A Glimpse at 2010

The race is already on for an election a mere 11 months hence. Pundits report that Democrats agonize over a feared repudiation of their ineffectiveness in solving the nation’s severe economic turmoil, its health care crisis, and its escalating war. The rabid and incoherent GOP is salivating at the prospect of a return from exile. Interpreting the stars for congressional elections is a precarious endeavor. There are too many variables and very few birth times given for the charts used. Nonetheless, there is always the temptation to try.

The atmosphere for the 2010 election is created by the Saturn/Pluto square in hard aspect to the US Venus (3Cancer06), with Saturn beginning to separate from the square by late August 2010, and Pluto beginning to separate from the opposition by late October 2010. Both planets are bringing a sense of stress and anxiety to the financial security of Americans. Added to this mix is the Saturn square to Obama’s Venus (1Cancer47), curtailing his extraordinary charisma to the level of a mere mortal, and likely keeping his poll numbers somewhat down through August 2010. Thus, the background noise to the coming election drama does not favor the party in power, i.e., the Democrats.

Of further concern in November 2010 are two configurations that suggest some very significant challenges for the administration during that month. The Inaugural progressed Moon will be waxing in a square to natal Saturn (21Virgo24) from October 20 through November 18, a sure sign of severe stress and anxiety in the administration. And transiting Saturn will be square to the US Sun (13Cancer19) from November 8 through November 18, another indication of significant pressure on the president and the nation. Generally, the Sun in a nation’s chart represents the ruler and the nation’s most important goals. While the Sun is under Saturn, goals and current projects will be frustrated or scaled down, and the administration will be significantly burdened and obstructed. It remains to be seen if these aspects in November 2010 will have to do with the outcome of the election or with an entirely unrelated set of circumstances that bring extreme disquiet to the administration at that time.

Despite the obvious expectation for an election disaster for Democrats due to the economy, the war, and the general malaise of the moment, there are some indications that things may not be as bad as predicted by the pundits. From today’s vantage point, I would say that the Senate will come through relatively unscathed, with Democrats losing only a few seats. The House may well take a bigger beating, but I do not think Democrats will lose the Majority. In the charts I have looked at, I see nothing that suggests significant upset or unhappiness among Democrats and nothing that suggests a big victory for Republicans. There are some exceptions, but they do not fit the pattern and therefore suggest more individual outcomes. The following are my preliminary results.

The Senate:

Harry Reid (12/2/39) is struggling to maintain public support in his home state of Nevada. Republicans would love to take over his seat next year. Indicating his currently declining poll numbers is the Saturn transit opposite his Venus that will be in effect through late August 2010. But Reid is likely to come roaring back in September 2010 with the Uranus/Jupiter conjunction on his natal Jupiter (28Pisces59). Both planets will cross his Jupiter again in January 2011, this time consecutively, during the beginning of the new Congress. In addition, the Venus station will conjunct his North Node (28Libra29) and quincunx his Jupiter in November, while the North Node makes a long crossing of his Venus from late November through early February 2011. It is hard to imagine Reid not winning this election and continuing to be part of a Majority party, possibly still as Majority Leader.

Dick Durbin (11/21/44) is not running for reelection but is the Senate Democratic Whip. He looks particularly happy in November, when Jupiter stations opposite his Jupiter (23Virgo36), and in January, when Jupiter and Uranus will trine his Mars/Sun conjunction (27 and 29 Scorpio). Venus will also cross his Mars/Sun conjunction during the first days of the new Congress.

Mitch McConnell (2/20/42), Senate Minority Leader, seems as grumpy as ever during the critical November 2010 through January 2011 period. The Uranus station will be semisquare his Mercury (11Aquarius48) from October through December 2010, and the Saturn station will be sesquiquadrate his Sun (1Pisces26) from mid-December 2010 through late February 2011. With transiting Pluto sesquiquadrate his Mars (21Taurus29) in January 2011 and again later in the year, and progressed Mercury conjunct natal Saturn (22Taurus22) during the first half of 2011, I do not see McConnell celebrating anything but instead continuing his obstructionist and largely negative agenda.

Barbara Boxer (11/11/40) is running for reelection in California, a state incredibly hard hit by the recession. The Saturn transit crossing her Venus (11Libra58) and Node (10Libra38) from mid-October to November 5, 2010, suggests she may lose this election. It is also possible this transit refers to a personal and difficult matter going on at the time, and a very early birth time might imply things improve after the election, but using a generic noon birth time, Boxer looks quite upset for a few weeks continuing through November 5, three days after the voting. In addition, her Moon (12 Aries at noon) may also be opposed by Saturn somewhere around the election. These planets suggest a time of grief and difficulty for Boxer that will either be personal or indicate an election loss.

The House:

Nancy Pelosi (3/26/40), Speaker of the House, will hit a stressful period from December 23, 2010, through February 7, 2011, when the Saturn station will quincunx her Mercury (17Pisces07). We see the same period indicated in the chart of Chris Van Hollen (1/10/59) when Saturn will be within 10 minutes of conjunct his Node (17Libra23). There is little in either chart to suggest sorrow (Saturn) during the election and just after, but also nothing of a celebratory nature.

On the other hand, John Boehner (11/17/49), House Minority Leader, looks quite distressed from November 2010 through February 2011, as Saturn squares his Venus (10/27 to 11/7), conjuncts his South Node (12/8/10 to 3/3/11), and conjuncts his Neptune (12/9 to 2/28/11). It is hard to imagine a new Republican majority indicated by these planets. Eric Cantor (6/6/63) also shows no celebration (Jupiter or Venus transits) in his chart during and after the election and will also be under the Saturn station and its attendant frustrations and restrictions when it sits in a semisquare with his Mars/Uranus conjunction (1Virgo42) from December 13, 2010, through February 23, 2011. Saturn will also oppose his Jupiter (13Aries29) from November 10 though November 20.

Tim Kaine, Chairman of the DNC, will benefit from the Venus retrograde around the election, when it crosses his Node (2Scorpio49) and Jupiter (1Scorpio28) and squares his Venus (2Auarius02). This indicates the head of the Democratic Party will be very happy immediately after the election and again in early December. However, similar to indications for Pelosi and van Hollen, the period from mid-December 2010 through late February 2011 will bring some significant stress, with Saturn square Kaine’s natal Mars (16Capricorn30).

Thus, a preliminary investigation suggests both Houses will remain in Democratic hands, but with smaller majorities and therefore more intensive power struggles likely in order to get anything done.

Starlight,

I fear Boxer is in a jam as well - and even if she does pull through, she’ll have Saturn hitting her Scorpio Sun when it through transiting Libra. But she’s a fierce fighter and she may prevail in spite of everything.

Otherwise, its looking pretty good for pushing forward with a more enlightened and humane agenda in our government.

I wonder if you could comment on Mars squaring Jupiter as a transit.

Since someone commented on this site about Arianna’s husband being gay, she has also openly admitted to being gay.

Could some of her bitterness towards Obama be that he has not yet fulfilled his promise on getting rid of the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy?

Starlight: I too have faith that the Dems will do much better than the naysayers are portelling. I for one will work hard during that time to remind people just why we got in this recession and how, and it was not the Dems who got us into this very, very deep mess.

HA! It’s iGod

Gosh darn, what happened on this blog recently? We’re all reasonable folks. Can we all agree to get along without the attacks? I like this place because it isn’t like others I visit on the Net, and I really respect our gracious host here.

Nancy, Barbara Boxer’s well-heeled opponent is Carly Fiorina. Any chance you can look at her chart?

Carly Fiorina is running against Boxer? (haven’t been paying attention, and for some reason I thought she was going for being governor) Whoa, should be quite a race. Isn’t she the one who has a video out about mammograms and self exams, having beaten her breast cancer?

Nancy, do you think Petraeus has political aspirations?

Will, I gave you my honest response - and no reply?

Does anyone here ‘do’ facebook? Its interesting but a bit creepy. It has as many users now as the population of the US (tho the users are global). Talk about Jupiter/Uranus connection. Facebook started in 2004 - so that’s just over 5 years. It is now used to establish legal alibi, and has gotten countless in trouble. Here’s a really funny collection of things the hapless have posted:

Yoko Ono Lennon
December 8, 2009

On the anniversary of the passing of my husband, John Lennon,
I would like you to share an affirmation with me.
Think it, say it, with firm belief,
knowing that we are all one.

In the name of truth, peace and love:
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Our planet is healthy and whole,
We, the people of Earth
See clearly, Hear clearly, Think clearly.
Make the right judgement, right decision and the right move
For the benefit of our planet and others.

We are now bathing in the light of Dawn,
Standing in the Heaven we have created together,
Sharing the Joy
With all Lives on Earth
And of the Universe,
As we are all one, united with infinite and eternal love.

For the highest good of all concerned, So be it.

Thanks Carol. What do you think of them?

have at it, astrologers. (unfortunately, no birth time)

Cara Carleton Sneed (aka Carly Fiorina)
September 6, 1954 (1954-09-06) (age 55)
Austin, Texas

00Aries - I have looked at Carly Fiorina and I think she could win it. Jupiter will be aspecting 4 of her planets and possibly the Moon. Uranus will as well. And Pluto will be on her Mars for much of 2010 so we can expect her to get very aggressive. The only question is the Saturn square to her Node after the election. But early January she will be very happy.

will - Do you mean transiting Mars squaring natal Jupiter? it would only be for a day or two unless you are talking about a station of Mars. I imagine it would energize a person’s expansiveness in what ever way they usually manifest it: partying, pontificating, hanging out with friends, traveling as a form of exploring new territory, or maybe gambling.

By the way, I think the Democrat may beat Rick Perry in Texas. Mayor Bill White, dob 6/16/54. We can hope, although it could cause a revolution!

AKA - Facebook is how they found out the Salahis crashed the White House party - the next day! I don’t know about Petraus. I haven’t looked at him in a while. Tim Kaine looks very happy in January 2013, very happy. A good sign, I think, for Obama’s reelection, especially if he is still party boss.

This article in today’s WP really upset me. It makes the Afghan war look impossible. I had not seen it put in this way before. What Obama said made sense to me, but this is a whole other picture. Has anyone else seen these ideas put forth elsewhere?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/12/07/AR2009120704127.html

Like nearly all provinces in Afghanistan, this one has two governors. The first was appointed by President Hamid Karzai and is backed by thousands of U.S. troops. He governs this mountainous eastern Afghan province by day, cutting the ribbons on new development projects and, according to fellow officials with knowledge of his dealings, taking a generous personal cut of the province’s foreign assistance budget.

The second governor was chosen by Taliban leader Mohammad Omar and, hunted by American soldiers, sneaks in only at night. He issues edicts on “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan” stationery, plots attacks against government forces and fires any lower-ranking Taliban official tainted by even the whiff of corruption.

As the United States prepares to send 30,000 additional troops to Afghanistan to bolster Karzai’s beleaguered government, Taliban leaders are quietly pushing ahead with preparations for a moment they believe is inevitable: their return to power. The Taliban has done so by establishing an elaborate shadow government of governors, police chiefs, district administrators and judges that in many cases already has more bearing on the lives of Afghans than the real government.

“These people in the shadow government are running the country now,” said Khalid Pashtoon, a legislator from the southern province of Kandahar who has close ties to Karzai. “They’re an important part of the chaos.”

U.S. military officials say that dislodging the Taliban’s shadow government and establishing the authority of the Karzai administration over the next 18 months will be critical to the success of President Obama’s surge strategy. But the task has been complicated by the fact that in many areas, Afghans have decided they prefer the severe but decisive authority of the Taliban to the corruption and inefficiency of Karzai’s appointees.

Nancy, I think there is room for legitimate disagreement on Afghanistan, altho the debate has been framed into military expansion or do nothing whatsoever. It is a wrong framing. I think the president’s plans MIGHT have worked if the Afghan elections had been democratic and fair. Karzai is a huge problem in every way.

Since the administration is saying the goal is to limit Taliban activity (guess that’s “finishing the job”) then odds are very steep against it in that terrain - both physical and political/cultural. I’m sure many here will weigh in on this issue, but my sense is that a PRIMARILY military offense will not succeed in either limiting taliban or other terrorist groups in Af/Pak.

Recommend watching the movie The Kite Runner for visual reference on governing in Afghanistan.

Re facebook outing the state dinner crashers, THAT must have been a not so happy facebook moment for secret service! It was really a very bad security breech! Heads should roll. Not only was our president and first lady exposed, but the VP and lots of diplomats AND the head of India which has recently experienced horrific terrorist attacks. IMO the white house social secretary and several secret service people need to lose their jobs.

Nancy, if you get a chance check out several of the facebook bloopers. I think you have teenager(s)/20 somethings? I’ve several in my life and my fav facebook blooper is some young dude sort of bragging about getting over a “dry spell” and his mom was first to comment.

AKA - One irony is that in the government there is the younger generation of techies that are very savy about social media and then there is the older generation that are in power and resistant to change and really don’t fully get it. The fact that the Secret Service missed this breech and that it was found on Facebook the next day just underscores the whole thing.

We keep hearing about how Karzai is corrupt and how that is a problem, but I found this article to really make the impact of the corruption clear and to show how the Taliban benefit.

AKA- When Carly Fiorina (Sept 6, 1954 Austin, TX) became CEOof HP in July, 1999, HP’s stock price was $52 per share, and when she left (was forced out) 5 years later in February, 2005, it was $21 per share—a loss of over 60% of the stock’s value. During this same time period, HP competitor Dell’s stock price increased from $37 to $40 per share. Seems that her tenure at HP was not a great success. During the campaign she was an advisor to McCain and strongly supported Sarah Palin, however after she said “that Palin was not experienced enough to run a company like HP”, and then walked that comment back and said “that none of the candidates on either ticket had the experience to run a major corporation she was pulled off the public side of McCain’s campaign. For me she does not inspire confidence, nor has she said much about any issues. While she was at HP she was a big supporter of shipping jobs out of the country to save money.
Meg Whitman (Aug 4, 1956, Long Island NY) hasn’t had any ideas that make sense to me: She said “if elected, on her first day she would issue an executive order suspending the law that restricts emissions of greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming until its economic consequences are understood.” Whitman supported California’s Proposition 8 in 2008, which banned same-sex marriages, and voted in favor of California Proposition 4, an initiative that requires minors to notify their parents if they receive an abortion.
To say California(don’t have statehood data) has real problems is an understatement. Not only is the state pretty much insolvent, but the states political structure is in a mess. Arnold could not get anything done for lack of cooperation and Meg doesn’t seem to have any ideas as to how to fix the problem. It’s rumored that Jerry Brown (D) (April 7, 1938 San Francisco CA) was Governor from 1975 to 1983 and is now the Atty. General.
Sorry for the length of the post. I wish I had more astological experenice and I could look at all the charts but I’m truly a novice. Perhaps somene with experenice could look at them and have a better opinion.

“It’s rumored that Jerry Brown (D) (April 7, 1938 San Francisco CA) was Governor from 1975 to 1983 and is now the Atty. General.”

should say: It’s rumored that Jerry Brown (D) (April 7, 1938 San Francisco CA) was Governor from 1975 to 1983 and is now the Atty. General is going to run again for Gov. against Meg Whitman.

Carol - If Carly doesn’t win the primary, then it won’t matter what she has in January. she will be happy with lots of Jupiter but not in the public eye. That is always possible.

Whoever becomes governor should find a way during his/her honeymoon to get rid of that proposition that keeps the legislature from dealing with financial issues unless it has 2/3 vote. Otherwise, Ca will remain paralyzed.

Ah yes, Carly Fiorina, the former “celebrity CEO” of Hewlett Packard. She did a lot of good for that company… and yes, I’m being sarcastic. Some have called her the “anti-Steve Jobs” of Silicon Valley for her counterproductive ideas and initiatives in stark contrast to what Jobs has meant for Apple and technological innovation in general within the computer realm. One would think that California might have learned its lesson from another celebrity elected to high office… “The Governator.”

I will probably be taking a protracted break from making contributions to this post. Although I have enjoyed the open and spirited forum that once prevailed and and learned a great deal about many things, the tone over the past several months has become excessively gloomy, negative and foreboding. I am also seeing far too much time and energy being placed in the political arena and less on astrology and other worldly events outside of the political arena.

I wish you all a wonderful season. I’ll be lurking around to read the blog from time-to-time.

May you all enjoy growth and enlightenment and many liberating “ahas” over the seasons to come.

Thank you and may all good things come to you.

Our old roles are changing…Which may be why many of us are having trouble posting on Starlights blog these days….This is not to say that Starlights posts are any less valuable and relevant. They are. I can’t believe Boxer could lose next year because she has crushed her general election opponents in her previous two elections.

Unless some big scandal erupts I can’t believe that anything negative in her chart has anything to do with her election.

Honesetly I would have no problem if Reid lost just so he would no longer be the Majority Leader. I have never understood why a red-state Democrat is the leader of the party.

Maybe all of that Venus means that Durbin runs against Reid and becomes Majority Leader.

As for Pelosi maybe there is a coup and she is deposed, and I won’t shed a tear because she has been a disaster, but I don’t think that Hoyer would be any better since he corporate whore to the nth degree.

Dali Lama quote:

“May anyone who sees me, hears me, thinks of me, talks about me, loves me, hates me, doesn’t care about me…by my presence in their life, may they somehow benefit, having their suffering transformed and happiness enhanced. And may I one day completely perfect my compassion, love and wisdom.”

Starlight, thanks but I have one more I hope you will take a look at. The Senate seat in Pennsylvania. The primary in May for the democratic slot will be between Rep. Joe Sestak, whom I really like and the Former Rep. Senator Arlen Spector. I do hope you can shed some light on this. I’d hate to see Sestak not win the senate spot.
Thank you.

will - We will miss you. I hope you come back soon. I think Saturn square the US Venus and Pluto opposed has everyone irritable and created a general malaise. (I remember when we were all arguing about Obama versus Hillary when Uranus was square US Mars. The Left was at war with itself. We got along much better under Jupiter/Neptune.)

Roderick - I was wondering many of the same things. Perhaps Reid will win the election and lose the leadership post to Durbin. Perhaps Pelosi will be replaced by Hoyer who also has very strong planets from November through January. I just wish whoever is leading the Dems would start to play hardball with the GOP. They have made themselves irrelevant.

And I am furious with the Wash Post today as it printed an editorial by the moronic, truly ignorant Sarah Palin about climate change. It is like asking the neighborhood high-school-dropout gang leader to teach calculus.

The basic message is that short term pain is not worth long term gain, even if it means saving the planet. Environmentalists are always called “radical environmentalists”. If you want to stomach it, here is the link:

Conyers: Obama said I was “demeaning” him

The president reportedly called one of his liberal critics to talk about the criticism

“I’m getting tired of saving Obama’s can in the White House. I mean, he only won [on healthcare] by five votes in the House, and this bill wasn’t anything to write home about,” Conyers said last month. “You know, holding hands out and beer on Friday nights in the White House and bowing down to every nutty right-wing proposal about health care, and saying on occasion that public options aren’t all that important is doing a disservice to the Barack Obama that I first met who was an ardent single-payer enthusiast himself.”

More at the link….

If boxer loses in Ca the democrats will lose the house and probably most of their senate majority. Trust me I don’t care what astrology says about Boxer she isn’t going to lose especially
to Carly.

She could lose if the computerized voting machines are rigged.

Pat, touche!

Sadly it’s too true Noelle. Very worrisome.

Carly Fiorina would be terrible for California. As would the empty suit Meg Whitman. After the debacle of Enron stooge Arnold Schwarzenegger, coupled with the intractable rule in California wherein a two-thirds majority must be obtained to pass any law that affects the budget, the state can ill afford any more nonsense.

I was born here in California, grew up here, and have lived here for most of my life. And now I am broke, staying at a friend’s flat above a dance club, sleeping on a massage table, pretty much starving and seemingly unable to find any work. Perhaps I need to move, but where? Things certainly aren’t improving here in the tarnished Golden State, and if Whitman or Fiorina or (shudder!) both should be elected, I will have to move. If I don’t starve to death first.

As for Afghanistan, it astonishes me that we’re still pouring blood and tax dollars into that country, with oil company functionaries like Hamid Karzai (and Zalmay Khalilzad) still exercising influence. Guess it’s better than cheap heroin flooding our streets, but really.

Roderick, I agree with your views on Reid, Pelosi, and Hoyer.

Who, if I cried out, would hear me among the angels’ hierarchies?
and even if one of them pressed me suddenly against his heart:
I would be consumed in that overwhelming existence.
For beauty is nothing but the beginning of terror, which we are still just able to endure,
and we are so awed because it serenely disdains to annihilate us.
Every angel is terrifying.
And so I hold myself back and swallow the call-note of my dark sobbing.
Ah, whom can we ever turn to in our need?
Not angels, not humans, and already the knowing animals are aware
that we are not really at home in our interpreted world.
Perhaps there remains for us some tree on a hillside, which every day we can take into our vision;
there remains for us yesterday’s street and the loyalty of a habit so much at ease
when it stayed with us that it moved in and never left.
Oh and night: there is night, when a wind full of infinite space gnaws at our faces.
Whom would it not remain for–that longed-after, mildly disillusioning presence,
which the solitary heart so painfully meets.
Is it any less difficult for lovers?
But they keep on using each other to hide their own fate.
Don’t you know yet?
Fling the emptiness out of your arms into the spaces we breathe;
perhaps the birds will feel the expanded air with more passionate flying.

’staying at a friend’s flat above a dance club, sleeping on a massage table,……’
Lol. I know I shouldn’t be laughing, because I know how you feel, since I’m in a similar position, but those lines conjure up a funny picture. Maybe you can use it as a start to writing a really funny story/screenplay. I think you are so lucky to have been born and raised in CA - so much natural beauty out there. I’m in FL, the sunshine state, but that’s about all it’s got. I hear there is so much free money out there in the form of grants, but I can’t seem to find any of it! It must be well hidden. Good luck to you and me both.

Celebrating Our Differences Or Being Stuck in Our Egos: Mars Retrograde in Leo!

“She could lose if the computerized voting machines are rigged.”

Thankfully California’s Secretary of State, Debra Bowen, has a desire for fair elections. She had a review of voting machines done in 2007 and decertified three of the electronic voting systems.

That’s sure to earn her challenger some campaign dollars in 2010, or whenever it is she comes up for re-election.

I’m not very economically savvy so am unclear on whether this is a good or a bad thing. I feel like it’s not good for us but good for the banks. Am I right?

If I’m right - just how long is it going to take for Pluto/Saturn to do their thing and wake these people up?!

Bank-Friendly Dems Shut Down House, Threaten To Kill Wall Street Reform

A group of Democrats friendly to Wall Street interests forced a delay in consideration of the landmark financial regulatory reform bill scheduled to hit the House floor on Wednesday, Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) told reporters in the Speaker’s lobby.

Frank accused the New Democrat Coalition of blocking the bill because its members are being prodded by big banks to abolish the Consumer Financial Protection Agency and to allow major financial institutions to avoid state laws tougher than federal regulations

Will, I can understand where you are coming from. From time to time, I will back away from intense (for me) blog subjects that I’ve participated in. I take time to go back to other sites that have interested me and that I’ve learned from. Or, I search out new sites that have fresh perspectives (to me again). Taking breaks once in a while from a site that has become like a family can renew your desire to enter into the fray with like-minded folks and even those who have different views. We will miss reading your intelligent and significant responses and hope you return soon.

Word.

It occurs to me that Boxer could also be upset if a good friend of hers loses his or her election (or is ill) and would no longer be in the Senate. I am concerned about Chris Dodd. He has some difficult planets through 2010. According to the Astrodatabank birth time of 9:55 PM, he will have Saturn stationary square his Ascendant from April through much of July 2010. Uranus will square it as well from 6/12 to 9/2/10. He could have some significant health problems and possibly need to retire.

Chris - It is a well written article. During Mars’ retrograde and stationary periods, it is at the point when it is closest to the earth in its cycle. There is always more violence and more war during that time. We are in one again and it is probably worse in Leo, being a fire sign.

I tend to think the outcome of the war has more to do with the US chart. As Mars moves more retrograde by progression, there is more and more of a push to pull out. And with Saturn in a cardinal sign in adverse aspect to so many US planets for the next few years, I do not expect a big victory anywhere, only frustrations and incremental improvements. It is important for this war to be framed as a burden of responsibility (Saturn) rather than a “crusade” or something similar. We are entering this phase in a very different mood than we began the first time.

Noelle- The pa race isn’t clear to me. Too many unknowns without birth times. It looks like Sestak could win the primary but he may not win the election. If Toomey was born around mid day or a bit later, he could have the Jupiter station on his Moon all of November. Jupiter will also be conjunct Rush Limbaugh’s Sun for much for the month, so I think at least some tea party people will win some seats. Maybe Toomey? Another member of the Family will emerge if he does.

Yes, serious stuff that our troops, our govt are dealing with in Afghanistan/Pakistan. There were reports all summer long about the Taliban infiltrating local, municipal governments, villagers trying to hold them back, and Karzai’s govt cutting a deal in the Swat Valley. Actually, it has been going on for some time. It was/is strategic and smart on their part working from the ground up, quite significant.

Another concern are the number of reports demonstrating American Islamic fundamentalists emerging in our country, or outside of our country, to fight jihad like the five guys arrested today in Pakistan, the dude from Denver earlier this fall, and the other from Chicago who helped the terrorist plot in Mumbai. How many others are active (planning) today that are unknown to the American public, CIA, or FBI? What is to come?

If Tim Kaine is again the head of the DNC then the blue dogs will be happy. As a pro-lifer and anti-gay “dem” does that bode well for liberal/progressive policy? Ugh!! Glad he’s “happy” tho.

I think it was good for wapo to print Palin’s op piece, so the actual issues can be debated instead of her legs and hair and boobs and lips and wardrobe and shoes. She says “Our representatives in Copenhagen should remember that good environmental policymaking is about weighing real-world costs and benefits — not pursuing a political agenda.” What does she think a “political agenda” is???? Easy way out. I wish those scientists had not given her and others this kind of talking point. It could have been avoided. There’s still so much science behind this! This op ed should be fair game ! On second thought, maybe she’s right….. a political agenda has nothing to do with policy! Now THAT’S change.

Its astrology and she is a very poetic writer - symbolism and mythologies of the current moment, not so nuts and bolts as Nancy with who’s up and who’s down. I really love her writing tho (as I do Nancy’s), as it helps me to navigate these energies in my life. Interesting takes on Uranus - what do you think Nancy?

The Raging Universe writer makes the observation that President Obama’s chart is more of a religious leader than a political leader. Makes sense to me. He inspires a sort of leftie (and a good deal of rightie) religious sort of zeal. For those of us who are into our spiritual teachers not prescribed by the state it seems uncanny that so many people are into him like a cult leader. Or like a teenage crush - a mad crush. One site even had a post on it. “Leaving a Cult?”:

http://www.talkleft.com/story/2009/12/8/163130/436

I wonder what the stars have in store for third parties? If Kaine is DNC and Obama is running again, I’ll be out there for the Green or Peace parties. Is the US to be dominated into ruin by the two corporate parties??

Oh btw, sorry for any downer part of this comment.

All is happy - Obama fought for a great health care reform bill and we are out of Iraq and Afghanistan. No more torture, or rendition, Gitmo is closed. Women’s rights and gay rights have been strengthened and we are at full employment!!!!

For all who want only happy comments:

Good news! Both wars are ended and all troops are home. No more mercenaries Or torture, rendition. Everyone like us!!!! Obama fought for and won great health care reform - no worries there for anyone!! And jobs - no prob!!! Banks are having to behave but that sets the rest of us free! Civil liberties are back in the news and its good news for progressives. Women’s rights are good - no losing any rights like we would have under McCain! And women are even being included in the big boy’s games!!! Gays are allowed to have rights too - DADT and DOMA are history!!!! What am I forgetting? I know there is other good news somewhere…… Oh, yes our shared and beloved hatred…. we HATE anyone who is not just like us and that is really working!!!! sorry, no links just yet…

This writer is an astrologer but has a different focus than Nancy. Raging Universe is a very poetic take on the contemporary symbolism and mythologies of astrology. I like it since it really puts into perspective and helps me, personally, with the energies. I like Nancy’s interpretations as a day to day ‘who’s up and who’s down’ perspective. Raging Universe’s take on the energies of Uranus are really interesting - what do you think Nancy? I would really like to know if the symbolic interpretations of planets and signs and houses etc have much impact on the interpretation of the mundane readings of events and how much the symbolic interpretations differ. (honest and sincere question!!!!)

This is what I meant about more brute force with Mars Rx in the progressed chart of the U.S., plus T Mars will also be Rx starting Dec. 21.

This means that taxpayers get screwed twice - first when we bailed them out, and now the banks are rushing to pay back the TARP money. Why? So they won’t have to abide by stricter government regulations soon to take effect. Now watch the credit card companies jack up interest rates for unpaid balances on their cards.

lunagardener - I agree that Karen Bishop sums up much of what many of us are experiencing and our weariness with the “old” world. It makes it difficult to dialogue the issues and impatient with the lack of consciousness displayed by so many at this late stage as we go towards the energies of 2012.

AKA, loved your post!

I watched the presentation of the Nobel Peace Prize. The BBC with MSNBC in small screen. The entire ceremony was covered by the BBC, while MSNBC talked over all but Obama’s speech. They cheat the American people of history and the greatness of what is actually going on. They are shameful to the power of ten.

Obama’s speech was magnificent, and I might say very pragmatic. I support the words of his speech.

Pat C: Obama’s speech was magnificent, and I might say very pragmatic. I support the words of his speech.

That’s all well and good but the big question is if Obama will back up his own words?

Pat C - What wonderful news to begin the day. On BBC is a video of his speech. I am not certain if it is the entire speech, but it is two minutes from a special human being.

Deborah, his speech was quite long. I hope it is made available. It’s worth the time to watch.

The Nobel presenter also made a very eloquent explanation of why in the fabric of history Obama was chosen, and if you can find that, it is really worth watching.

“That’s all well and good but the big question is if Obama will back up his own words?”

Roderick, that’s always the challenge.

Yes, it is important to understand the Prize itself. Described by the Nobel Prize organization:

“…has been awarded for achievements in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and for peace.”

President Obama has been awarded for what he has already successfully accomplished. And so, perhaps the bar has been raised upon future expectations.

All the outer planets on go??!! The super-collider smashed an atom yesterday. Wonder what this means for us.

Pat C: Roderick, that’s always the challenge.

It’s only an issue if you want to do what is convenient rather than what is right.

Lorrie U Thanks for Posting Bill Herbst….I had lost track of his site.

I listened to the BBC on my commute today listening to callers commenting on the prize from around the world. One former Nobel winner did note that the US has not signed on to any treaty’s still… The land mine treaty, and a long list of others. I thought this was a very good point. Does anyone understand why we aren’t signing treaty’s for womens rights and such? One treaty has been signed by every country in the world except the US and Somalia….

The NPR commute in the morning was focusing on the recent billion dollar award from the Dept of the Interior to the Indian land trusts after years of not paying royalties on resources mined from native American lands. A huge event really. I think this is a remarkable thing for this administration to do at long last. Bush Sr., Clinton, and Jr. all shirked the responsibility to do what what right when they had the opportunity.

I think many of the good things that are are being accomplished in one short year needs a bit more attention.

A truly great speech by Obama for his Nobel Prize. He knew he didin’t deserve it at this point, and he had the intelligence and grace to say so. Perhaps one day he will, but now he is a war president whether anybody likes it or not.

Three sitting US presidents have received the Nobel Peace Prize. Obama was not as deserving as Woodrow Wilson in 1919, who was one of the main founders of the League of Nations after World War I, the forerunner to the UN. But the most undeserved Peace Prize given to an American President went to Teddy Roosevelt, whose diplomacy of infamy in 1905 on behalf of Japan against Russia led directly to the day of infamy that was Pearl Harbor in 1941. See the article below published recently in the New York Times. At least we know Obama will never stoop that low.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/06/opinion/06bradley.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=diplomacy%20of%20infamy&st=cse

Pat,

You think MSNBC was bad? I was on one of the network channels, pretty sure it was ABC, and they were talking DURING the speech by the President! At least in the beginning they were; I switched to MSNBC so I could hear what he had to say. Watched to see if at 8 AM (EST) they would cut away, but they didn’t. I agree, there’s a lot of history being made that gets lost because of the babble of the commentators, but it was definitely worse on the one network channel I found that carried it. Tragic.

It was an enthralling speech, or maybe I’m just being overly emotional. It was so nice to not be embarrassed by our president as in the olden days! Will try to do a chart on it to see if it portends something interesting. Think it started around 7:50 or so local time. If anyone knows for sure let me know.

a snippet from Raging Universe (written on October 8):

“I associate Scorpio with honesty, a very strange phenomenon that can’t be explained and often can’t be deciphered, especially in ourselves. Yet humans crave it, and of course, fear it. We have a million reasons to cover up the naked truth and most of the time that’s necessary, but in this Scorpio season with Saturn coming to square Pluto, a fine opportunity has come to strip the pretense. If people are afraid that removing the facade might be too much for others, it probably wouldn’t be if we trusted them and gave them the benefit of our overwhelming doubt. And thankfully, Saturn in Libra infuses the ugly realities with grace and beauty as they slowly reveal themselves, along with providing useful equilibrium. A good combination.

Our financial systems are based on trust (Scorpio) and betrayal ensures downfall. Boy howdy, do insurance companies know this. Your Public Option has been a game from the beginning and a fantastic example of the marketing manipulation that defines modern day politics. And who started it? Everyone. And what is it? No one knows. It really isn’t real. Yet it’s become the cornerstone of existence and the sole object of hope’s pin. ”

Another from Raging Universe (October 12th)

“Neptune, Uranus, and Cognitive Dissonance

Like so many others, when the winner of this year’s Nobel Prize was announced I did a double take. I thought it was a hoax. Then I realized it was the perfect sham. Well done.
When NPR read the two top news headlines of the day, they were, “Obama Wins Nobel Prize for Peace,” and “Obama Meets With Military Advisor to Discuss Escalation of War in Afghanistan.”
That’s pretty dissonant. The scramble to justify the award tells the whole tale. But within the lapse of sanity is the opportunity to understand more of what’s happening to the collective mind.

I won’t go into the many details of why this is so ludicrous, but I will relate the event to current astrological configurations at work. My first instinct told me it had something to do with the Uranus-Neptune mutual reception, and yes, they are both stationing at 22/23 degrees and when they go direct, Jupiter will conjoin Neptune again for a continuing look at the mental breakdown of society, the delusions of hero worship, and the bipolar journey between hope and despair that is marking the path to the cardinal transits ahead. It’s no mistake that yet another “speech” is scheduled on the next conjunction. Probably the end-all be-all speech of all time. But it’s all in the game. As much as people want to continue the fantasy, it will probably go soon. Pluto, Uranus, and Saturn are not the stuff of Hallmark cards.

Uranus is unsentimental insight and dry intellect. Neptune is emotional flooding often divergent from reality. The two have been bumping and grinding for years affecting humanity’s perceptions. With this station people are sensing the discord and starting to doubt the authenticity of the peacemaker’s words, especially with two wars going, one heating up further with expressed excitement. People are trapped. Anyone but Bush has become no one but Obama. There is underlying panic since they don’t know whether or not to trust him. They might never know. The smartest thing if one is interested in psychological growth is to recognize the flaws, both in ourselves and out there, considering that the exacting perfectionist Saturn is coming to town, not to overlook the years of Pluto in Capricorn. A stellar opportunity for self improvement.

Let’s take a look at Obama’s chart to see why he fits this puzzle so perfectly.
An outstanding connection is the elevated Neptune (illusions) in the 9th house of religion square Jupiter (religion) in the 12th (spirituality), and the Sun (leadership). The strong emotional nature of Neptune in Scorpio indicates a dominant desire to be a religious leader. He fashions himself as a sort of global guru, jetting around his kingdom in luxury (Leo), being entertained lavishly by royalty worldwide. Unfortunately, Saturn retrograde in the 12th delays spiritual attainment until later in life, and even though he might achieve that one day, he’s not ready now. At this point he lacks Saturnian substance and cannot be taken seriously. He’s the American Idol. A magazine cover figure, a playboy among the ultra wealthy, complete with photo shoots at exotic sacred sites. So this is another opportunity for the nation to understand herself and why she got into this particular predicament.

Adding to the illusion is transiting Neptune in his first house soon to oppose his chart ruler, Uranus. He is the Grand Illusion Incarnate clouding the clear view continuously. “Let me be clear,” he pleads over and over. Increasing insecurity is nudging people to question the wisdom of following blindly. The award makes no sense and the attempt to prove otherwise has proven to be difficult if not impossible. It really is absurd. That’s the good part.

Mercury square Neptune also inflated by Jupiter points to the mesmerizing use of words. Evasions, persuasions, and even departures from fact. This repeats our own country’s Mars in Gemini square Neptune providing another opportunity to see. Can we ever be honest? Can we cease being trite?

A further factor is the moon at the foundation of his chart square Pluto, a deep point of insecurity and need. Pluto rules his 10th house and the parental axis is highlighted in all that he does. He demands that we the people give him the attention he never got. It can be inexhaustible and exhausting. Even The Prize won’t do it.

This repeats our own Pluto opposite Cancerian Venus going on now and is again repeated in the 29 Scorpio moon (the public) of the inaugural chart square the executive. With the Plutonian factor there’s an element of bondage, but freedom from that is a valuable goal. By the time this winds down I expect the citizens to recognize the problem somewhat so they can move forward and take a serious look at leadership, possibly a more conscious one, when Pluto opposes USA Sun square Saturn.

Then there’s the looming hidden Saturn retrograde in Capricorn in the 12th. Here’s where the so-called honor of this prestigious award gets interesting.

With this placement the individual wants to be accepted by the wealthy establishment and now he’s apparently attained that wish. Unhappily for him, he actually hasn’t. Again, too soon. Saturn in Capricorn especially has to earn recognition through extensive sustained effort. They’re playing with him. Puppies everywhere. He might awaken from his fairy tale, he might not. He might do well. It matters not. What matters is how society uses this bounty of knowledge.

So in the end I think the award was not really an honor, but more of a humiliation and exposure of the superficiality of our culture. A cosmic mockery, both of the recipient and of the traditional institution as Pluto in Capricorn reveals the errors of the status quo. We suddenly believe we are redeemed after wreaking economic havoc on the world with still no attempt to fix it? After invading a virtually unarmed country and now stepping up a war for profit in another poor country? Dangerously meddling in South America? With instant milk we’re cradled in the breast of comfort again?
The most beneficial aspect, I think, is the reaction of outrage as a preliminary step to acquiring strength and energy for the cardinal years. It seems like every event is creating rage and division these days. Exactly as it should be, in my view. Saturn, Uranus, Pluto, Aries, and Capricorn are not exactly a historic walk in an impressionistic flower garden.
What Can We Do?
Proceed with the weaning. The prize itself is unimportant, and so is the man ultimately. Some tremble in anticipation of the future, some welcome falling axes and opportunities to triumph, pushing on to greater achievements. Taking a good look at what’s behind the thinning veil appeals to me since the invitation to advance comes with it. And banking on our real assets.

!

The Raging Universe piece seems somewhat biased by the interpreter’s perception.

Speaking of perception, I have come across a wonderful book which I highly recommend called “The Astrology of 2012 and Beyond” by Cal Garrison and forward by Drumvalo Melchizedek. A quote: “The long-awaited Second Coming of Christ is, in fact, the awakening of the Christ Consciousness within–and the extent to which we can activate and embody that principle has everything to do with how the End Times unfold…each and every one of us is going through The Great Shift of the Ages, looking out upon the events that are about to unfold through our own private window of experience.”

I was deeply moved by Obama’s speech. Elegant and of stunning depth. Deeply/depth-I know but those are the words that keep repeating. I hope that I have learned to wait to see where he is going but I may never have the patience-elegance is not something associated with my Mercury conjunct Uranus.

Melissa Bean’s backers are key Obama associates

A group of “New Democrats” led by Representative Melissa Bean has reportedly won major concessions in the financial reform fight:

“The compromise reached late Wednesday between pro-reform House Democrats and the banker-friendly wing of the party could significantly weaken consumer protection in states where lawmakers support tougher rules against tactics such as predatory lending and excessive ATM fees than historically submissive federal regulators.”

Barney Frank chalked up Bean’s intransigence to the lobbying of a generic group of “big banks,” without providing much in the way of details. The Huffington Post has pointed to the amount of campaign cash flowing from Wall Street, and Public Citizen released a report on the subject on Tuesday.

But “big banks” have a human side, after all; Bean draws her support from real, live, human beings. And a closer look at who these people are suggests that the Representative’s efforts are backed by financial elites tightly linked to President Obama.

More at the link….

I really have the impression that AKA harasses with some of her posts.

Teresa Hill “And your enjoyment of Will’s leaving was something I found really distateful.”

I did not enjoy that exchange with Will at all!!!!!!! Let me remind you he asked me to show him where he had a straw man argument. I chose to give him the benefit of the doubt and not think he was being sarcastic and demeaning, so I answered him as clearly as I could at that moment. He then refused to respond and then suddenly he had to move on to happier websites. I actually hope he is not that psychologically fragile that some internet honesty drives him off — actually, really. Not laughing. I hope he comes back if that is what makes him and y’all happy.

Nancy - really enjoyed the article. Folks, I haven’t had the time to read all of your comments, but one of Will’s caught my eye - the Mars square Jupiter one.

When Mars goes retrograde next week it will be stationing in an exact square to my 5th house Taurus Sun. I still have grandchildren living here today, hope to know for how long soon, feel like I can’t do any long-range planning, but I wondered if anyone had clues on what this mars station will do. My natal Sun doesn’t make many aspects, the tightest being a conjunction natally to Black Moon Lilith…

I’ll check in when I can. Thanks for still being here.

AKA,

I didn’t say you enjoyed the exchange with will, but that you seemed to enjoy him leaving. Which I find distasteful.

If you came here to try to move people to your own point of view about politics, you’re in the wrong place. If that’s what you want — a debate about politics — there are tons of sites out there for that sort of thing. This isn’t it.

It feels to me like you want nothing to do with a discussion about the astrology of the time and politics, but that you just want to stir up trouble here and pick fights.
–Teresa

Gypsi,

I’ve been wondering about the Mars retrograde, too. I have Mars conjunct my natal Mars/8th house, and in opposition to my natal Saturn and the triple conjunction.

I want to see Mars as simply energy. So energy on top of energy, activating my Saturn with help from the conjunction. Mars is at heart energy, right? Doesn’t have to be bad. So with the retrograde… maybe pulled in two different directions? Wanting to go forward, but being held back? I certainly feel that energetically right now.

For your square… if the square is a tough aspect to your sun, does a tough aspect in retrograde make a good aspect? Or do you just feel like the planet is toying with you? Coming to get you, then backing off, only to come at you again? Oooh.

MATTHEW ON THE NORWAY SPIRAL”Matthew says this is the most profound sign yet from our brothers and sisters in other civilizations that the time is nearing for their presence to be properly acknowledged — there is no way that those who do not want that to happen can explain away this dramatic sign. The overall spiral represents the unbroken interconnectedness of all souls from our Beginnings in the light — the intense light at the center — and the blue spiral aimed at Earth is the most forceful evidence to date of their desire for us to consciously connect with them in the same spirit they have come. The timing and location are significant, selected to mark the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to US President Obama for his vision and dedication to achieving world peace and to indicate that they are here to assist us reach this goal.”

To answer AKA-I was referring to you posting the entire piece here rather than a link for those unfamiliar with the site could look it up.
Pat C. AKA is rude and worst aggressive here. I find her “initials” humorous AKA as in the automatic weapon and the “also known as”-seems to me that for some reason “she” wants to disrupt things here. Weird.

I refrained from reading comments since several weeks-months. I have to many problems– real serious problems, with my own extended family which portrays the same behaviourism like the banksters’ and other gangster of our governments. I have had it with all the dishonesty, lies misuse of power and abuse of us the people, — if you can not get it by honest hard work, –steel it, criminalise the people to get all out of them for your own benefits and advantage.
So please STOP THE HERO WORSHIP — one day you will wake up and you will realize you are in the gutter and you have been had.

The articel posted by By: AKA on December 10th, 2009 at 4:18 pm tells it all.

Only pity is the missing link!!!!!

For the hero worship groupies– You will have a terrible wake up call by summer/fall 2010.

.So this is about looking at where Mars in Leo is aspecting a chart, what planets are involved, where are they and where are the rulers of the planets and signs and houses. and what condition are they in?
Traditionally the Mars retrograde is feared as a time when Kings are murdered and all manner of terribleness comes about. This certainly seems possible with Mars in Leo-the pride of the King has been wounded. Still I am thinking that this is for Obama a time when he will be reviewing his first year-the right wing/Republican assassins are out for him. Pray that no one feels the need to kill him but they are attempting to destroy his term as President.
From what I have been hearing today it seems that EVERYONE is hating him-I found his speech elegant and honest. Recently Pat C. directed our attention to those Northern countries and their huge wealth and the power they have over world economies and politics.

Vera - “For the hero worship groupies– You will have a terrible wake up call by summer/fall 2010.”

I’m not a “hero worship groupie,” just someone who feels our president is dealing with a big, inherited mess, who is only one person doing the best he can in the face of myriad hostilities and judgmental, prejudiced, fearmongering, bipartisan groupies.

When consciousness reaches a level where we all feel connected by ONE creator, then perhaps the name-calling, hate-mongering, hope someone else fails so that we can win mentality, might go by the wayside and progress can happen. Until then, divisiveness and the inability to see the humanness of others will continue the world as it is right now, except for those who have consciousness and can see beyond the pettiness.

Charles (CJ) I would love to read the rest of what Matthew had to say about the Norway Light. I can’t get into that website and am hoping it’s because so many people are trying to access. Thanks for posting.

YIKES, y’all!

I honestly don’t see this “hero worship” of Obama that some keep alluding to. All over the net, people are voicing their dissatisfaction with what’s gone on recently and yet recognize that years and years of this hellishness cannot be fixed immediately.

He is one man who took on what I feel is a HUGE HUGE task. We cannot know what it feels like to assume this role nor would I personally want to. So, I’m inclined to give him some slack at this point. Things are just a mess all over. I’m not one with stars in my eyes at all.

With regard to the piece from Raging Universe that AKA posted - it totally didn’t resonate with me. That’s not to say it’s not accurate or whatever, but the whole tone of it really just made a “clunking” sound in my head which is my big clue that it’s not resonating to me as truth.

To Vera, I’d say this: I don’t think you’re seeing the “Hero Worship” stuff on this blog. If anything, there’s a very balanced view presented by Nancy and most of the other commenters.

I hold no illusions that Obama is the one who will save us all. I do trust that he will do his best for the highest good of our nation given what he knows and has control over and that’s something I cannot say about many others. Will I add my voice to the masses when something happens that I don’t like? Yes. That’s my part to do.

That’s all that was posted at this time.

Thank you to Teresa Hill, Charles, Clymela, Lorrie U, Noelle and MysticalChick for making Nancy’s wonderful site so encouraging. You are all a breath of sanity and light.

Too bad that’s it’s always the wrong people leaving.

Personally, I have stopped reading anything marked ‘AKA’ since this person has already demonstrated their total obtuseness quite a while ago, when. on the subject of that clownish Sarah Palin, every Palin critique infallibly made AKA jump into your face and accuse you of being anti-women.

Otherwise, dear starlighters, please know that I am here and reading and enjoying your insightful conversation every day.

Love

Well said, Sunflower.

Guess there is no discussion on the astrological ideas I forwarded?

I find the personality cult mindlessness on the “left” (Obama) and the “right” (Palin) to really obscure things that are actually happening and that can deeply impact lives. Maybe y’all are in the “bonus class” and are not feeling the economy and have no interest in the insurance profit maximizer bill or the give away to wall street financial “reform” bill. But to just have advocacy for personalities is not real! And the left has been utterly stupid about Palin - just called her sexist names and not engaged with substance and now she is viewed as a charismatic leader of a populist movement (see recent NewYorker article) and the dems are seen as completely corporate owned. Dems used to be the party of the people. That is no longer. So blindly advocating for the dem party is essentially advocating for corporate power. Wake up.

If you haven’t seen photos of the Norway spiral, here is a link to an article about it on spaceweather.com. Click on the additional links for more photos and video. Beautiful!

This is no TEA PARTY AKA. Go find one. We don’t want to even engage this ignorance. You are just derailing the place.

AKA - we know what’s going on and who’s doing what to whom. We just choose to not get our shorts in a wad over it. There’s also this ssaying - this too shall pass. We do what we can, recognize that the stars are at work, and go from there. Not a help at all to get all tense and angry - just a waste of energy and often makes things worse.

Just chill and all will work out or it won’t. :-)

After Dubai, Greece, Iceland and Ireland, now Ukraine is in economic freefall. The cardinal T-square is tightening just in time for the new year.

Whatever caused the Norway spiral, it must have been amazing to see it. Here’s a quote from a witness (from the spaceweather.com article):

“We are used to seeing lots of auroras here in Norway, but this was different,” says Nick Banbury of Harstad who witnessed the phenomenon on his way to work “between 7:50 and 8:00 a.m. local time… It consisted initially of a green beam of light similar in color to the aurora with a mysterious rotating spiral at one end. This spiral then got bigger and bigger until it turned into a huge halo in the sky with the green beam extending down to Earth. According to press reports, this could be seen all over northern Norway and must therefore have been very high up in the atmosphere to be seen hundreds of km apart.”

What a thing to see on your way to work!

Did anyone see Law and Order SVU the other night? It slammed right wing hate radio/TV as having a really dark, hypnotizing effect on listeners. Now O’Reilly is angry. LOL!!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/ynews_en1030;_ylt=An7u03aD3sFWXaMiWzlU6Mys0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTNqcHBvZm01BGFzc2V0A3luZXdzLzIwMDkxMjExL3luZXdzX2VuMTAzMARjY29kZQNtb3N0cG9wdWxhcgRjcG9zAzgEcG9zAzUEcHQDaG9tZV9jb2tlBHNlYwN5bl9oZWFkbGluZV9saXN0BHNsawNiaWxsb3JlaWxseWw-

Sparking O’Reilly’s ire was an episode of “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” that aired earlier in the week, in which a crazed anti-immigration activist set out to murder the children of illegal immigrants. In one scene, a character named Randall Carver, played by veteran actor John Larroquette, is sitting on a park bench talking to Fin, the detective played by Ice-T. In defending the actions of the man who killed the immigrants’ children, Larroquette’s character says, “Limbaugh, Beck, O’Reilly, all of ‘em, they are like a cancer spreading ignorance and hate…They’ve convinced folks that immigrants are the problem, not corporations that fail to pay a living wage or a broken health care system…”

AKA- ” Will, I hope you find happy places to visit and I hope my asking you for a decent reply was not too much for you.” This was/is a very petty comment.

Also, please just add links to your suggested sites. No everyone agrees with everyone elses interputation of astrology. And using other astrology sites just to defend yourself and take a dig at certain commentors is lets say… just not pretty.
(Example: “We have a million reasons to cover up the naked truth and most of the time that’s necessary, but in this Scorpio season with Saturn coming to square Pluto, a fine opportunity has come to strip the pretense. If people are afraid that removing the facade might be too much for others, it probably wouldn’t be if we trusted them and gave them the benefit of our overwhelming doubt.” -raging universe

Sarah Palin was real popular with Texas men, as a hot soccer mom with grassroots knowledge, but most of the men she was popular with can’t tie their own shoes. I think that covered her attributes. And I have an iron backbone and skin of a close to steel consistency.

Nuff said. a stationing planet in tight aspect to a natal planet is a kind of constant energy flow until the planet goes direct and re-passes the station. What I see is other people’s money problems posing somewhat of a threat to myself and my grandchildren who are in my care (T Mars 8th/ N Sun 5th). I am dealing with nitpicky paperwork covering what can be covered one item at a time, and am trying not to lose my house. But I suppose Palin has that all covered and how it’s all my fault my customers can’t afford me…

Will - YOU ARE MISSED!!!

You all can choose to hear my words as you wish - I can’t change that. Carol, I was including Raging Universe because I am actually really interested - no, fascinated - by the symbology of what is happening astrologically now. I did not include the site for any other reason. I think the idea of wanting to cover up truth and this being a time that is extremely tense for that is really valid. I thought looking at Uranus is cool and unsentimental and intellectually insightful is interesting. And that this cool unsentimental energy is bumping up again and again with floodingly emo Neptune in our public dialog - this is interesting to me. I thought that the idea that our public dialog is obscuring some real issues was interesting. I thought that parts of Pluto in Cap - being at the very beginning of this transit - was interesting. I thought that reading Obama’s chart with a different pov from Nancy’s and other astrologers here was interesting (RU author seems to have a cultural pov and Nancy a political pov - don’t know if that is the difference or not)(btw, both pov’s are valid!!). I thought that believing in something called “public option” being a symbol of something it is actually not, was interesting.

About Will, I AM sorry he chose to leave. Sincerely. Hope he changes his mind! But it does not make me emotional - happy or sad. His choice. I did ask him for a reply and if his decision had anything to do with my asking that or my calling out on his straw man argument then that is a pity!! All is would have taken for him to reply to me was to say “point taken”. done. I actually do hope he finds what he is looking for - don’t know the guy, but wish him the very best.

If this country gets a president Palin I will blame the machine dems . This should have been stopped long ago - both with real substantive debate and some real non-corporate-dominated populist governing by the dems. I will be, again, out on the street for the Green and Peace parties.

Gypsi,

So the retrograde is no relief at all? Darn. Feel for you with the kids. My parents took in my sister and her four, after her husband walked out on them. And now they’ve just taken in one grandchild and her brand new baby.

I keep looking at the baby’s picture and her chart and thinking… Wow, brave soul to come into this situation.

Starlight,

What do you see about health care reform? Hold out much hope for meaningful health care reform at this point?

As previously stated, some $463 billion is being taken out of Medicare in the health reform bill in the Senate to pay in part for this new health care “reform” program.

This now, from Sen Mark Udall’s site:

______________

http://markudall.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=355

Posted: Wednesday, December 9, 2009 12:00 AM | Legislative Session: 111th Congress, 1st Session (2010)

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Mark Udall joined a bipartisan group of 27 Senators in cosponsoring legislation to create a special commission to find ways to bring down the nation’s debt. In press conferences in Washington, D.C., and with reporters in Colorado, Senator Udall made clear that he cannot support imminent legislation needed to raise the debt limit - the amount of money the United States can borrow - unless the commission is created or steps are taken to rein in deficit spending.

(snip)

“Now is the time to stop making excuses and confront our long-term fiscal imbalances,” Senator Udall continued. “I believe the creation of a special bipartisan commission is the best opportunity to bridge partisan divides and protect the economic future of our country.”

At current projections, within 10 years we will pay more than $700 billion in annual interest alone - more than our entire annual defense budget. That’s money that will not be used to improve America in any way, but simply given away to our creditors, many of which are nations with competing national interests, like China.

Under the Bipartisan Task Force for Responsible Fiscal Action Act of 2009, an 18-member commission would review the entire federal budget and make recommendations for long-term fiscal sustainability, with specific spending cuts, program changes, and a mandate that Congress vote on those recommendations.

The commission would be made up of the Treasury Secretary, another appointee from the Administration, and 16 lawmakers - eight currently serving Democrats, and eight currently serving Republicans. Before any recommendations could be submitted to Congress, 14 of the 18 members would be required to sign off. Both the commission’s report would be due and congressional action required soon after the November 2010 elections, so as to take as much political posturing out of the process as possible. Congress would then take an up-or-down vote on the recommendations without amendments. Final passage would require a 3/5 majority in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.

_____________

My comments:

IMHO:

1. This is aimed at cutting the deficit. The two largest budget busting programs are Social Security and Medicare.

2. I saw a clip discussing this between Dorgan and McConnell, and both were eager to do it, and both speaking in terms of curtailing entitlements. Unfortunately, this was C-SPAN TV and I can not find a link to the clip on c-span.org.

3. Well, so what? Its a commission, right? We have had lots of those.

4. Not like this:

5. The commissions report is due and CONGRESSIONAL ACTION REQUIRED AFTER the mid term elections next year. Thats right, AFTER.

6. So none of this gets discussed during the election, or voted on by the people, and once folks are safely elected they get to vote all in mass with no amendments either up or down. Great cover for doing what ever the “commission” recommends.

Don’t believe me?

Check it out for yourself, this is coming, and they are cooking it up as we speak.

MysticalChick: I second your comments.

Pres. Obama in his speech at Norway, spoke about the Divine Spark within each of us. One of the few times he received an applause. He continually throws out hints and reminders that we are one and it will take all of us to do this.

Nancy- I didn’t see that episode of “Law and Order” but I regret this now with your report. Talk radio was the social conditioning used in Uganda and Rwanda to turn those societies into the racist, murdering, raping hell holes that they became.
I am so grateful to know that someone is pushing back now.
Now we need to get publicity to the fact that the Teabaggers, etc are all financed by the Koch brothers-billionaires who buy politicians to do their work.

ON THE NORWAY SPIRAL
Only news pundits like Beck, O’Reilly, and people like Palin could spread a wild story such that a Russian rocket could produce such a sight.

I don’t believe that Russia would dare to fire anything near Norway during President Obama’s trip for the purpose of receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.

Further, every rocket misfired produced chaotic explosions along with fragments falling to the earth, not viewed in Norway.

Speaking of Budget Busters - Citibank took bailout money and loaned it to Dubai World. yada yada yada

clymela - It was very powerful. The followers of the TV personality were angry and yelling and a hair trigger from violence. In fact, one of the followers committed murders supposedly after being agitated by the hate speech. It was pretty clear what it was about. The “defense” was based on the fact that the murderer had been brainwashed.

Teresa - The Jupiter Neptune conjunction is building up strength now through 12/22 and with it we will see hope for health care build, I think. Jupiter then crosses US Moon through January 5. I don’t know how much can be resolved by this time, probably not enough for full passage. Maybe just the Senate bill. The Inaugural progressed Moon will square Venus in July 2010, and that might bring something along with the Jupiter station square US Venus.

Don’t worry AKA. I get you. Let it roll off your back. I’m amazed how people can constantly point out other peoples “flaws” and in the act of doing so commit the exact same things they accuse others of doing. Come on … it’s Christmas. “Tis the season to be joyful”, not ganging up on somebody.

And zeroastrian (sp?) the Rolling Stone article was very on point.

New thread up.
