I just noticed a Moon/ Mars square through tomorrow (12/26) afternoon (EST) that will be in minor hard aspect to the Jupiter/Uranus opposition (20 cardinal to 5 mutable). Watch for explosive events tomorrow afternoon. Not good that Saturn is now opposite US Mars. This one could impact the US more directly.

Uranus opposite Jupiter

Merry Christmas Nancy and thanks for the new thread, new thoughts. Like you and connimac, I dread not having the reassurance that Pres. Obama has provided in times of world and national crisis. One small way of combating this feeling is to think of it all as a learning experience. You know, like grade school (Gemini/Mercury).

In school, not everyone is at the same level or ability to comprehend, thus, the “instructor” (life, destiny) must simplify (dumb down?) the lessons in order to reach as many students as possible. I trust then that those things that will seem most scary to us will most benefit the slow students, yet we all must prepare for the unexpected (even if we expected it!)

Thanks for the heads up dates and I would add another planet to your list; transiting Chiron exactly squares transiting Saturn (21 01 Pisces-Sagittarius) on the same day as the Capricorn New Moon, December 28th. That means the U.S. Mars at 21 Gemini 23 makes it a T-square and the U.S. Neptune at 22 Virgo 25 completes a challenging grand cross. This will be in effect until the following New Moon in January.

Something else, a minor aspect, that transiting Mars will be doing in the Dec 28th New Moon is allowing a septile to form between Pluto to the midpoint between Mars and Neptune (a separation of 51.4 degrees). This aspect is a division of a circle by 7 and 7 is a non-rational number.

Robert Wilkinson sees this (division by 7) as contributing a non-rational effect between the two points forming the septile. He says “. . they show as obsessive or compulsive behavior, irrational or strange inexplicable points in the process.”

So, transiting Pluto, with the help of transiting Mars is regenerating the off and on septile aspect it has had with transiting Neptune for a number of years. My first thought was Israel and Palestine.
This of course will add definition to the problematic course transiting Mars makes in the coming days and months you describe above.

Wilkinson describes the septile as a fork-in-the-road-of-destiny and says “reason and rationality may not serve” your ability to make choices. You can read more if you like at this site . . .

Although I understand the sarcasm….. by labeling the democratic mindset as being stuck in some sort of repetitive jargon, time warp may be missing the point. The old system is breaking down before our very eyes and what is required is the courage to find a new way, hopefully before we are overwhelmed and unraveled by the Trump “wild west” show. To be cynical is of the old world mentality. If an imminent major shift is about to happen (Trump will surely take us to the precipice – no doubt about it), we will need to reconsider what are our essentials and throw out the rest. Negativity is not one of those things you would want to hold on to when the s..t hits the fan. It’s time to start afresh. We will need to find a new way. One way to start is to become a little more circumspect about all this. Smugness is unbecoming for us liberal minded thinkers.

That’s the Republican party we Democrats are suppose to lay down and play nice with now? Look who is being pretentious, condescending and smug now? If the DNC isn’t willing to change course and find a new way, a third party is going to have to come forward to represent the people. Because of the septile aspect in the December 28 New Moon chart between Pluto and the Mars- Neptune midpoint, and because of the septile’s association with irrationality, I looked at the chart for Israel (the irrational factor being Netanyahu) for any connection between them (December’s NM and Israel).

I also looked at the chart for the start of the Pluto-Neptune cycle since this septile will activate it’s energy pattern. Luckily, the chart for Israel is linked in a comment above (Ed Tamplin piece) and is shown with a second chart which is for the start of the present Jupiter-Saturn cycle.

Coincidentally, the Neptune-Pluto cycle’s chart, a cycle that began back in 1891, holds an opposition between Jupiter and Saturn, telling us that the Jupiter-Saturn (cultural/societal movements) cycle was to be relevant in the Neptune-Pluto cycle’s work. Any cycle’s half-way point (the opposition) is a point to take stock in the relationship between what is represented by the opposing planets.

The Neptune-Pluto conjunction chart has another pertinent aspect; it took place at 8+ Gemini, the same degree as the U.S. natal Uranus. I take from these two things that it is possible this present Saturn-Jupiter cycle has a great deal of direct influence on Israel (Israel natal Sun conjunct the present Jupiter-Saturn cycle starting point), and. . .

. . . the Neptune-Pluto cycle has a great deal of influence on the U.S. (U.S. Uranus conjunct the present Neptune-Pluto starting point). Might there be a connection then between Uranus in the U.S. chart and the country of Israel? If so, might the present Saturn-Jupiter cycle have some bearing on the relationship between these two countries? Is it time to evaluate this relationship (full moon aspect in the Neptune-Pluto chart)?

I’m inclined to think yes. The U.S. Uranus is very close to the cusp of the U.S. chart’s 7th house of partners which could describe the U.S. relationship with Israel. Uranus, a symbol associated with rebellion and instability, might further describe the present U.S. perspective of Israel.

If the cycle between Pluto and Neptune started at the degree of the U.S. Uranus, and if that Uranus is associated with the U.S. relationship with Israel, and if the upcoming New Moon has Pluto septile Neptune (thanks to transiting Mars) an aspect associated with non-rational behavior . .

. . and if the chart for the Pluto-Neptune cycle start holds a major turning point in the Saturn-Jupiter cycle of that time (circa 1891), could it not be triggered by the present aspect between transiting Saturn and Jupiter?

The present aspect between Saturn and Jupiter, although not exact until next August, is a sextile and denotes cooperation.

I’ll go out on a limb and say that the aspect between Pluto and Neptune (+ Mars) in the December 28th New Moon chart, a New Moon which sextiles Mars and Neptune by the way, suggests that the testy relationship between U.S. and Israel will be resolved by next Fall.

The December 28 Capricorn New Moon’s square between Saturn (21+ Sagittarius) and Chiron (21+ Pisces) that forms a grand cross with the U.S. natal square between Mars (21+ Gemini) and Neptune (22+ Virgo) most likely includes this present fray between the two countries.

However, both transiting Jupiter and transiting Uranus, in opposition to one another, make cooperative aspects to both the U.S. Mars in Gemini and the New Moon’s Saturn in Sagittarius, indicating that there is a process at work that includes overcoming the present hurdles testing the nerves of the world community. It will be the U.S. that barters this outcome.

It is worth noting as well that the December New Moon’s nodes make a sextile (North Node) and a trine (South Node) to the Israel chart’s Venus in Cancer which is one degree from the U.S. Venus. Venus symbolize values and the South Node indicates a time of release, while the North Node indicates opportunities for growth.

In social work school, I learned that melting pot is no longer used and the new metaphor is salad, wherein each “vegetable” retains its character. I guess the dominant group has felt like it’s getting lost. I’m not sure why they can’t be more open-hearted and generous but maybe they HAVE lost jobs, etc. to those who will work at cheaper wages – I don’t know…it would explain the resentment.

I’ve also noticed that people are saying that it’s now ok again to say “Merry Christmas” as if it wasn’t ok before. Maybe some institutions (schools, government agencies) didn’t allow it?

I think that in time, people get used to each other and the changes, but I can understand how they could resent having certain things imposed on them…it could actually increase bigotry rather than lessen it…at least temporarily.

I really think that if we could listen to each other, reason with each other, and try to understand our varied viewpoints (and it really needs to happen mutually), we could break down barriers. There has to be a way to do this and not let those who are judgmental get in the way.

When I referred to the “full moon aspect in the Neptune-Pluto chart” I meant to say the Jupiter-Saturn opposition in the Neptune-Pluto chart.

That was my sub-conscious contribution; all oppositions between any 2 planets have the same effect as a Full Moon. They reveal what has transpired since the 2 opposing planets were last in a conjunction.

Sharon, non judgemental listening is the ideal, but that usually involves fairly evolved characters.
The reality is that opinion and judgment in some form go hand in hand.
The problem is what to do at this moment in time when 80%+? of the people have very fixed opinions, which comes out as harsh judgement of ‘I’m right and everyone else is wrong.’
Realistically, IMO, it will take retraining the next generation of society at a young age, to gain new habits without parental prejudices influencing unduly, if it is every possible to change harsh judgement reflexes en masse.
The very notion runs up against pretty basic human tendencies unfortunately.

One Dem friend thought the political greetings were written by a Dem as an “unoffensive, fun poke at inclusiveness.” Reason #2: it was entitled, ‘Holiday Greetings’ – something a Republican is loathed say now.

Another Dem friend claimed “Republicans are too dumb to write satire”.

I do the same thing, Kiwi, Elizabeth, Helen, et al….I would like to find a way to explain things to Republicans and have them explain things to us, in a reasonable way, so we could arrive at consensus instead of division. It will take some work and some proactiveness and active listening as opposed to reactiveness. Even though Republicans seem to be nationalistic and anti-inclusion, Liberals exclude Republicans because of their opinions, fears, etc., and go on, in the classic “vicious cycle.” I agree, Kiwi, that some people are just too fixed, but there are ways to cut through. One of them is by being interested in the other person’s experience and viewpoint, just as a communication tool, not to let them have power over you. I think that under the surface, people want to get along but there are these protective layers. Sigh. 🙂

Sharon – I think the only way we’re going to come together as a nation is when some major disaster happens that affects us all including the mega wealthy. And, unfortunately, I believe Donald Trump will be it’s conduit.

A lot people have forgotten what it was like when GWB left office. I don’t because I spent several years working with people trying to keep their homes after losing their jobs (husbands and wives losing thier jobs at the same time). Having to ask them to leave their small children in the vistors lounge so they wouldn’t have to listen to our conversation and/or hear their parents breakdown. Let’s not forget the business owers who had their business ruined because their lines of credit were shutoff without any reason or notice and nowhere to turn.

This year I just decided to say “Happy Christmas and a Blessed Yule.” Since I never know WHO I’ll be talking to who is also a Pagan, I decided to let them know we’re not ALL lost in the Xmas fuss. Feels good to me to do it that way, too. Let others think what they will… the Repubs who care are too busy thinking about “Happy” and “Christmas” and tend to miss the last part of the greetings! (LOL)

I believe This has been the worst season of my 61 years. We moved to another city, closer to my elderly mother, and the one in which I work fulltime. My physical disabilities made a 90mi round trip commute and 10-14 hours days impossible to keep up with. So far, so good… right? We found a home… one in which the guy had started remodeling and then left it. But it’s much smaller than the one we had, although I was able to pay for it with my retirement IRA. Now, nothing fits, and everything door that seemed to be opening wide open before is like a brick wall now. What CHANGED?

The move here was the day after the first snowfall and the worst cold weather of all year. Two days later, we were back into the 40’s… but we’d have had no help to move once it got warmer. Between work and trying to pack, it wasn’t all done before moving, and we’ve both lost stuff… including cable boxes!

I rescue, and had 10 cats to move here. I made it with all of them, but one (the still near-feral) is gone and I haven’t seen him since my sister said he took out the blinds in the bedroom.

On top of that, my best bud… the dog who came to me more than 10 years ago broken, starved, and manged with 2 types of mange, as well as heart worms… the huge dog with the even bigger heart, died on Christmas Day. It wasn’t unexpected… but still, I feel like I’ve lost my best friend.

And here I sit in a mess of boxes, clothes, and stuff the last resident left behind, while my hubby is at the old house, trying to gather what we need and left behind. One of my cats and I are fighting for who coughs the most and loudest, and thank goodness it’s only me who has to keep running to the bathroom and changing clothes.

I’m an Aquarian with a Scorpio moon. Since Trump I can’t get out of a funk. I know I have to turn away from the macro and move back into the micro somehow, but I haven’t figured out how yet. I can’t get my wards back up. And, with what Starlight and others have laid out for the near future, it doesn’t look like there’s a breather.

Does anyone see **any** thing good on the horizon? Is each generational transition THIS bad? I was aware in the 60’s, and it didn’t seem this bad to me!

Too all… if you can and will, spare a thought for my lost cat, that he’ll find his way back to me (he was rescued as a small kitten), and also for Porter, my dog… who taught himself to be a real service dog to me, as well as the most ardent protector and friend anyone could want.

I agree but with this caveat. It depends on what kind of disaster occurs.

If it is a natural or climate change disaster….hypothetically the collapse of the Antarctic Larsen C ice shelf, a sudden sea level rise, or a mega-earthquake, or super-hurricane, or volcanic eruption, or something else difficult to blame on Liberals, Obama, feminists, etc….and Trump does little or nothing to alleviate the ensuing problems in its wake, (assuming they haven’t permanently fixed future elections) we then have a Herbert Hoover we can replace in 2020. It is pretty clear the American collective consciousness wants a new FDR. Remember the FDR with Obama’s face Time magazine cover of November 24, 2008?

But if it is another terrorist attack, another 9-11 or something ambiguous enough to plausibly blame any of the Far Right’s favorite sacrificial victims; then we have an American version of the 1933 Reichstag fire.

Shyra, I’m so sorry about all of these challenges hitting you at the same time and am glad you could unburden yourself and get it off your chest. I am sending you love, light, good thoughts, and prayers. It’s really a bitch to lose a beloved animal family member, and I do pray that your kitty turns up. My mother-in-law was able to find her cat, Blanco, after Hurricane Katrina, and I hope yours finds you and vice versa. One thing that I can relate to is the chaos of changing one’s environment and having a mess to deal with. The more you find a place for things and get rid of what you don’t want & need, I believe the better you will feel. Marie Kondo’s book, “The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up” works for me every time. It helps bring you peace and simplicity as does letting go, and letting God. PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION 20 JANUARY 2017 by Christine of The Financial Universe

As many of you will be aware, along with some of my colleagues, I made an incorrect call about the US election. Though I made plain that I couldn’t imagine Hillary Clinton being inaugurated on 20th of January, I did feel that the Democrats would have the edge. I did not anticipate a win for Donald Trump. We are, where we are.

I expressed open misgiving at the ISAR conference in Costa Mesa, California, that the inauguration might not go ahead as planned. I felt there was something weak, shady, sad and distressing about the event. My colleagues, far more familiar with the charts of the Clinton family took on my thoughts and we discussed the health of both Bill and Hillary Clinton and how this might jeopardise the event. I was reluctant to join in that conversation – not just because I’m not skilled as a medical astrologer – but also because it felt not quite right.

Yet there is something not quite right about the chart for the 2017 Inauguration. With that in mind I have now looked again at the charts for all inaugurations since the date was changed – back in the 1930s – from March to January 20th. There is only one chart that is at all similar to the one planned for 2017. That’s the chart for 20 January 1973 when President Nixon was inaugurated.

It is entirely possible that Mr Trump’s presidency will meet a similarly sticky end. That of course assumes that the event will go ahead as planned.

There is something so poignant about this year’s Christmas Day astrology. Within 25 hours transiting Venus at 20+ Aquarius aspected the 4 other planets that were located at 20+ degrees in their respective signs. She made a trine to Jupiter in Libra first, followed by a sextile to Uranus in Aries, then another sextile to Saturn in Sagittarius, and finally a semisextile to Chiron in Pisces.

I’ve looked at this pattern from several vantage points; the outer planet perspective, totally impersonal and, since Uranus was retrograde in motion, in review mode. Seen from a collective perspective, the Jupiter-Saturn sextile was neither in charge of the zeitgeist nor could it be seen as a victim of the times.

Caught in the middle, so-to-speak, Jupiter and Saturn represented a social and cultural phenomenon; the Individual and the Universal edicts were both demanding attention and reform. Symbolically, the inner and the outer, the highest and the lowest on the spectrum of wisdom and knowledge were exerting pressure to adapt to something new.

Uranus was the symbolic NEW and his opposition to Jupiter was seeking to find accord with this NEW through Jupiter’s breadth of understanding.

Uranus’ trine with Saturn, the standard bearer in astrology, both of whom have come to share rulership of the human altruism associated with Aquarius, symbol of the new age, met under peaceful circumstances, the trine.

Venus, one of the two most receptive personal planets, met all 3 – Uranus, Jupiter and Saturn, within slightly over 5 hours on Christmas Day; a trine with Jupiter and sextiles with Uranus and Saturn. Venus, in the sign of brotherly love, Aquarius, would, with the help of Chiron (with whom she shared a semi-sextile aspect), remind Humanity of its nobler purpose.

If this brief collaborative effort on the part of the gods and goddesses, on a day most widely recognized as a day of peace and love, is to be viewed as a kickstart for the NEW, how awesome is that?

Generally speaking, the outer planets penetrate the consciousness of humanity via the assistance of transmitters like Chiron and other centaurs or other third party symbols. This parlay of energy from the outer planets (in this case specifically Uranus) through to the collective planets Saturn and Jupiter, and on to the personal planets, in this case Venus, would normally take some time; weeks, months maybe years.

It would seem though that this Christmas a new technique is being tested. A sample of timelessness perhaps. A direct message from the most advanced powers to the most primitive of humankind in the blink of an eye. How humbling.

Is it an attempt to “humanize” the outer planet delivery system? An overture to bypass their fearful messages of the past? Not the great floods or the great pestilences of old, where Humanity quaked before the gods in fear for their lives, but a loving gesture of goodwill instead?

Well, if not, it is something extraordinary you must admit. There are no coincidences in astrology I was taught, and for this lineup of planets to take place on and around Christmas is a message of synchronicity I don’t recall ever seeing before.

As Venus on Christmas Day was conjunct the U.S. Progressed Mercury, the U.S. collective mentality would be most susceptible to this grand experiment of the Universe. In the days and weeks and months to come will we see any transformation in U.S. perceptions of how good or bad life really is? I for one would prefer this method of evolution over pestilence and will keep my fingers crossed.

How Does VOR Work?

VORs work on the principle of the phase difference in two radio signals.

Think of a tower with two lights on it. One light rotates at a constant rate around the tower but has a very narrow beam so that it can only be seen by the viewer just as the beam passes the viewer’s position.

Most citizens here in the USA feel as dismayed as you do, no matter whom they voted for. Sure, there are a few hard core Hillary supporters and hard core Trump supporters, but most here voted with zero enthusiasm for their candidate.

As you know, HRC won the popular vote by almost 3 million and lost the electoral college vote. But in my lifetime I’ve never seen an election in which the vast majority of voters were so intensely ambivalent about both major contenders.

The only good thing about HRC’s loss is that it preserves her reputation. As she had no “coattails” she would have faced an extremely hostile Congress, been impeached on false, exaggerated charges and possibly convicted by a hyper-partisan Senate. Not a good precedent for our first woman president. Also, both Clinton’s impeached?

Our main fear now is that Trump really is a tried and true fascist. His cabinet picks certainly indicate a beyond far right tilt. ALL of them so far are either Far Right, Crazy or both. Many of us are wondering how long it will be before Trump & Company pull a “Reichstag fire” incident and declare martial law.

The only caveat is that it is more difficult to declare and maintain martial law here in the USA than in many other countries. We’ve lived under the jurisdiction of our constitution for almost 228 years. The state constitutions provide an additional layer of legal protections. Together, the USA constitution plus the state documents do provide some insulation. Historically, when martial law was declared here locally or nationally, it was very focused and lasted for a very short period of time. Nevertheless, I personally believe there is a better than even chance we will live under the heel of the boot at least for a while, possibly for a few years.

There is also a great deal of fear we will have no more elections, or more likely sham elections as the Trumpists consolidate their power. I pray the child who will be president doesn’t get us or anyone else nuked. But this is on many minds as well. And I’ve not mentioned the loss of our many good social programs. These folks hope to undo over 100 years of social and cultural progress, going back to before the reforms of Theodore Roosevelt. God knows what havoc they’ll introduce internationally!

Frankly, we are all very, very scared. In my lifetime I’ve never seen so many depressed Americans at Christmas. Many have tried to keep up appearances, wearing fake smiles, particularly for the sake of their children, or because of their faith. But the “joy” of the season has been as hollow and empty as a dry well.

May your great and good country prosper materially, and spiritually. I pray you are not harmed by the madness of the minority which has so far succeeded in stealing this nation, and betraying the vision of our founders.

What is worrisome to me is that while the new administration’s leader is tweeting, there may be a major situation happening in the nation that requires leadership but the preoccupation with tweeting he ignores it

The increasing imbroglio over the UN resolution against the Israeli settlements and Netanyahu’s vicious attacks against Obama in response are showing us the first manifestations of the Saturn transit of late December and early January. Saturn is square to Obama’s Mars and opposite US Mars and conjunct Trump’s Moon.

Tr Mars is about to square US Uranus and trigger the October solar eclipse, so I wonder if there will be some kind of attack that agitates the current issue or if there will be some other event.

And finally, Trump. I keep reading all these articles about how he should divest from the Trump corporation. How he should sell the whole thing to avoid corruption. It is my opinion that he is completely identified with the Trump brand and could never disconnect himself from it. Moreover, he doesn’t care about the appearance of corruption. He figures he can bully and bluster his way past it. There is no way he will divest. He is a megalomaniac who will soon have no limitations put on him at all. He won’t give any of it up.

When I first saw the 2017 eclipse’s path, I felt like it’s meaning was so clear. It cuts the country in two, from somewhere near Portland, Oregon to Charleston, SC.

Ending in Charleston? The site of the start of a devastating war where one side of the US fought against the other? Where people must have doubted whether the country would ever be united again?

Actually, while Charleston’s in the prime viewing area, the center of the eclipse’s path is about 40 miles north of there, in a little town called McClellanville, which is where Hurricane Hugo, a devastating Category 3 storm, came ashore in 1989. Again, a bad omen.

Thanks for your observations regarding the Israeli settlements in the West Bank area Nancy. This indeed is the main story of the present astrology, specifically the Uranus-Jupiter opposition and related aspects. I just watched Sec’y Kerry’s speech with admiration and rapt attention, and hope others here were able to see and hear it too.

From the U.S. natal chart perspective, the transit of Jupiter conjunct the U.S. Juno was made clear in Kerry’s repeated reference to the Palestinian right to “equal recognition”.

Opposite transiting Jupiter (+ U.S. Juno) is transiting Uranus conjunct the U.S. natal Chiron. The healing proclivities inherent in the symbolism of Chiron were apparent in Kerry’s words as he explained the history of the 2 state solution and where the U.S. has stood throughout the process to create it.

When the Secretary spoke of Israel’s “security requirements” I thought of Saturn and how transiting Saturn is now trine transiting Uranus.

It is fascinating to me that transiting Juno (unrecognized equality) is conjunct (within a degree from) Kerry’s natal Sun at 18 Sagittarius 39. The fact that Kerry’s Sun is opposite his natal Moon in Gemini adds impact to his role in this defense of the U.S. position and the desire for a 2 state resolution as a path to peace in the middle east.

Further astrological weight re: today’s speech comes from the Full Moon 2 weeks ago which was one degree from Kerry’s natal Saturn at 23+ Gemini. That Full Moon (opposite Sun in Sagittarius) was T-squared by transiting Chiron at 20+ Pisces.

The full moon astrology activated not only Kerry’s Saturn but the U.S. natal Neptune square U.S. natal Mars. I was so impressed with John Kerry’s stamina and grasp of detailed historical facts that I could not help but think of how great a President he would have been. I feel sure his efforts today will become part of the U.S. story as it pertains to world history.

Trump may gain media attention with his simple-minded tweets but a side by side comparison with John Kerry’s compassionate and intelligent words to the world today will put Trump into the garbage heap of historical significance in world affairs.

A major problem with the U.N. resolution is , as far as I can understand, they include the Western Wall as occupied territory and the Western Wall is a very important prayer site to all world Jews, both residents and visitors, so that would need to be clarified. Also, I may be wrong, but my perception is that there is a long game being played where Hamas, backed by Iran, and Hezzbolah in the North, and Syria in the West are planning to coordinate militarily to take over Israel. People have been sacrificed as martyrs with this end in mind. Hamas (the son of the founder left and wrote about their brutality) does not recognize Israel as a Jewish state, although much more land was given to Arabs after the partition than was given to Israel (and Israelis left their homes and properties, too). Hamas and others in Palestine teach their children to hate Israelis and Jews through the education and TV shows. My question is why this is never included in the equation?

Donald Trump has a well-documented tendency to file lawsuits when someone hurts his feelings. In 2013, the guilty party was Bill Maher, the late-night HBO talk show host known for his liberal leanings and biting commentary.

After Trump had insisted in 2012 that President Barack Obama release his college transcripts and passport records, Maher pushed back on the mogul’s request with a demand of his own: that Trump show proof that he is not “the spawn of his mother having sex with an orangutan.” Maher, interviewed on Jay Leno’s The Tonight Show, cited the similarity in color between Trump’s coif and an orange orangutan’s fur, as split-screen images of Trump next to the animal were displayed. If Trump complied with the request and proved him wrong, Maher promised he would give Trump $5 million for the charity of his choice. The charities Maher suggested? “Hair Club for Men” or the “Institute for Incorrigible Douchebaggery.”

Trump took the jab personally. He filed a $5 million lawsuit against Maher for breach of contract, alleging that when he provided his birth certificate to Maher proving he is not, in fact, the son of an orangutan, Maher never came up with the $5 million. Alas, the lawsuit didn’t get very far. Trump wound up dropping it, but the threat to Maher remained.

Michael Cohen, an attorney for Trump, insisted that although the suit had been withdrawn temporarily, it could resurface in the future. “The lawsuit was temporarily withdrawn to be amended and refiled at a later date,” Cohen said.

It is hard to imagine what good will come for the vulnerable among us during a Trump presidency, the fruits of a reactionary, xenophobic, hateful campaign. The health of the planet will suffer as climate change goes unaddressed. There is a long list of nightmares that are now poised to come true. Among them: Life might soon become very ugly for journalists.

As a voice for the weak and powerless, a free press is important especially in neo-authoritarian conditions, and it should be obvious by now that Trump wants to curb its efficacy. As a candidate, he consistently maligned the mainstream media as corrupt and dishonest. He portrayed the press as a group of ethically compromised elitists colluding to thwart his candidacy and stifle the voices of his supporters. He represents a group of people who see a strong independent press not as a necessary check on accumulated power in America but as a bothersome impediment to the accumulation of that power. And he will almost certainly use the office of the presidency to bring the press to heel.

We are a global community. What happens in the US appears to have ramifications in other areas of the world.

Case in point. It’s interesting to note that the Indian government instituted the controversial step of demonetization of its 500 & 1,000 rupee notes (in an effort to curb corruption). It happened to coincide the same day as the US presidential elections (November 8th). Whether deliberate or not, the timing may have served as a positive distraction.

Ja, I think it’s unlikely that President Obama will make a recess appointment of Merrick Garland. Garland would give up his life appt. on the appellate court for a year’s term on the Supreme Court. Barack might, however, try to use recess appointments to fill the 59 judicial vacancies that have been languishing. There is a current judicial emergency due to the vacancies, and even if the Republicans were to contest every one of those appointments, many cases would be decided in the interim. Some of the judges even might get to remain in their seats; Republicans just refused to have hearings on them out of spite, not actual opposition to the jurists themselves.

With Donald Trump ascending to the presidency in 2017, which will also make him the commander-in-chief of the United States Armed Forces, will the chances of the United States getting involved in another war increase? Will President Trump be more likely to use nuclear weapons than his predecessors? Like many other questions surrounding the president-elect and his future administration, this is difficult to answer. Here are some preliminary thoughts.

The President’s War Powers

The U.S. president’s powers to wage war are quite extensive. Most importantly, he can take military actions without specific congressional authorization, although the so-called War Powers Resolution from 1973 mandates that the president has to withdraw combat troops from foreign territory within 60 to 90 days unless Congress authorizes their continuous deployment. However, no president — including Barack Obama back in 2011, when he did not seek congressional authorization 60 days into the Libyan intervention — has accepted the constitutionality of the 60-90 day limit.

According to executive branch interpretation, most conflicts that the United States has been involved in did not pass the threshold definition of war for constitutional purposes. Indeed, the United States has not declared war since 1942 and ever since U.S. President Harry Truman’s decision to dispatch U.S. troops into Korea in 1950, the president has made the initial decision to commence military hostilities abroad. In the late 20th/early 21st century, executive branch power was generously interpreted as giving the president the ability to wage war without congressional authorization even when the United States is not facing an actual or imminent threat to its national security.

Like it or not, President Donald Trump will have a large say over the question of war and peace in the next four years.

In nearly seven years since Obamacare passed, dozens of comprehensive health-care alternatives have been introduced, but none has gotten off the ground. The most developed plan so far is legislation by House Budget Chairman Tom Price of Georgia, Trump’s nominee to run the Department of Health and Human Services, which he introduced in every Congress since 2009. It had 84 cosponsors in the House.

But that bill — centered on age-based refundable tax credits to buy insurance — didn’t receive a hearing in committee, nor was it included in Price’s budget that was adopted by the House last year.

If Republicans stick together, repeal could happen quickly. The Senate plans to move first on a nonbinding budget resolution instructing committees to draft repeal legislation, with the House approving it next. The resulting proposals would be sent for final votes under a process known as reconciliation, which is used to bypass the 60-vote threshold in the Senate.

Key players tasked with executing the plan will be Senate Finance Chairman Orrin Hatch of Utah and Health Chairman Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, and on the House side, Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady of Texas and incoming Energy and Commerce Chairman Greg Walden of Oregon.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, along with House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and New York Sen. Charles Schumer, sent a letter to congressional colleagues across the United States this week demanding they host major rallies ahead of Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20.

The three Democratic leaders called for a “day of action” on Jan. 15, in which thousands of grassroots activists will urge President-elect Donald Trump to protect health care coverage for millions of Americans who benefit from government-funded programs like Medicare and Medicaid.

“Beginning in January, it is likely that Republican leaders in Congress will follow through on their threats to ram through a budget bill that will severely undermine the health care needs of the American people,” the letter sent Wednesday read. Their predictions for what a budget bill spearheaded by the GOP will feature include “slashing Medicaid and threatening the nursing home care of over four million vulnerable seniors; increasing prescriptions drug prices more than $1,000 a year for over five million seniors and persons with disabilities; and passing a $4,800 tax hike on millions of average Americans, while providing hundreds of billions in tax breaks to the wealthiest people across the country.”

Strangely, I’m not looking at the prospect of a Trump presidency with despair now as was my first initial response (an understandable reaction). The instinct is to naturally recoil in horror and be in denial. But I think there is another side to the story that is not being countenanced. We are now on the fast track towards real change. Finally! Things will not be the same. We will have no choice but to go within. It will be a challenge, but well worth the struggle. We are now being given permission to leave the old establishment behind us and embark on a new path. The destruction of the old and the beginning of the new. That’s actually quite exciting. Much to look forward to. I say that without cynicism.

I will share this with you all, FWIW. I had a dream back during the Bush II years that after the end of the Cold War, we were somehow “not yet done” with the threat of nukes and nuclear war. Some time would pass, and there would indeed be one last “final push” for all out nuclear war by some extreme, nihilistic element in our government absurdly confident in our own success, survival and triumph. BUT this push and the resulting brinksmanship with the rest of the world would represent the last straw for most people the world over who have no desire to stand idle and allow life on Earth to be completely destroyed in the name of madness and abject stupidity.

I don’t recall how exactly it all ended up, and I did not foresee DT or anyone like him as President, but the nihilists were blocked and overthrown, and people in the US turned away for good from a desire for war and the whole Military-Industrial complex, having been jolted at the brink of MADness.

I had a thought that maybe this is the real test of our Pluto Return here in the US, coming face to face with the full implications of our power and realizing, finally truly realizing, that for all we are capable of doing to destroy our enemies real or imagined, we will invariably see the same or similar measures of destruction visited upon us. One way or another, we will never be the same as a country after 2022. I believe our Jerry has hit upon the essence of our present state, we of the U.S. and we of the world. He says in his comment of 12/30 at 9:06 PM, “We are now on the fast track towards real change” and we have been “given permission to leave the old establishment behind us and embark on a new path”. Often when 2 planets make a conjunction there is little evidence detected of any change. I believe that is because transiting conjunctions are like being a little pregnant. Nobody knows but the mom-to-be. The conjunctions must separate and form new aspects to one another in order to get a sense of their likely manifestation.

In the years of 2009 and 2010 two transiting planets were conjunct and they were joined by a third planet. Together they made a total of 3 exact conjunctions to one another (technically it was 5 conjunctions since one of the planets went retrograde then forward adding 2 more).

Normally, this kind of astro activity would garner much discussion but there was another transiting 3-planet pattern going on at the time that would capture the attention of most astrologers. It was transiting Saturn’s repeated oppositions to transiting Uranus and his squares with transiting Pluto that would be the focus of the majority of astrology buzz.

And that was as it should be, because, one of the 3 planets conjoined (off and on) in 2009 and 10 was Neptune and Neptune does not normally relish the spotlight. Were these 6 planets working in concert? It is elementary my dears, of course they were.

Here is why that is so. Transiting Neptune, Jupiter and Chiron in 2009 and 2010 were also conjunct the U.S. natal Moon and she is the symbol of the U.S. People who – to some degree – were to become besotted with a sham of a man who promised them a way out of the wilderness.

Neptune has that effect. Neptune with Jupiter increases that effect by 10 fold. Neptune with Jupiter and Chiron adds the element of pain that strives to increase consciousness, as well as the element of healing such a pain.

These 3, Neptune, Jupiter and Chiron were beginning their respective cycles atop the symbol of the U.S. citizenry, while the world watched, horrified at the destruction and mayhem associated with the transiting T-squared Saturn, Pluto and Uranus. The U.S. citizenry was being prepared for a search for escape from the “old establishment” and thereby find a “new path”.

We have analyzed to death the reasons why Donald Trump became the new leader of the free world however, Neptune doesn’t leave such obvious clues, but rather prefers a blind search for truth and salvation. Now, Jupiter and Chiron, having moved forward from their three-planet conjunction with the U.S Moon, are much more down to earth.

Not until trans. Jupiter moved into the sign of Gemini in 2012 did the “little bit pregnant” conjunctions of 2009-10 to U.S. Moon begin to show. Transiting Jupiter in Gemini would first square transiting Neptune in Pisces then square transiting Chiron in Pisces. The U.S. citizenry (impregnated by trans. Neptune, Jupiter and Chiron) would be showing their dissatisfaction with the “old establishment” and searching for a “new path”.

Meanwhile, trans. Jupiter would also interact with the other transiting threesome, Uranus, Pluto and Saturn, in ways that would produce greater stimulation, real-world stimulation. We, as a whole, might not see it clearly, but we felt it. U.S. Moon, like all Moons, heightens feelings. The U.S. 2010 midterm elections proved that.

Now it was 2012 and with Jupiter in Gemini, would the U.S. citizenry abandon Obama on election day? Transiting Mercury was stationing retrograde and just shy of a square with transiting Chiron (who had participated in getting the U.S. Moon pregnant in 2009-10) on election day. Transiting Mercury had just made a conjunction to Obama’s natal Moon a few days earlier; Obama would not be abandoned by the U.S. citizenry.

However, by July, 2015, transiting Jupiter in Leo was opposite the U.S. Moon in Aquarius, at the same time he, Jupiter, was squaring transiting Saturn in Scorpio. This was the junction; a connecting of the two triple-transiting planet patterns of 2009-10 with the U.S. Moon in a most challenging pattern, the T-square.

Jupiter had reached his half-way point with the cycle he had started when he conjoined the U.S. Moon. Two months later, from Virgo, he would oppose transiting Neptune in Pisces and 2 months after that he would oppose transiting Chiron.

This is where the rubber meets the road; the midway point of any cycle, the opposition. Transiting Jupiter had run the gauntlet of opposing U.S. Moon, then transiting Neptune and then transiting Chiron, all the members of the many cycles that had begun (with little fanfare) in 2009-10. All would be revealed (in a pregnant full-moon kind of way) at this time near the end of 2015.

And yet, we were surprised, even shocked. Who was this man, so many thought of as a buffoon, a carni-man selling snake oil to cure all our ills, who had buffaloed so many U.S. people? Were they mad? Hell yes, they were mad.

It has been a process then; the world, and specifically the U.S. citizenry has been pummeled and churned into an alchemy blend of feelings and thought just ripe for new awareness. As transiting Uranus stationed direct on the U.S. Chiron while opposing transiting Jupiter in Libra conjunct the U.S Juno, we begin to understand the pain of inequality.

As transiting Neptune has squared the U.S Uranus and conjoined the U.S. Ceres and Nessus, our blinders have been removed and we (as a whole)now witness the shock of delayed recognition of that suffering. As transiting Pluto moves away from his T-square to the U.S. natal Sun-Saturn square, his mission to break the back of the very foundation that has allowed this suffering is made plain to the world.

It is a new day and now we rebuild what was flawed from the beginning. A pregnant U.S. Moon is providing us opportunities that we were blind to before this election. A new leader is awaiting to ascend to power; the U.S. Moon in Aquarius sits very near his 7th house cusp, acting as his partner (7th house) or his open enemy (7th house). Much, if not all, depends on how the Universe plans to utilize the carni-man.

In a few days transiting Pluto reaches an exact quincunx with carni-man’s natal Uranus at 17+ Gemini. It is already producing, in him, a pressure to “adjust”, what always happens in a quincunx. This past month transiting Saturn has opposed his natal Uranus, eliciting confrontation, what often happens in an opposition.

This month transiting Jupiter also trined carni-man’s Uranus (as did transiting Mars) producing bellicose and belligerent behavior as only the unconscious and easily manipulated people of the world do.

I for one believe there is a method to the apparent madness we are witnessing. We can fear the future, easy enough under these circumstances, or we can marvel at the clever and much-more-wise-than-we Universe, and wait for our cue to start down the new path opening before us.

The times ahead in 2017 may seem dark, but please remember this: Big business & multi-national corporations will never again in our lifetimes have as much power and influence as they do at this time, due to Pluto’s transit of Capricorn. Trump likely represent the pinnacle of this particular type of influence and power within our world and our lives, as it now makes a massive power grab to control and dismantle our democratic institutions and traditions here in the US and elsewhere. This will continue to build through the approaching Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn.

Once Saturn ingresses into Aquarius late in 2020, however, we should begin to see a noticeable shift away from conservative & corporate/resource-driven politics, towards an emphasis on social organizing, humanitarianism and rationalism. But lately, I’ve been reading a lot of predictions about that time and I now know she was right. The thing is, no one, not even she (at least I don’t think so but the fault could be mine as she was an excellent astrologer), explained it as a Pluto in Aquarius influence and related it back to the French Revolution. The clouds are parting and I have to say you and Marjorie Orr have handed out hope this very New Year’s eve.

M., I remember Sally… I do wonder what she would have to say now about DT as President, of all people? Her astrological insights are sorely missed in these times.

One thing I did recall her mentioning a few times on Astroworld–and perhaps you do as well–that there would come a time when the leaders of the US (presumably of a far more enlightened mindset than that of the incoming admin) would be assembled behind closed doors for several days in discussion about what to do about governing the country in a time of crisis. She said they would come out of it and present to the people the U.S. Constitution, same as the one we have now.

My takeaway from this was that only our interpretation of the Constitution need to have shifted, and that will indeed be the case by such a time. From the “living document” perspective, this certainly makes sense. Writing a brand new constitution may be unnecessary when we have the amendment process which could indeed allow for sweeping and constructive change.

The United States actually has a number of Pluto Returns coming up beyond our Dec. of Independence/founding chart in 2022, if you count the Constitution ratification itself, along with the initial meetings of Congress, and Washington’s administration–the establishment of the Office of the President, as well as the Supreme Court.

While the Dec. of Independence–and the US as a nation has Pluto in Capricorn, many other components of our government actually have Pluto in Aquarius, including the Constitution, suggesting a contrast in themes that will emerge as the United States proceeds through a massive period of transition and change during the 2020s and 2030s.

Pluto in Capricorn = Power to private for-profit organizations (e.g. Corporations), centralized governments (e.g. national, states), the elites/1% (e.g. CEOs, bankster executives, global jet-set, investors, etc), conservative/traditionalist ideals and principles, authoritarianism, the security/police state, boundaries/walls/borders.

Pluto in Aquarius = Power to shared/public organizations (e.g. Co-Ops), political factions/groups/parties, decentralized governments (e.g. cities/metro-regional, independent republics), the masses/common people, social justice/liberty, humanism, radicals (far-left and far-right), the new and revolutionary, all that is forward-looking and futuristic, scientific breakthroughs, technological advances, breaking down walls, old ideas, and traditions to create new ones.

It’s impossible right now to say how it will all play out, particularly with Uranian/Aquarian themes and energies involved–the Uranus-Pluto trine from 2025 to about 2032 should be a particularly “high energy” time in multiple respects, with Uranus in Gemini. But if I were to hazard a general guess, we will probably at the very least see a shift away from obsessive national politics and centralized governance based around Washington D.C. But even state capitals may not necessarily emerge to replace DC in a relative spotlight, some of which have also benefitted from Pluto in Cap’s centralization tendencies in their respective states.

With Pluto in Aquarius, we will probably see greater emphasis on regional alliances based upon shared economic ties, resources, and culture that transcends current state and in some cases national boundaries (e.g. the South, “Cascadia”, Rust Belt/Great Lakes, New England, etc.), maybe even supplanting the former in some way or another, particularly if it sees a dramatic weakening and loss of legitimacy on some level, such as due to an economic crash, DT presidency, Pluto Return, or all of the above.

It’s also possible we will see some kind of Constitutional amendment that establishes a number of large cities and their metro areas as special federal districts, similar to the District of Columbia, with accompanying federal recognition and ungerrymandered representation in Congress. This in particular might go a long way towards addressing the current political disparity favoring sparsely populated rural areas over high-density cities.

Apologies on the length of my last post. I know this has been a general issue here in the past. Chalk it up to a bit of inspiration I received on the threshold of 2017. But I will resolve to space them out better from now on.

Well trumps ego seems huger than ever, I have yet to see signs of any of the predicted difficulties he would be facing yet. He seems to be enjoying himself immensely , and instead of press conferences he is obviously going to continue to use Twitter as his tool. And probably YouTube.

In his astrological presentations, GianPaulo is no doubt an amusing, if not controversial character of sorts. He is not shy about sharing his enthusiasm for astrology with others in detailed sometimes grandiose style. Unfortunately for GianPaulo, one gets the feeling he is also motivated by all the attention, which consequently and sadly (to me at least) diminishes his credibility as a professional. It is a shame really, because he really is a good astrologer.

He is also a staunch Donald Trump supporter who thoroughly enjoys brandishing Trump style caps and sweatshirts with the slogan “Make Astrology Great Again”. Apparently he has been known to aggressively slander other youtube astrologers, at times threatening them with lawsuits if anything is said in negative protest (see related video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GniHMUOZdTs ). Once again, a very colorful figure indeed.

BuckeyeShadow, how lovely that you can speak of Sally. I think she would’ve been horrified by Trump but not surprised. She would’ve seen him as the necessary corrective pain. She always said that once we reached 2020, a tremendous shift would come to this country and the ills would be redressed. I think she’d be quite in agreement with your theory.

“President Obama’s belated move against Russian interference in the USA election by expelling diplomats is deemed to have been undercut by Putin’s oily and scathing non-retaliation in anticipation of Trump’s coming. In reality it has thrown a spanner into the heart of the Republican Party, traditionally very anti-Russian, which it’ll be more than interesting to watch play out.

Everyone is playing games. There is another astrological marker; transiting Sedna (she who accepted a proposal of marriage from a con-man/bird) has been conjunct Trump’s MC (reputation) for a couple of years now.

As a matter of fact, haven’t we all been conned? GianPaulo’s astrological assessments seem to be well presented and well thought out. I think he has a genuine talent. But you may have to take that into context. He fancies himself as a modern day Nostradamus with heavily accented Donald Trump leanings and a hot headed temper to boot (he tends to delete comments and/or block other posters on his facebook page when he finds himself at odds or in disagreement). There’s definitely an agenda there. I’m not dismissing what he has to say. Some of his ideas are quite intelligent. But as you say, he is something of an oddball.

At any rate I thought I’d post an email I received from Joni Patry that might better explain her point of view on Trump – as a collective projection of sorts. Sorry for the length:

Spiritual Insights January 2017

Everyone has an opinion for the future based on their political views. The world is in a curious place. The U.S. is divided by extremes on both sides. I wonder why people are so overly emotional concerning politics. The one thing that I believe should unite us is that we all want the same thing, a better world and humanity. I hope we can all agree on this. The separation comes from the ways we believe this can come about. A core reason is people have the need to be right. I always remind myself of the powerful saying in The Course of Miracles, “Would you rather be right or would you rather be happy?” Being right validates the sense of who we are. A person’s core essence is based on their beliefs which are formed through our life’s experiences beginning in childhood. This formulates our perception of the world.

Astrologically speaking the transit of Saturn into Sagittarius concerns me since it is the sign of righteousness and fundamentalism. The world is leaning more in that direction than ever before. Furthermore, by the end of 2019 Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter and Ketu will all be in Sagittarius with Rahu in Gemini in the nakshatra Ardra. This indicates extremist behavior concerning fundamentalism. During the time of September 11, 2001 Mars and Ketu were in Sagittarius (Mula) and Rahu and Jupiter were in Gemini (Ardra) and Saturn and Pluto were in aspect (opposition). So the signs of extreme fundamentalism will be activated even more extremely than before.

Observing the reactions of people through the response of this U.S. Presidential election is a fascinating study. Any event outside of ourselves gives us the opportunity to truly see ourselves. The way to understand the core of our being based on our past comes through the initial emotional reaction we experience from the stimuli in our environment. The more emotionally charged, the better the opportunity to understand where the core of the reaction is coming from.

People believe their way of thinking is right and justified. But if there is a powerful emotion triggered from an event then it has a negative effect on the physical body. Consequently, unbeknown to them it affects all other areas of their lives.

In trying to understand the reaction I received concerning my predictions for Donald Trump I was dismayed by the extreme emotional responses. The reactions are over the top emotionally charged. On one occasion I pried a little to understand this phenomenon. I came away with a better understanding of the core issue of what this all about.

When I told a friend I thought based on the astrology that Donald Trump will be a great president. This struck a deep nerve in her. I tried to explain based on his natal Jupiter (stationary) that he just entered the Jupiter dasha and this planet along with three other planets connect to the U.S. chart. This angered her considerably. She reacted with a nasty fire in her eyes. She was obviously emotionally charged and kept repeatedly using the word “hate”. I told her the more she kept using the word “hate” the more she would deplete and lower her energy level. Over and over she said “I hate him.” The issues of money, selfishness, insurance, womanizing and even the comparison of Nazi Germany poured out of her mouth. Then the finger came back at me for being a bad immoral person for condoning this person in any way. I kept reminding her that this was based on astrology but she never heard me on this account (like many on my Youtube channel). People hear only what they want to hear! But then she began attacking my character. As I stepped away from this conflict I thought I should not have said anything because of course I didn’t feel well after this unreasonable confrontation especially with a friend I have had for 30 years.

But then as I stood back to analyze this uncomfortable confrontation it gave me the insight to try to understand what was at the bottom of this to better help understand why people react in such a way. I was later grateful because I now understand what is at the base of reactions from those that overreact on these issues.

In the process of our conversation I asked her why she was so angry (this will definitely strike a chord for those that do not want to see). She, of course, said she was not angry. I told her she was angry and this has to be based on some deep seated issues relative to what this man represents to her, and that it brings up her past resentments. The one thing I got out of her is that he is a “selfish man” and she hates selfish people. I said then this must relate to the selfish men in your life; her two ex-husbands and her father. This was probably probing too deep but I thought knowing her so long and all the therapy she has been in that this could help. I told her I was trying to help her, but she exclaimed “I am perfectly fine”.

Donald Trump represents an egotistical, immoral, selfish, materialistic, womanizer to many people. The fact that he will be inaugurated as the president of U.S. this month represents to many the loss of our morals and the demise of goodness in our world. He doesn’t pay his taxes while the average worker in the U.S. pays for his cheating. The people he is surrounding himself with in his cabinet are evil and full of prejudice. But the accusation of Trump being another Hitler with a Hitler’s agenda is what gave me the courage to fight back saying we have a democracy and if he begins a dictatorship like Hitler’s he will surely be impeached.

But for those of you that get into any political arguments, you will come to realize there is no winning this argument because it is based on emotional issues formed in childhood, not the actual political opinion.

As I reflected on our conversation I realized that each time I was with my friend over the past years she was complaining of issues with her past husbands and family that she was very angry about. She has asked me many times, how is it that she keeps choosing the same type of man with the same issues. My response is that it always points back to her dad. That this is about being attracted to what we are most familiar with for good or bad.

Coming from a place of anger and never owning up to it people continue to bring on issues that surface their anger. They attract angry people and then they blame others for their own problems. With my friend people in her life are selfish and she feels she has been overly unselfish and so she is justified in her belief that she is good and they are bad. Her righteousness concerning selfishness is based on that she always gives so much. Her righteousness repels and she cannot or refuses to see that her attitude about these men being so selfish is what makes them more selfish. Who wants to give to someone always pointing out their wrong doings and this is never done through words but is done by actions. Then she becomes more and more justified, and is the victim. Those who have deep relationship issues should take a step back to see what they are doing to contribute to these problems. It is never one sided. There are always two sides to a situation.

Concerning world affairs Americans all want the same thing and that is for the U.S. to be a place of prosperity and to fix all the problems and issues rampant in the world currently. Because there are so many problems brewing Donald Trump represents change and most everyone wants change. This is why so many people voted for him and they did so secretly. Despite all the negative issues that surround Donald Trump people know and don’t care because he represents something entirely different and people believe he has the courage to make a difference.

Remember that any issue outside of ourselves gives us an opportunity to better see ourselves, and understanding how we contributed to the situation gives us the ability to take responsibility to change our lives. If you are not happy take a look inside and you will find the answer based on your emotional responses to outside stimulus.

Strong feelings of righteousness and judgment always relates to deep core issues and resentments formed in the past. Resentments are long standing anger that begins to fester and cause emotional issues and result in problems. These problems result in failed relationships and problems throughout life that are continually blamed on others never taking responsibility for the reason rooted at the heart of the matter.

If we can choose to see the truth and recognize that deep seated righteousness and resentments are only hurting ourselves then maybe this realization will begin to change our lives and consequently have an effect on our world by becoming more conscious.

The outside world is always a reflection of our inner beliefs and character. I believe Donald Trump is the creation and reflection of our society. We now have a self-centered society that speaks out with rebellion. People are so very disrespectful and now they have created a reflection of themselves, Donald Trump, and the more this image triggers their own image that they refuse to see the more anger it invokes. One of my favorite quotes comes from Dick Cavett,
“It takes a great person to hear what they don’t want to hear.”

My wish and hope for our world is that we can become more conscious and aware. Be aware of your anger and resentments and use this awareness to understand the world and yourself. Through this awakening you will evolve beyond the limitations of this world.

Jerry, I found it. It’s the one called President Trump and the future of America, go to the middle, at minute about 18 she says that she is going to say something that you may not like but that she predicts that trump will be a great president, that it’s all in the stars and he was destined to be president and then goes on an on.

What I don’t get is then why didn’t she definitively say that he was going to be president since now she apparently sees it so clearly, I think she even calls him a king at one point, can’t remember now though. She says that we should look into our hearts and accept him because he is doing something so important in uncovering deception and scandals, honestly just writing this is making my blood pressure rise lol. I also totally do believe as I think jerry and some others here do that this is all part of a divine plan and trump is necessary.

However equating not liking trump to men in ones past is ridiculous, at least for me, I know that it’s the opposite, because I have generally been surrounded by good men, father, brother, husband, that the contrast with Trump repels me and that my Piscean mind feels it unfair and unjust that a man like him, so crass and uncaring at every level could get something he doesn’t deserve, I guess in the stars he does deserve it but I do see him as a reflection of our shadows for sure, going to reread what you sent…

Ok, a few more thoughts on Patry’s email, thanks for posting Paris. I think she really started off well but by the end she went awry. Absolutely it’s all about emotions, the reason trump won is this appeal to emotions. Agreed.

Also I completely agree with her prediction on fundamentalism. Without a doubt this is the major issue we will be dealing with for the next few years or more , radical Islam is a huge problem.

I also agree people voted for Trump because he represented change, he was the change candidate like obama was and this appeals to people’s emotions. People sometimes learn the hard way though and should be careful what they wish for, people perhaps take for granted this great democracy and what it took to get here and blowing up the system has repercussions, many of which hurt the very people that voted for the change.

Many people talk about trump winning because of the economy not working for so many but the truth is that more poor people,voted for Hillary. Not only do I think that there is a collective amnesia about the mess obama inherited and how far we have come, but making America great again was absolutely for many making America white again and an assault on a black presidency. Many of the voters’ problems who voted for trump are a result of technology and globalization, its all well and good to think that trump is a savior who will bring back their jobs, but if much of what trump proposes were to happen, these very same people would find that the cost of much of what they shop for would go up drastically. Anyway I digress …

Then she goes into her whole story with her friend and having all these selfish men in her life has caused emotional triggers to someone like Trumo. While emotional triggers are a real thing there is a reason trump triggers so many people, and in his case it’s because for so many people they honestly can see what a con he is, what a bragging bully who is the height of egotistical shallowness, and ok, while I get that we all have these shadow elements in us and collectively have created the orange monster, I think that the decency and goodness of those people who just don’t get the trump phenomena are just more appalled that this is what it has come to, that this is our leader and we are in abject dismay rather than we are triggered by Trump because of childhood.

I just don’t see her conclusion as logical, the more trump triggers us, the more we have to look at how we created him she is saying. But what about his adoring supporters who in my mind really are the ones (deplorables) who created him, what about the fact that he doesn’t trigger them? They are not to blame for trump according to her argument, it all seems to break down at the end in my mind.

Hi Diana – perhaps part of the USA transiting Pluto opposite Sun and the USA chart’s Sun/Saturn issues, this Cancer country is dealing with ‘daddy’ or men/authority in general. So maybe we are, in sense, be weened of the need for an authority and a false sense of security that comes from outside of us. Heck, even some elements of Christianity and other more conservative and orthodox religions (which we will experience under the current Saturn transit through Sag) sees God as an authority figure outside of us, who punishes, protects, as well as rewards obedience. So this just seems like the stars are providing the opportunity to get into the depths of the daddy issues.

Some positive reactions to the failures of authorities in the eyes of the public seems to be an increased desire to take back our own authority and involvement in the creation of our reality/world/country. Another positive response has been a new interest in developing the feminine as a counterbalance or solution. Gaia, nature, the earth, responsible stewardship and sustainability, and diversity rather than central authority. Many of the younger men I’ve met seem to have integrated the feminine more fully or a desire for a more holistic and inclusive reality.

Interesting info on the East India company’s founding from Sally. With her coming up so much in this conversation, she must be guiding us from afar. I will have to take a look at its natal chart and share my thoughts.

Between the recent and upcoming Pluto in Cap oppositions to the US natal planets in Cancer (Jupiter, Sun, Mercury), and the upcoming Pluto return in 2022, it seems very much as if we are dealing with similar issues of corporate rule and acquisition/use of resources and finance run amok as early Americans were in the mid-to-late 1700s with the British East India Company.

It does seem in no small way ironic that the founders set the Declaration of Independence in motion–crystallizing the new United States’ identity–while Pluto was still in Capricorn, the sign of corporations and big business, of all of the places it could be.

A few years later and we would have had a country with Pluto in Aquarius, wouldn’t that have been interesting? A country with power truly in the hands of the people and public organizations, rather than private corporations and wealthy elites controlling massive material resources and finance, as Pluto in Cap represents. I’ve even wondered how we might have fared had the US been incorporated several decades earlier, when Pluto was in Virgo. Power to guilds & eventual workers unions, or perhaps more perversely, the military?

But of course no one even knew about Pluto’s existence in the 18th century, much less Neptune’s–Uranus was still on the verge of discovery and emergence within the collective consciousness–and the revolutionary spirit of the time was already out of the bottle. But as I said previously, the founders may have been able to subconsciously compensate for the Pluto in Capricorn energies during Pluto’s transit of Aquarius. The Constitution itself was signed September 17, 1787 with Pluto at 14 Aquarius. Its effective date, March 4, 1789 has Pluto at 18 Aquarius. Incidentally, Pluto will return to 14 Aquarius in 2032, and 2034, so that general period of time in the early 2030s will be very important for the US Constitution, whatever the condition of the US itself at the time.

I meant to add that Pluto will be at 18 Aquarius in 2034. Also, Washington took office as POTUS on April 30, 1789, which some use as the birth of the Office of the Presidency. Pluto is at 19 Aquarius in that chart, and will return to this degree in 2035, so significant changes are likely coming for the US Presidency as well, although I suspect we will see something significant happen even before that, during or in the immediate wake of DT.

Modern US presidencies all begin with the Sun at 0-1 Aquarius, and Pluto will be conjunct the Sun of the presumptive administration to come in January 2025–and transiting the natal Sun of the one already in place beginning in 2023. Something quite dramatic will be in effect during the 2023-2025 period, to say the least. But with Pluto in Aquarius then, and not in Capricorn, whatever takes place it is going to come from the people and the general public, not corporations or elites. Woe to the latter if they think they can stop it or otherwise get in the way.

Paris, completely agree, this is all part of the patriarchy , definite daddy issues, lots of his voters are looking for exactly that, a hero masculine figure to save them. Very interesting video by Hogue on 2017. One point he talks about regarding Trump’s chart is that he is naturally a medium and channels the energies around him which is powerful, but this becomes dangerous because he’s basically unconscious. He’s sleep walking as regards consciousness and has no filter. I sense authenticity there. No matter. Really speaking it’s not about her. It’s about what she’s saying. We generally think of social change as taking the form of slow incremental stages. In the past several hundred years or so there have been enormous strides in technological growth. Psychologically however, we have remained somewhat stunted. Some little modest improvements here and there, but nothing substantial. We are unable to get past our prejudices, our lusts, the thirst for accumulation of power, greed, anger etc. etc. Modifications of social behavior can only go so far. We may have reached a stopping point in human development. The Clinton/ Obama magic served a useful purpose to get to where we are now. More of the same however could prove to be counter-productive. Why the mass dissatisfaction with the status quo? Because, more of the same can get awfully stale after awhile. Time to move on to the next chapter. It’s amazing how crisis and challenge can change all that stubborn inertia for us. It’s not all doom and gloom. Change can be exciting and meaningful. Out with the old to make way for the new is a very promising, hopeful prospect. Yes? No? Think about it.

Obamacare repeal

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has vowed that the chamber’s first order of business will be starting the process of scrapping President Barack Obama’s health care law.

The Kentucky Republican is making good on that promise this week by bringing to the floor a budget that would unlock a fast-track process enabling Republicans to jam repeal through Congress along party lines.

After the Senate acts, the House will follow suit, as soon as the second week back from the holiday recess. And Republicans hope to clear the budget before Trump’s inauguration.

It’s a matter of when — not if — a repeal bill passes.

Confirmations

The Senate is heading toward a partisan showdown over Trump’s Cabinet. Incoming Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) warned McConnell against scheduling simultaneous confirmation hearings. And Democrats are already turning Rex Tillerson, tapped for secretary of state, into a test case for a broader push to vet the tax returns of Trump’s multi-billionaire cast of advisers.

Thanks to a rules change pushed through by Democrats in 2013, Trump’s non-Supreme Court nominees will need only a simple majority to be confirmed. Given Republicans’ 52-vote majority, that means they can lose as many as two votes even if Democrats succeed in keeping their moderates in the fold on opposing nominees seen as particularly egregious.

The GOP is already prepared to force Democrats’ hand if they try to delay confirmations.

“While Democrats may want to create a new, unprecedented standard for Senate consideration of nominees, they will not be successful,” one Senate Republican aide said. “If they attempt these extraordinary, dilatory tactics, the Senate will confront it with votes potentially at all hours. It’s really up to them.”

Regulatory rollbacks

House Republicans’ schedule for January has a theme: “restoring” and “reclaiming” congressional authority under Article 1 of the Constitution, which they say Obama has whittled away over the past eight years. Now it’s the Hill GOP’s turn to seek revenge on the outgoing president for, as they see it, ignoring Congress while making policy through regulations.

This week, House Republicans plan to pass the “REINS Act,” a measure they’ve been trying to enact for the better part of a decade. It would require congressional approval of any executive-branch regulation that costs more than $100 million. They also intend to approve a so-called “midnight rules” bill that would allow Republicans to repeal a host of Obama-era regulations in clusters using the Congressional Review Act.

Now look at the MCs’ of the charts. 7°28′ Sag for Greenwich, 4°16′ Cap for Istanbul. The difference is in line with the 2 hour difference shown by the difference in longitude for them (remember 15 degree difference for each hour) – 000°00′ for Greenwich, 28°58′ East for Istanbul. LST for each chart 18:18:35 for Istanbul; 16:22:42 for Greenwich – a difference of 1:55:53. That converts to 28°58’15” in degrees – the longitudinal difference between the 2 places. If you do the Istanbul chart for 3 hours different from Greenwich the Sun will not be at 000°00′ of Aries.

More than one astrologer (as mentioned on this blog and elsewhere) have stated the 2017 inauguration chart was very similar to that of 1972. I would rather see Trump go down or be disgraced like Nixon rather than HRC. And we know the R’s would have impeached and possibly convicted Hillary.

But we need be careful here. Jimmy Carter stated he believed Ted Cruz would have been worse than Trump. I agree with him, and would add Mr. Pence as worse than Trump as well.

Trump will likely be unbelievably horrible. Many will suffer and/or die needlessly under his rule. But if we are lucky and the R’s do not impose totalitarian control we’ll have an election in 2020 in which we can hopefully throw these rascals out for good.

Looking at the pro-Trump astrologer links posted, and I can’t honestly speak on why any astrologer would take delight in Trump’s election to POTUS. Maybe they see something in the transits, or in his natal/progressed/SR/harmonic charts that I haven’t, and how it aligns with the US’s charts?

In any case, plenty of people of all sorts have been caught up likes moths to a flame within DT’s cult of personality, so I am reminded that even astrologers aren’t necessarily immune by definition to con men and their ploys. There’s nothing whatsoever that requires anyone to be “spiritually grounded” to interpret and make astrological forecasts, etc. Poseurs and quacks exist in all fields.

I fully see Trump for what he is, and what he represents, and I can see the potential for a far better world that possibly lies on the other side of his reign. To do that, Trump has to work with the Republican congress, many of the leaders people he said horrible things about during the election.

Trump doesn’t play well with others. He thinks we elected him dictator and has no idea the power held by Congress. I see a huge power struggle, them trying to exert their power over him, him sticking it to anyone who tries to get in his way.

Did you see that he kicked the Koch brothers off his golf course over the weekend? It’s already beginning. Traditional Republican influences being insulted by Trump.

I think it’s going to be an incredibly rocky relationship where little, if anything, gets done.

And Democrats have an opportunity to help drive a wedge between the two.

Trying to reach reconciliation with what just happened November 8th is a disturbing process. I couldn’t agree with you more. Reality is just beginning to set in and for whatever reasons we find ourselves mystified even horrified with the potential turbulent ride that lies ahead of us come January 20th.

I’m just thinking out loud here, so even if you disagree, just indulge me……

Has it occurred to you the reason why we feel so uncomfortable with Donald Trump, however eccentric and horrible he may appear to our moral senses, is that he represents a mirror to our shadow side, the ugly parts we would prefer to not look at and rather sweep under the rug? Out of sight – out of mind. We like to think of ourselves as above all these petty things, but look deeper and there are all sorts of gnawing contradictions grinding within us that we can’t quite can’t get a handle on. Impatience, anger, resentment, elitism etc, etc. It’s all there if you are honest and look hard enough.

When Bloomberg Politics recently stuffed Trump supporters into a room and asked them what they like about The Donald, the jowly masses responded:

“He doesn’t care what people think, he tells the truth.”

“He’s in touch with what everybody’s thinking, what everybody wants.”

And the special sauce on the Big Mac…

“He’s one of us. He may be a millionaire, but besides the money issue, he’s still in tune with what everybody wants.”

While the rest of the world views Trump as comic relief in our already laughable political system, the sunburned, overweight mouthbreathers of ‘Murica (whose votes all count equally) have spoken: They like Trump. They think he’s a good guy, a straight-shooter. A regular Joe Dickhead, but you know… also a billionaire. He’s convinced them of the greatest character swindle in American politics: He’s just like you.

It’s the same rhetoric that got George W. Bush elected twice. After all, Bush was just like you, especially if you went to the best schools in Connecticut but for some reason spoke with a Texas accent, and if you owned a baseball team, and if your father was head of the CIA, ambassador to China, Vice President of the United States for eight years, and President for four years. Just like you!

Jerry, my first thought when Trump first began to get traction was “he’s the personification of the ‘ugly American’ ” – the essence of the in-your-face, crass and arrogant traits that the rest of the world dislikes about americans en-masse.

I like what I hear Bernie Sanders saying. He was on Rachel Maddow’s show tonight. There is a focus and purposeful trajectory in his view of the future of the Democratic party.

With transiting Neptune and then trans. Mars conjunct his IC (roots as in grass-roots) in the weeks following the election, along with Bernie’s natal sextile between his Vesta (tireless dedication and focus) in Libra and Chiron (healing of wounds) in Leo, it has activated his natal Yod (natal Vesta, Chiron, IC).

This Neptune-Mars transit recharging Bernie’s natal Yod, when considering the September 2015 solar eclipse at 9+ Virgo, activates a Boomerang kind of pattern. The final release point of the combined energy is Bernie’s MC (reputation, achievement, recognition).

In some magical mix of chess-like plays, Bernie will achieve some important goals in the next couple of weeks which would explain the smile on his face on Inauguration Day (trans. And I also saw his natal chart was very connected to the USA natal Mars. You are so right!! That show was so encouraging last night! I haven’t felt that positive about politics since the election. Rachel said at the end of the show that she wants to have a standing date with Bernie on her show.. great news! Also, Bernie Sanders was with Gov Cuomo yesterday when he announced his plan for tuition free education in NY. I think it is telling that he was with him. I think that the party is making it clear they intend to embrace the progressive wing of the party. I am waiting to see what they do in February with the chairmanship of the DNC.. if they pick Keith Ellison, I will be very encouraged. I know they gave Bernie a leadership position, I was really hoping it wasn’t just a token gesture, so far I am encouraged that it isn’t.

Schumer tells Maddow that Dems will fight tooth and nail to block a SC pick that supports only the rightwing agenda, and that Republicans then won’t get 60 Senate votes they need and may then try to change the rules (which isn’t easy?).

When it comes to our collective, American shadow-side, its probably fair to say that these dark human proclivities are probably universal – even in India and Tibet. Its probably not so fair to claim that we “deserve Donald Trump.” To be even more fair, almost 3M American’s more voted for HRC than DT. What is true is that all Americans will suffer – and so it in that sense, the karma will be shared – but not deserved by 3M more than half of the citizenry.

Also, when it comes to elections in an arguably deeply divided nation of voters, it kind of comes down to the proverbial flip-of-a-coin as to which candidate will win. Ergo, it is somewhat questionable that this medium put forth such “a fascinating, utterly amazing prescient article.”

I get the mystical perspective. Yes, we are all inextricably connected. But for anyone to put forth that we all deserve a president like Trump is over-simplistic. Moreover, it feels like someone rubbing salt in a very fresh wound. It certainly isn’t kind or supportive.

A very sick doctor or nurse cannot be helpful to very sick people. But among all of the Americans who “deserved it” there are some with elevated consciousness and relatively healthy psyches who are not of the far-rabid-right mentality. We can “entertain” dark notions, but it comes down to what we choose to do and how we behave.

No, all of us actually do not deserve Trump. Almost 3M of us in the U.S. chose not to support this “Shadow.” That’s the population of the entire city of Chicago.

BTW, I’m assuming those who are so vociferous in denying Russian hacking, despite the unambiguous conclusions of 17 U.S. intelligence agencies, support a congressional investigation to get at the truth.

In spite of the ominous square between Saturn and Mars on Inauguration Day, a square that incorporates the U.S. square between Neptune and Mars in the U.S. chart (see Nancy’s chart above) which makes it a grand cross for our country and will be effective for the 4 years following, the Democrats have some possibly positive hidden facets in this chart.

The Inauguration chart’s transiting sextile between Saturn in Sagittarius and Jupiter in Libra, a positive aspect for governments and societies in general, becomes a Boomerang pattern where Hillary Clinton’s north and south nodes are concerned.

This appears to incentivize Ms. Clinton’s own evolutionary path since the focal point of the Boomerang, where the sum total of all the combined energy of this pattern is released, is her north node at 23+ Taurus.

Ms. Clinton’s North Node trines the U.S. Neptune. Ms. Clinton’s North Node is in the territory where transiting Sedna has been for 4 or more years. By November this year transiting Ceres will conjunct Ms. Clinton’s natal Pluto-Mars conjunction in Leo.

The influences symbolized by Sedna and Ceres are subtle comparatively speaking, and feminine in nature. Several paths of manifestation can be expected from both of these goddesses, the most likely would be Earth related. Things like GMO products and the trashing of waterways (think Gulf of Mexico disaster) bear their trademarks.

Sedna and Ceres also can symbolize the plight of Women in general, the difficulties of child rearing for single moms for one thing and the duplicity of some men who would take advantage of women for nefarious reasons for another.

I do think there are many Americans who deserve Trump. I see people always saying, God Bless America, and I think, Why? If you believe in God and what he says in the Bible? Why would he bless this country?

Good on ya! Peck is one of my favorite clinicians. People of the Lie is still one of my go-to-books. I co-facilitated a training series on it based upon a special trainer’s manual that Peck also published.

nice quote… I find their truth to be my truth about reality… that life is difficult… but thing I think it still matters…. avoiding difficulties for me usually means scheduling in plenty of OOPS time for confusion and random stuff that delays getting things done..

which usually means lots of emails and conversations which is exactly what’s been going on for me since Tuesday…. email pharmacy… email provider….. email delivery service … conversation with dispatcher, conversation with customer service, conversation with delivery manager all because of their internal dysfunctions…. which caused confusion in simple everyday routine stuff I’ve been doing with them for years and years….

I especially am bothered by the RN who can’t seem to remember my pharmacy and sends refills to the wrong pharmacy again and again…. several half dozen emails between the DR the PA and the RN later the confusion MAY BE LIFTED….

who knows it only medicine that is medically necessary and life saving no biggy ehhhhhhhh!

The Senate began 50 hours of debate on the budget measure, which sets up repeal of much of Obamacare through a separate budget reconciliation bill. Debate on this budget resolution is expected to carry into next week, after which there will be a “vote-a-rama,” when an open-ended number of amendments to the budget resolution will gets votes, creating an opportunity for Democrats to further slow down the process.

The budget resolution is the first in a two-part process to repeal Obamacare. It instructs relevant congressional committees to craft a budget reconciliation bill, which will include language repealing major parts of the law.

Well Jerry, that is quite a dramatic pivot; almost as diametrical as a Trump flip. That DT has loaded his cabinet with sclerotic hard-right ideologues does not persuade me he is an agent of evolved transformation.

I share your intuition. Many others do as well, including Michael Moore. But does your intuition include the R. party as a whole, or merely the Trumpists?

The R. party has become a very sick beast over the decades. If it has to go down, it has to go down. If it goes out of business, c’est la vie.

But I’m profoundly uncomfortable with one party rule. IMHO, the Dem party (as of late) has been less prone to the level of ideological idolatry the R’s have sunk to, but that’s not to say they are without fault. Dems are blind and irrational on SOME issues, just as current day R’s are blind and irrational on MOST issues. We do need balance.

News agencies are reporting that now-retired Sen. Dan Coats will be selected as Donald Trump’s director of national intelligence. Let’s meet him.

Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., wrote four tweets Monday evening in opposition to Donald Trump’s call earlier in the day to prevent all foreign Muslims from entering the United States.

“Once again, Donald Trump has chosen bombastic rhetoric over sound judgment,” Coats tweeted about the leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination.

Whoops, our mistake—those comments were from a year ago. Now Coats has exchanged his last scraps of integrity for pocket change and a ticket on the Trump Train. He’ll be tasked, like so many of Trump’s other nominees, largely with gutting the infrastructure he’s being appointed to.

Mr. Coats, a mild-mannered conservative who served on the Senate Intelligence and Armed Services Committees, would be stepping into a position that some in Mr. Trump’s orbit believe is superfluous.

Mr. Trump has named a more hard-charging conservative, Representative Mike Pompeo, to be his director of central intelligence.

Trump specifically believes the Office of the Director of National Intelligence “has become bloated and politicized.” His distaste for the position, and for much of the rest of the intelligence community, is based on his own (mentally unbalanced) belief that the intelligence community is dumb and he iz smarter than all of them put together, and is based even more on his personal narcissistic pique over intelligence agencies tarnishing his election win by continuing to investigate Russia’s involvement even though he doesn’t want them to.

So Trump’s team is looking to scale back American intelligence agencies until they no longer upset him. That’s the task Dan Coats is signing up for.

Donald Trump’s new Washington hotel, located just blocks from the White House, owes electricians, wood workers and a plumbing and heating business more than $5 million for unpaid labor, according to liens filed against the property with the District of Columbia.

The 263-room hotel, located on the historic site of the city’s former main post office, opened in October following a $212 million renovation of the 1899 structure. The liens were filed in November and December, according to public records.

Trump has acknowledged not always paying all his bills, saying it’s often a negotiating tactic when work is subpar. His companies have been sued numerous times over unpaid work. Among them were landscapers at Riverside South Park in Manhattan, who sued in 2001 seeking $111,000. Contractors at Trump Park Avenue sued in 2003 seeking $206,000. And in 2010 a painter in Chicago sued a Trump entity developing a high-rise claiming to be owed more than $4 million.

The link above leads to an interesting critique about what we are dealing with politically in the social psychological sense. It also reports rural people believe (falsely) that they contribute more in taxes than urban people do.

I too have noticed this strange theology for decades now, that Liberals, Progressives, etc. are somehow tainted, born with some sort of “original sin” but rural folk, farm folk, and conservatives are full of virtue. The early Romantic era fomented the notion of virtuous farm folk and morally compromised “moderns,” especially in the poetry of Robert Burns. But today it is on steroids. It is exponentially more powerful.

I’m not sure where this is coming from. But I speculate it may be from fundamentalist & literalist beliefs which are more prevalent in rural areas and small towns, mixed with the inability to find any sense of meaning within the “modern” paradigm.

Not quite two decades ago, I had a world religious studies student named “David.” He was an older man who during his time attending my classes came down with a brain tumor. Before it eventually killed him, when he was just beginning to get ill, I remember visiting him at his house many times. His progressive minded New Thought wife was there, as well as a number of his rural fundamentalist relatives. I’ll never forget what one of them said to me. She looked at me with a bewildered expression, sadness in her eyes, and with complete and utter sincerity said,

“You’re an educated man, and David thinks so highly of you. Can you tell me…. I mean I don’t understand…..Why do so many of these scientists tell these horrible, terrible lies?”

They really were from a different world, one I only partially (if at all) understand.

I’m not sure of the astrological significance of this, but I note it will occur the same year, 2022, as the Pluto return for our Declaration of Independence. The Pluto return will occur February 10, 2022 with PL (roughly) @ 27 degrees 28 minutes Capricorn. Astronomers do not have a precise date for the red nova. Their calculations only conclude it will pop sometime in 2022.

I can relate to this discussion about rural folks believing progressives are bad. I grew up in rural NC and remember when I was in high school, my father joking to others “if I had a child at UNC -CH (university of NC Chapel Hill) and one in Central Prison, I’d work to get the one out of prison because I’d have more hope for that one.” BTW, my father’s words were prophetic–I graduated from UNC and while in graduate school for social work, my brother was “processed through” Central Prison during his incarceration for drug offenses. There is such a fear of a liberal education.

And I fully relate. (A) I lived in NC for a while.
(B) My parents were not as bad as that, (although my mother was against my getting a good education because she knew a college diploma would enable me to go far away from her.)

But I’ve known so many who took the attitude that education was dangerous because it would “take you away from the Lord!” There are many still who believe you are morally compromised if you’ve earned a BS, BA, or graduate degree. Some of my students have had to contend with that. it is a problem I thought would have ameliorated itself decades ago, but it is still with us.

Just finished watching Micheal Moore’s “Where to Invade Next” on EPIX. It’s excellent. I’m not usually that big of a fan of his movies, although, I do like him a lot, but this one is truly exceptional.

Michael visits other countries around the world showing how they treat their prisoners and citizens. My husband said it made him feel even more ashamed of our country than he was before.

Elisio, what an interesting thought; how astrology might differentiate between rural and city dwellers from a social-political perspective. No doubt there have been theories postulated, even studies by astrologers which I might search for when time allows.

I would assume one would start with the two planets deemed to represent societies; Saturn (contraction) and Jupiter (expansion) and go from there. Setting aside specific religious beliefs, we might assume that city-dwellers might generally be more cosmopolitan in attitude while rural dwellers would generally be more inclined to focus on the local traditions and customs.

Here we can see the protective and insulating (less exposure to the world) qualities coming forth from Saturn’s symbolism for rural dwellers, while the all encompassing characteristics of Jupiter would – in this case – relate to city dwellers.

This of course can be reversed to show city dwellers more exposed to bad elements in society and therefore more cautious (locking doors etc.), a Saturnian characteristic, while those living out in the country, at least in the past, would have less to fear from neighbors and likely be inclined to leave doors open or unlocked, a Jupiterian characteristic.

I suppose then it is a matter of perspective. Let’s say that people in the country are fairly independent of others, and depend on Mother Nature and the earth itself to sustain them. People in cities on the other hand, are less in touch with Nature and more dependent on enterprises (equal to Mother Nature in unpredictability) to provide a source of income. This becomes – for the individual – a difference between independence (an Aries thing) and a more communal or even partnership (Libra) life style.

Since we are talking about individuals who vote and/or make decisions based on attitudes and experience, a pluralistic view would enhance the city dweller’s experience of life whereas an individual living in the country might be less inclined to feel the need to deviate far from his or her own attitudes and practices. This being a very general supposition it still lends itself to the polar opposites found in the signs Cancer (less need for worldliness; a more inner view) and Capricorn (worldliness; a more outer view).

One could also look at it from an elemental perspective; ie. earth (tactile) and water (sense) signs more likely associated with rural living, and air (communicate) and fire (inspiration) signs more likely associated with densely populated living.

I suppose then that astrology might clarify an individual’s reasons for leaving the country life for the big city life or a city dweller escaping to the country for peace and quiet. I’m not so sure that generalizations will work any more as the digital world keeps expanding and information is plentiful and no longer containable in Pandora’s box.

Perhaps the Universal Plan calls for a shift toward a more homogenized perspective, communications opening up even the most remote parts of the world. I will ponder that.

This is far down from where I posted… but I wanted to thank all who responded to me. I appreciate your thoughts and well-wishes. I’m still where I work on this house one day, and lupus lays me low for 2. If I could just get over my generalized fear – especially if SS will be there for me when I have to retire. This is the #1 thing for me. I’m a worry wort from the word “go”… but I’ve never been fearful. That has to stop.
