminii Asc with a Cancer Uranus in 1st House, Uranus now transiting my 10th, recently conjuncted my Pisces Moon in 10th. When Uranus gets to 13 degrees 48 minutes of Aries it will conjunct my natal Jupiter in the 10th. Meanwhile Pluto is in my 7th for years to come as this Leo experiences 2nd Saturn return.

Jay: Yes. Well, let’s turn it over to Arch then. Arch, you look at these natural phenomena that sometimes are caused by or at least seemed to be related to planetary movements. You also, of course, look at the markets. You see various planetary alignments that can portend something bad happening; I guess maybe sometimes some good things happen too, but would you care to comment on that?

I mean, this volcano is a very serious situation. It has already been serious in terms of airline profits and the costliness of keeping people stranded, but Gijsbert was pointing out some other things that could be very big in terms of affecting the global economy. What are your thoughts? Is there anything you have seen in the stars, in the planets, that might have forecasted this volcanic action?

Arch: Well, yes. We are coming up to the largest alignment of planets. That means some opposite some others, and forming an angle of a square with Pluto. It’s the biggest one that we have ever seen. I checked back close to 100 years, and it’s the largest energy impact that I have ever seen.

I calculate the Bradley Model, which is totally astronomic related, and it often predicts what the market will do. Well, a colleague in Vienna, Austria, calculated the Bradley Model actually back 200 years, and he said it will hit a new low for that time period this summer. Probably, July 30/August 1 time period.

I mentioned this at an astrology group conference in Cambridge, Mass, and one fellow stood up and said, I checked it back a 1,000 years and there is nothing like it. And another fellow popped up and said, I have checked it back 10,000 years and there is nothing like it.

So in terms of natural cycles, this is the crux or the height or the maximum of anything that we have seen in all of recorded history….

Davis L,
I guess you are ready for all those changes that Uranus will bring.
As a Leo, I have a love affair with Uranus because it never lets me down. The changes are radical and unsettling, but always liberating.

Good news about the oil spill:

A seep that is possibly letting methane into the Gulf of Mexico is apparently not connected to BP’s oil well, and it may be occurring naturally, officials said Monday.
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/20/us/20oilspill.html

Prabhata,
You should know better by now!!

As Predicted, BP Tries to Pretend New Leak is a “Natural Seep”

As I pointed out on June 24th (and again yesterday):
The Washington Post made a very important point yesterday:

Bruce Bullock, director of the Maguire Energy Institute at Southern Methodist University, said additional leaks are a possible source of deep-sea plumes of oil detected by research vessels. But this part of the gulf is pocked with natural seeps, he noted. Conceivably the drilling of the well, and/or the subsequent blowout, could have affected the seeps, he said.
“Once you started disturbing the underground geology, you may have made one of those seeps even worse,” he said.
Remember that geologists have said that if the well casing is substantially breached, the oil and methane gas will find a way through fractures in the surrounding geology and make it into the ocean. For example, the Houston Chronicle notes:
If the well casing burst it could send oil and gas streaming through the strata to appear elsewhere on the sea floor ….

~snip

Because BP would like to minimize leak estimates to minimize the damages it has to pay under the Clean Water Act, BP would undoubtedly try to pretend that the nearby natural seeps always had the same volume. In other words, the owner of the oil drilling prospect where the spill is occuring - BP - may be the only party to have mapped out the nearby seeps ….
So don’t be surprised if - when formerly tiny seeps become gushers - BP tries to pretend that they were always that large.
Indeed - given BP’s track record of prevarication - don’t be shocked if BP pretends that brand new gushers are ancient, natural seeps.

Thanks for the reminder. I got caught up in a Neptunian make believe moment. I should know better.

Prabhata,
Changes? Some yes, others no. I certainly was not ready for the very powerful and forgotten old emotions which surfaced while Uranus conjuncted my Moon in Pisces. And I seem to be turning my artistic, performance and intellectual hobbies into a new profession. They were always what I was best at anyway. I need to give some deep thought to the coming Uranus conjunctoin of my natal Jupiter in the 10th at 13 degrees 48 minutes of Aries.

An Anonymous Government Official Doesn’t Want You to Know that Lockheed Works for NSA

Tomorrow and Wednesday, the WaPo will continue its series on the Intelligence Industrial Complex. It will describe the contractors in the BWI/Fort Meade area that contribute to the NSA’s surveillance programs. According to the DNI’s Director of Communications, that story will describe the contractors in the vicinity, but not say explicitly that those contractors clustered around Fort Meade are working for the NSA.

The Post advises that “links” between individual contractors and specific agencies have been deleted, although the Post will still cite contractors and their locations.

Here’s the WaPo’s description of how it acceded to spy officials’ requests not to include maps like this one–showing one of Lockheed Martin’s extensive locations in the neighborhood of Fort Meade (anyone who has taken the train to BWI will pass another of these locations)–in its database.

Because of the nature of this project, we allowed government officials to see the Web site several months ago and asked them to tell us of any specific concerns. They offered none at that time. As the project evolved, we shared the Web site’s revised capabilities. Again, we asked for specific concerns. One government body objected to certain data points on the site and explained why; we removed those items. Another agency objected that the entire Web site could pose a national security risk but declined to offer specific comments.

We made other public safety judgments about how much information to show on the Web site. For instance, we used the addresses of company headquarters buildings, information which, in most cases, is available on companies’ own Web sites, but we limited the degree to which readers can use the zoom function on maps to pinpoint those or other locations.

Nevertheless, an anonymous official–who sounds an awful lot like Acting Director of National Intelligence David Gompert did in his official statement–is already out bitchingabout the contractor database the WaPo published as part of this series.

When Uranus conjunct my natal Jupiter in the 8th house it gave me a great paying job with advancements into higher levels every 2 years. I wish you great success in what Uranus/Jupiter sends to you in your 10th house. Responsibilities and rewards for those responsibilities? Maybe next year.

FLOW: For Love Of Water

They are buying up the water.

The upcoming July 26th Full Moon at 2 Aquarius will be activating No Korean leader Kim Jong Il’s natal Pluto (2 Leo) and t squaring North Korea’s n. Mars (3 Scorpio) just as the Uranus-Saturn opposition (0 Aries-Libra) t squares North Korea’s natal Uranus (0 Cancer) at harsh 90/ 135 degree angles to NK’s natal Pluto (15 Leo).

The scheduling of the US/South Korea war drills next week couldn’t have come at a worse time astrologically speaking, especially considering that North Korea scrapped all safeguards and agreements with its neighbor in late May. One minor miscalculation could see a serious escalation of tensions on the Korean peninsula. All eyes are on that Mars/Saturn conjunction opposite Moon/Uranus on the 30th.

US, So. Korea To Hold Military Drills Next Week Amid Tension Over sunken warship

The Guardian
July 20th, 2010

“…… South Korea and the U.S. plan to conduct a four-day combined maritime and air readiness exercise, dubbed “Invincible Spirit,” off the Korean peninsula’s east coast from July 25-28, their militaries said in a separate joint statement.

About 8,000 South Korean and U.S. troops, more than 20 alliance warships and submarines including the massive aircraft carrier USS George Washington and 200 military planes are to take part in next week’s drills, it said.

More joint drills would follow off Korea’s east and west coasts in the coming months, it said.

South Korea and the U.S. have said the drills are defensive-oriented, but the North has warned the training would only intensify tension because it is nothing but a preparation to invade the regime.

“The warmongers would be well advised to behave themselves, bearing deep in mind the consequences to be entailed by the above-said war moves,” the North’s government-run Minju Joson newspaper said in a commentary carried Tuesday by the official Korean Central News Agency.

Pat C.-thank you so much for the link to FLOW:… I haven’t gone there yet but I wanted to say that it was the buying up of water in Mexico by the Coca-Cola company that precipitated so much of the flow of the so-called “illegal aliens” as the young people came north to find work for their floundering families after the water was taken from their villages. This I know because a co-worker and her husband came back with these stories in the early years of this century. The report was that all the water from entire villages would be “stolen” destroying the life and culture of the villages and the women had to walk miles to get water and the men turned to vice to get through their now pointless lives. I mean this happened right here in our neighboring country and no one talks about it except retired Civil Servants such as little ol’ me. The previous President was President of Coca-Cola in Mexico before he got elected. Just sayin’.

clymela, they are doing it all over the world, including the United States.

Netle, Pepciso, Coca Cola, and more.

Oh yes, Pat C. They are. Another example which is occuring throughout the US is a water bottler in a small northern Michigan community. They have “rights” to the aquifer. Water levels have declined substantially, wells have run dry. It reminds of Walmart wooing small town community leaders. At a cost to townships/counties/cities Walmart requires additional policing, additional traffic lights. Then, after all of these ammenities are granted (including tax breaks), the town dries up of all but a few local businesses.

That’s exactly what other corporate entities are doing with the water. Palms get greased, and to hell with everyone else.

Prabhata,
“I wish you great success in what Uranus/Jupiter sends to you in your 10th house. Responsibilities and rewards for those responsibilities? Maybe next year.”

Many Thanks for the goodwill.
As Uranus will go retrograde so very many times it won’t conjunct my natal Jupiter until Summer 2013 and immediately goes retrograde again! It finally will be a direct and precise conjunction 25 April 2014.

Interestingly, after several years without work, this past 15 July I was offered a job “out of the blue” on the basis of my knowledge, my writing, my public speaking ability and a secondary job from the same source on the basis of my music…. All this during the Uranus/Jupiter transit of my 10th House. Perhaps it is a precursor. After decades of failure, I could use a little bit of success.

South Korea and the U.S. plan to conduct a four-day combined maritime and air readiness exercise, dubbed “Invincible Spirit,” off the Korean peninsula’s east coast from July 25-28,

Very bad timing indeed. Also, Arizona immigration law goes into effect on July 29.

Please check out this new website created by a friend of mine, and please pass it along to your friends.

http://www.newslook.com/

Exactly Karen.

Davis L,
I read:
“Perhaps it is a precursor. After decades of failure, I could use a little bit of success.”
Maybe it wasn’t failure, but an apprenticeship for the future. Nature never wastes anything. That’s what I’ve come to see after many years in this planet. We all understand how school prepares us, but we seldom look at difficult situations in our life that prepare us to do better with greater challenges down the road.

Starlight, great site!

Hi,

I certainly didn’t expect this from the tense energies floating around, but I’ve had four great opportunities/perks come to me in the last week to do with my writing. And I’m up for an award to be given out next week.

I’m looking at my chart, trying to figure out what’s going on. I have Pluto looming over my AC at 5:52 Capricorn, the Cardinal Cross energy shooting into my 7th house. I don’t know what else it could be right now.

http://www.democracynow.org/

Hugh Kaufman, a senior policy analyst at the EPA’s Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response. He’s been a leading critic of the decision to use Corexit.

HUGH KAUFMAN: Well, Corexit is one of a number of dispersants, that are toxic, that are used to atomize the oil and force it down the water column so that it’s invisible to the eye. In this case, these dispersants were used in massive quantities, almost two million gallons so far, to hide the magnitude of the spill and save BP money. And the government—both EPA, NOAA, etc.—have been sock puppets for BP in this cover-up. Now, by hiding the amount of spill, BP is saving hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars in fines, and so, from day one, there was tremendous economic incentive to use these dispersants to hide the magnitude of the gusher that’s been going on for almost three months.

Congressman Markey and Nadler, as well as Senator Mikulski, have been heroes in this respect. Congressman Markey made the BP and government put a camera down there to show the public the gusher. And when they did that, experts saw that the amount of material, oil being released, is orders of magnitudes greater than what BP and NOAA and EPA were saying. And the cover-up started to evaporate.

But the use of dispersants has not. Consequently, we have people, wildlife—we have dolphins that are hemorrhaging. People who work near it are hemorrhaging internally. And that’s what dispersants are supposed to do. EPA now is taking the position that they really don’t know how dangerous it is, even though if you read the label, it tells you how dangerous it is. And, for example, in the Exxon Valdez case, people who worked with dispersants, most of them are dead now. The average death age is around fifty. It’s very dangerous, and it’s an economic—it’s an economic protector of BP, not an environmental protector of the public.

Pat C,
I think most of the people who read what’s going on in the gulf understand that the Obama administration protects BP. The Obama administration protected the health care industry and Wall Street.

After voting Democrat since my first vote for J.Carter, and years of volunteering my time to gotv, donating $ to elect liberals, I became an independent voter in 2008. Both parties play theater for Americans who are too busy to be informed. I’ll let Ms. Pluto (Kali Goddess) take care of the mess.

And she will Prabhata…she will. I just hope the results are good for all of us.

“Gaia Gone Mad (the Feminine in Hysteria)”
By Gwynne Mayer

http://www.reconnections.net/gaia_gone_mad.htm

When we are up against major constellations in this year of 2010, moving into 2012, we are in the midst of our own hysteria, chaos or whichever name you want to give it. The masculine is being repressed, manipulated by his inner feminine who is going completely hysterical at this point.

The feminine is holding the masculine hostage, waiting for the final, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to treat you this way.” SHE is doing this with an undertone of “Vengence is mine!”

We have all sorts of names for this in psychology however it doesn’t match the intensity as it affects more than fifty percent of our population, those who can sensitize themselves to the spiritual and archetypal world, striving to bring us into wholeness…the internal becomes external until we can assimilate and bring our body, minds and souls into a capable earth movement toward reconnecting to ‘oneness’. We are all in the ‘soup’ as CG Jung says succinctly.

Things are heating up and getting real cold elsewhere…..

http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Americas/2010/0720/Deadly-cold-snap-hits-Argentina-Uruguay-Chile

Deadly cold snap hits Argentina, Uruguay, Chile
Record cold temperatures hit several South American nations, including Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Chile, and Uruguay, leaving more than two dozen people dead.

Yes!,Lunagardener, It is winter in South America and they seem to be seeing the winters that we are getting-prolonged and deep just as summer now is so hot.
Here in the SF Bay Area it is very cool today, even cold in out little flat.

I have been away, and have not had a chance to comment on the earthquake in the DC area. I got a call Friday Morning, as I was leaving NC to visit the area, from my daughter. They experienced it full on in Waterford, VA. They are aware that their property is on a fault line. Smaller earthquakes have happened there before.

My daughter said her immediate reaction… pre dawn, as it woke them from a deep slumber, was that UFO’s had landed, as they heard the strange noises and felt the vibration. My daughter generally scoffs at UFO conversations…but they (She and her husband) , did freak for a moment….No visible damage the home or property.

PS

Talk about Henny Penny moments! Those of you in DC had it!

Prabhata,
Many Thanks for the kind words. Your positive take is surely more productive and sanity making but it all (for the time being) still feels like failure. I hope and suspect I will later look back and see it all and feel it all differently.

Pat C: I showed the documentary FLOW to my geography students last summer. Before they viewed it they learned about the incredible diversion of water for irrigation and urban use taking place in Colorado and California for example. Stakeholder conflicts are intensifying between agribusiness, fast-growing urban areas, and long-held native lands. FLOW just blows one away when seeing the effects from Nestle (if I recall) in Michigan to dams in the developing world to the World Water Council. the corporate world again.

Starlight: Adding to your comment about AZ immigration law coming into affect soon, there will also be 1,200 National Guard troops sent to the border on August 1st. It is a concern when considering the continuing and expanding drug war immediately to the south of the border. Nearly 23,000 —twenty-three thousand!—individuals have been murdered since 2007 as cartels fight to hold their separate markets. http://projects.latimes.com/mexico-drug-war/#/its-a-war Is the U.S. becoming more involved? Is the war zone spreading north?

David L,

In the practice of comparing everyone is a failure and a winner. Between the two, choose to see yourself as a winner. Better yet, don’t compare. — Prabhata

If you don’t like my words, then maybe H.G. Wells will do the trick:

“While there is a chance of the world getting through its troubles, I hold that a reasonable man has to behave as though he were sure of it. If at the end, your cheerfulness is not justified, at any rate you will have been cheerful” — H. G. Wells

“Oh yes, Pat C. They are. Another example which is occuring throughout the US is a water bottler in a small northern Michigan community.”

Yes, I live in MI., that’s Nestle/Ice Mountain Spring Water. The big concern, up here, is Great Lakes water becoming a commodity. Under WTO law, if it does, then all WTO member nations have the right to equal access of this commodity. The GL’s represent 20% of Earth’s fresh water (contaminated as it is). And, of course, corps. have been working towards outright commoditization of water in a number of poor nations, installing meters and charging for usage (South Africa). Perhaps this will be a blow to this effort: http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/WO1007/S00179/un-to-recognize-fundamental-human-right-to-water.htm

Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho! The WTO’s got to go!

You are right on Tetramorph! This is very dangerous ground for all people who depend on the earth to live. Anyone out there not dependent on the earth to live??

Juan Cole is taking on Murdoch & Glen Beck

snip

I haven´t seen any political or media responses (other than that of Media Matters, which to my mind misses his larger point) to this particular rant by Beck, and find that lapse in itself alarming. Beck´s advertising base has collapsed because of the unsavory character of his discourse, but he is being kept on the air through immense subsidies, by Rupert Murdoch, who admits that he agrees with Beck´s outrageous charge that Obama doesn´t like white people. I was once attacked by John Fund at the Wall Street Journal because I said it is irresponsible of the FCC to allow Murdoch to misrepresent his far right propaganda campaign as ¨journalism.¨ But I repeat it here.

Something bigger than a consumer boycott of Beck advertisers is needed, maybe a consumer boycott of all Fox media and companies.

I´ve been cautioned by readers not to take on Murdoch because he is known to be particularly vindictive. But that kind of comment only underlines the danger we are all in from him and his goon squad.

The shame of right-wing “journalism”

Andrew Breitbart and Tucker Carlson distort facts to smear liberals, and it works. What liberals should learn

Prabhata-thank you over and over for showing the way of finding the positive thought. I find your positive responses absolutely fascinating. Thank you again.
Pat C.what is so amazing over this Breitbart thing is that the talk is only about the White House not about the, seems to me, felonious assault of Mrs.Sherrod’s charachter by Bteitbart,et al.
I wrote the President about the need to stop hiding from the raqcism of the right-wing and the importance of just taking it straight and responding directly instead of acting as if being from a minority group is somehow criminal. This running from the right-wing racism is damaging.

Oh!! forgive my misspellings above-we just found the missing left lens of my glasses and I was SO excited I just hit “submit” fast.

Clymela,
Thank you. We’re all in the same boat. My path is Zen, and in that path we pay attention how the mind is into habits, but they are difficult to see because we’re blind to them. That’s why Zazen (sitting still and silent) helps. The only thing moving is the mind and its habitual thinking patterns are more clearly observed. Take care.

Oil spill in Dalian, China

Five days ago, in the northeastern port city of Dalian, China, two oil pipelines exploded, sending flames hundreds of feet into the air and burning for over 15 hours, destroying several structures - the cause of the explosion is under investigation. The damaged pipes released thousands of gallons of oil, which flowed into the nearby harbor and the Yellow Sea. The total amount of oil spilled is still not clear, though China Central Television earlier reported an estimate of 1,500 (400,000 gallons), as compared to the estimated 94 - 184 million gallons in the BP oil spill off the Louisiana coast. The oil slick has now grown to at least 430 square kilometers (165 sq mi), forcing beaches and port facilities to close while government workers and local fishermen work to contain and clean up the spill. Access to clean water is most violated human right

The world’s running out of clean water. Unless the UN acts, the private sector will appropriate supplies and the poor will suffer

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/cif-green/2010/jul/21/access-clean-water-human-right

On 28 July, for the first time ever, the general assembly of the United Nations will hold a historic summit on the human right to water. It will consider and debate a resolution supporting the right to “safe and clean drinking water and sanitation” that was presented on 17 June by Pablo Solon, the Bolivian ambassador to the UN, and co-sponsored by 23 other countries. The desired outcome of the day is consensus on recognising the human right to water. However, some governments are withholding consensus and it appears likely that the resolution will have to be put to a vote, a process that has the potential to divide the world body along north/south lines.

But whaddya know, the scandal was fake. The clips were taken completely out of context. It was basically as if I said, “Some people say that violence is always the answer; they’re wrong”, Fox ran with the story “Krugman says violence is always the answer”, and the Times fired me.

What’s shocking here isn’t the behavior of the right, which was par for the course. It’s the seemingly limitless credulity of the inside-the-Beltway crowd. I mean, there’s a history here: ACORN, Climategate, Vince Foster, Whitewater, and much much more. (Someone recently reminded me that the GOP held two weeks of hearing on the Clinton Christmas card list.) When the right-wing noise machine starts promoting another alleged scandal, you shouldn’t suspect that it’s fake — you should presume that it’s fake, until further evidence becomes available.

So now Tom Vilsack, the Agriculture secretary, says that he may “reconsider”. I’d lay even odds that the Sherrod firing stands, even though it was totally unjust, because people in DC are so accustomed to cringing in the face of the right that they just don’t know how to stop.

Who’s in charge?

Whales are acting strange:

“There’s lots of weird stuff going on this year,” Dr Carole Carlsen of the Dolphin Fleet whalewatch boats told me. This last week alone, I’ve seen humpbacks, right whales and even fin whales – the second largest animal in existence – throwing themselves out of the water, a very rare occurrence.”

http://m.guardian.co.uk/?id=102202&story=http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2010/jul/21/whale-yacht

Well Vilsack has apologized, publicly, and Sherrod has been offered a new job, which she is considering.

Maloney Letter Supporting Elizabeth Warren for CFPB Has 39 Signatures

Thirty-nine Democrats, including a substantial portion of the House Financial Services Committee, have signed on to a letter distributed by Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) supporting Elizabeth Warren to run the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that will come into being as part of the financial reform bill to be signed today by the President. Warren, a favorite of progressives, invented the concept of a federal consumer protection agency for financial products, yet some reports with anonymous sources say top officials at the White House are resisting naming her to be the first director of the agency.

House Financial Services Committee Chair Barney Frank has signed the letter, along with members of the committee Jackie Speier, Mary Jo Kilroy, Keith Ellison, Luis Gutierrez, Maxine Waters, Brad Miller, and others. The full list is below:

Rep. Luis Gutierrez, Rep. Lloyd Doggett, Rep. Keith Ellison, Rep. Gary Peters, Rep. Jackie Speier, Rep. Brad Sherman, Rep. Rosa DeLauro, Rep. Raul Grijalva, Rep. Nita Lowey, Rep. Barney Frank, Rep. Al Green, Rep. Lois Capps, Rep. John Olver, Rep. Maxine Waters, Rep. Brad Miller, Rep. Jim McDermott, Rep. Earl Blumenauer, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, Rep. Mazie Hirono, Rep. Maurice Hinchey, Rep. George Miller, Rep. Jerry Nadler, Rep. Niki Tsongas, Rep. John Sarbanes, Rep. Joe Sestak, Rep. Martha Fudge, Rep. Marcy Kaptur, Rep. Elijah Cummings, Rep. Peter DeFazio, Rep. Pete Stark, Rep. Zoe Lofgren, Rep. Tim Walz, Rep. Dennis Kucinich, Rep. Rush Holt, Rep. Steve Driehaus, Rep. Lynn Woolsey, Rep. Michael Capuano, Rep. Steve Lynch, Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy

Members of the House Democratic caucus have extended the deadline to the end of today to sign the letter before it goes to the President. For his part, Barack Obama plans to announce a director of the CFPB quickly after signing the bill, according to Deputy Treasury Secretary Neal Wolin.

Sherrod’s case parallels deceptions used in that other big smear — and offers a chance to restore lost standards

What I can understand or stomach for that matter is the main-streams’s refusal to go after Breightbart and FOX. Shirley Sherrod is one of my hero’s and the image of her luminous skin and loving countenance are deep in the memory of my heart. AND these folks who are responsible for attacking her should be brought up on charges. Seems to me that what Breightbart and FOX did are so horrible but I am wondering if because the White House reacted from a truly insane position, that now Breightbart and FOX will not lose anything. This is crazy and would not be happening if there were not the monopoly of media outlets. This is the worst of Pluto/Neptune,the worst-like throwing acid in someone’s face and NOT being arrested.

Well what an incredible typo: what I thought I typed was “What I can NOT understand.

“This is crazy and would not be happening if there were not the monopoly of media outlets.”

Absolutely true! Now IF the Democratic administration leaved these media monopolies in place, I have to worry deeply for Democracy in the United States. The Republicans certainly won’t do it.

Pat C.-thank you for this. I have been so busy this week that I haven’t gotten over to tpm.

New thread up. I am off to the Big Apple early tomorrow. You will all need to hold down the fort while I am away. I won’t be back until late next week.

Happy Weekend :-)

Starlight,
I see the new post. Thanks.

I’m now looking for writers to start this project right, so e-mail me at carolduhart07@gmail.com or click my e-mail address, and you can just register as a member, or be a member with a blog of your own.

Thanks to starlight for both the inspiration and the vision of what astrology could and will be. Here’s hoping the project will enhance both sites very well…

Don’t be discouraged if there are brief outages. I’m installing and writing a few extras to enhance the experience even further. I already have a gallery of images for the poster and link to all social networks.
