Wrath of Iran

Tensions are building between Iran and the West. Essentially, much of the world, and especially the US and Israel, is deeply uneasy with Iran’s relentless progress toward nuclear capability. Due to Iran’s ongoing support of terrorist organizations and its fundamentalist and rabidly anti-Western government, global concern over this escalating threat seems legitimate.

Thus far, there have been both covert and direct attempts to thwart Iran’s nuclear development. The Stuxnet worm that burrowed into Iran’s computers and the multiple assassinations of its nuclear scientists, both unofficially attributed to Israel, have slowed but not stopped the advancement of the program. Meanwhile, official Western policy, largely spearheaded by the US, has been focused on economic sanctions, which recently have tightened considerably. Iran, in turn, has threatened to disrupt oil shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and sentenced to death an Iranian-American tourist charged with spying while visiting his grandmothers. Concern is building that a tiny spark in this tense atmosphere could easily ignite an uncontrolled conflagration.

At the moment, we are in that 6-month period that comes every two years when Mars, the planet of aggression, slows down and goes retrograde, thereby intensifying its impact throughout the world. Individuals and countries whose astrological charts are directly impacted by this transit are most susceptible to a dramatic increase in energy in the pursuit of their goals, sometimes leading to violence or confrontation. The Mars station on January 24 will be at 23Virgo05 conjunct President Obama’s Mars (22Virgo35) and square to the US Mars (21Gemini23). This transit alone suggests an increase in agitation and increased assertiveness for the president and country during January and early February.

There is, however, a much more dangerous grouping of configurations during the second half of March with a potential for escalating hostilities. From March 15 through March 22, the transiting Node will be square to the transiting Mars, culminating when Mars is at 7Virgo08. This square will be in a tight aspect to President Obama’s Pluto (6Virgo59) during a month when his progressed Moon will be quincunx to natal Pluto. What this suggests is that in a month when the feeling of a power struggle and distrust is growing for the president (Moon/Pluto), there will be a week (3/15 – 3/22) of extremely angry posturing and aggressive assertiveness, if not violence (Mars/Node), into which he will be drawn.

The week-long Mars/Node square will also be in a minor hard aspect to the progressed Mercury/progressed Mars conjunction in Iran’s chart (21-22 Aries), a progression describing a period of increased belligerence and anger from that nation, building in strength from December 2011 through mid-April 2013. The transiting Node will continue to trigger this progressed conjunction through April 6. Furthermore, there will be a prolonged quincunx of transiting Mars to transiting Uranus, from March 26 through March 31, further extending this period of heightened violence and disruption throughout the world.

The biggest concern about Iran is its existential threat to Israel, a threat which will increase exponentially if Iran develops a nuclear weapon. As the danger to Israel is seen to grow and Israel’s covert actions to diminish that threat increase, tension between these two nations is rising. Thus, it is of great significance that the second half of March also will bring transiting Uranus into a square with Israel’s Venus (4Cancer49) and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Uranus (4Cancer58), while at the same time transiting Saturn will be conjunct Netanyahu’s Sun (27Libra32). We can infer from these configurations that the last two and a half weeks of March will be a time of surprise upsets and transformative and swiftly-moving circumstances in Israel that are very stressful. With transiting Uranus moving to square the Moon in the Iran/Israel composite chart (5Cancer45) from March 29 through April 16, some significant escalation of the agitation between these two nations seems quite likely.

Although a full-blown war seems unlikely at this time, the rhetoric and the skirmishes may bring us closer to the edge of the cliff. A far more treacherous path lies ahead from 2013 through 2015 when the Uranus/Pluto square and several progressions have the potential to exacerbate tensions to the breaking point, especially in early 2015.  What happens to Iran in 2013 and 2014, however, will be especially significant, with Uranus crossing Iran’s natal Sun (11Aries06) and Pluto squaring its Sun. The Iranian government is likely to undergo a great deal of confrontation and face a strong rebellion. Any future trajectory will depend on the outcome of these battles.

    Nancy,

This is a great piece – I am very pleased that you chose to look at the Iranian, American and PBO’s chart with respect to the post. It is both timely and intensely pertinent. I am wondering where you got the skinny on the computer virus/worm that fished the Iranian nuclear data base. That is some fine journalism.

Thank you very much for using your astrological skills and crafting rhetoric in this most interesting article.

On another note, I am hopeful you are feeling much better. Its been a tough season for flu and cold viruses out here on the West Coast.

    Be well

Nancy-thank you for this article. I can tell by the news that this is up right now and is not going to go away. Your thoughtfulness is such a help guiding us to review reality with a higher consciousness not adding to the collective anxiety.

    Today’s primary:

Gingrich has tr Venus quincunx natal Venus later tomorrow and Monday which suggests some preening.

Romney has tr Sun opposite his Saturn this evening through tomorrow evening suggesting a loss. However, Gingrich has tr Sun square natal Saturn during and after the 3/6 Super Tuesday primaries while Romney has strong Venus then, so he will do very well on that day..

Gingrich has strong Venus after the Florida primary so he may do fairly well. Romney goes into strong Mars after Florida so he will be much more aggressive and focused in any debates.

Gingrich may do well until around 2/18 then Romney starts to pick up again.

    • Francis says:

I do not like Gingrich, in fact I have a visceral reaction to him and yet, I have to admit I am very impressed with his ability on stage as a debater and of the synergy he has with the audience. He is a performer, Romney is no match for him on stage. IF the debates were such that the audience was quiet, I do not think Gingrich would perform as well. His magic seems to me to be the synergy with the audience. I wonder if that dynamic shows up in his chart?

      • Noelle says:

Francis, Newt loves to debate. He always has the last word which is usually “gottcha”. Not what we need in a position which requires diplomacy, teamwork, leadership, etc. I’ll be glad to see him nosedive soon and am grateful to Starlight that we know this.

Great – three more weeks of the serial adulterer.

I think it’s a conspiracy for all of us, Democrats and Republicans alike to BEG for Romney to cinch the nomination early. Unfortunately Mr. flip flop Pisces can’t keep straight on a policy. Unfortunately for the repubs. Good thing for PBO’s re-election.

  7. Francis says:

I’m wondering if the Mars stimulation will translate more into election mashinations than international stress? The oil pipeline and SOPA/ PIPA seem to me more immediate than building tensions in the ME, right now at least. I’m also wondering if the tension in Israel is more domestic related regarding the role of women in society v orthodox Judaism, at least at this juncture?

    • kdez says:

I also wondered if the sq tr Uranus to Israel’s Venus would trigger the ongoing tension between the aggressively anti-woman ultra-conservatives and, well, everyone else in the country. These ultra-orthodox communities do not serve in Israel’s armed forces, either – ordinary people are getting pretty fed up with them.

    Catholic Denial of Astrology

    • andre says:

Will, it is well known, or should be, the Three Magi were in fact Babylonian astrologers and the Star of Bethlehem was the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in Pisces around 4 B.C. The date for Catholic Easter changes every year because it is calculated from the first full moon after the spring equinox. Christmas is on the date of the Winter solstice, or what it was thought to be in early medieval times. It goes on and on. Catholicism is nothing but astrology. For Catholic bishops to deny it now is not only laughable, it is actually suicidal because they are pulling out the roots of their own religion. Astrology predates Roman Catholicism and I believe it will outlive it. Any religion embraced by deceivers such as Tony Blair and Newt Gingrich is reaching the end of the line in my book, and is no better than Scientology’s desperate use of celebrities such as Tom Cruise and John Travolta.

      • will says:

Indeed, Andre. Indeed! There are actual large zodiacal wheels created of multi-colored laid marble within the private palaces of the Vatican itself.

    • pisca says:

The Pope designated astrology a “sin” hundreds of years ago. Little is known about the Vatican’s observatory but it’s existence is documented. In fact one of the Pope Gregory’s (ala Gregorian calendar) observations that planetary time was not consistent with man-made time led to the designation of Easter’s date (first Sunday after first full moon of Spring). The Catholic hierarchy holds its secrets in their golden vaults and definitely doesn’t want to share such info with its sheep; but it must be scary times for them. I have seen the current Pope Benedict’s chart and believe that he is well aware of his undoing as 2014 approaches. Sorry no links but the (other) history of Catholicism is a story of outlandish hypocrisy.

      • andre says:

Astrotabletalk had Benedict’s chart online about a month ago. 2014 looks like his passing. The main claims to fame of this ultra-conservative reactionary pope are: 1. He was in the Hitler Youth as a teenager; 2. as a cardinal his full-time job was covering for pedophile priests; 3. as pope he has stoked inter-faith tensions (stealing Anglican ministers away and allowing them to keep their wives while priests still can’t marry, enflaming relations with Moslems and Jews, and breaking the dialogue with the Dalai Lama his predecessor had initiated). Oh, and as far as I know he is the first pope to be sued in an international criminal court. What a positive contriubution to world history from someone who should have known much better. Beacause of him and those who suppport him the Roman Catholic Church is headed for a huge fall before Pluto reaches the end of Capricorn.

    • cimbalok says:

When I clicked on that link I got a screaming error message, “Access Denied”.

This is what I was told about astrology & Catholicism: after Pope J2P2 was shot in 1981, he never went anywhere without consulting an astrologer.

This is what I believe: that there is no way Jesus was a Capricorn. A Leo maybe, because he was a king, a Gemini maybe because he communicated all those radical ideas, a Pisces (less likely) because he was born when the age of Pisces started. Capricorn? Executive, businessman, bottom-liner, goat-fish? Not bloody likely!

      • will says:

        cimbalok,

I watched a fascinating in-depth program regarding the actual date of the Nativity. Because Jesus’ parents Mary and Joseph had traveled to Bethlehem in order to pay their taxes, it is more likely that Christ was born under the sign of Aries – as this was the time of the year when taxes were due under Roman occupation.

        NBC’s Stone Phillips

As we head into the holiday season, we hope tonight’s report on the birth of Jesus helped enrich your understanding and appreciation of the Christmas story.

Some two billion Christians worldwide will celebrate the holiday this year. While most Americans believe December 25th is the actual birth date of Jesus, most biblical scholars believe his birth probably took place in the spring. A recent poll finds that more than two-thirds of Americans accept the entire Nativity story, as historically accurate.

With this report, we’re not trying to challenge or change anyone’s beliefs. We just wanted to take one more look at this revered and much-beloved story to learn more about the theology and the history behind it .

The birth of Jesus changed the world. But over the past two centuries, the telling of the story has also changed. We turned to experts of history, theology and religious studies. The aim is to shed a new, fuller light on the birth of a child believers call the “Light of the World.”

From Reuters, Let’s Make A Deal:

Jan 19 (Reuters) – U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and Lanny Breuer, head of the Justice Department’s criminal division, were partners for years at a Washington law firm that represented a Who’s Who of big banks and other companies at the center of alleged foreclosure fraud, a Reuters inquiry shows.

The firm, Covington & Burling, is one of Washington’s biggest white shoe law firms. Law professors and other federal ethics experts said that federal conflict of interest rules required Holder and Breuer to recuse themselves from any Justice Department decisions relating to law firm clients they personally had done work for.

Both the Justice Department and Covington declined to say if either official had personally worked on matters for the big mortgage industry clients. Justice Department spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler said Holder and Breuer had complied fully with conflict of interest regulations, but she declined to say if they had recused themselves from any matters related to the former clients.

Reuters reported in December that under Holder and Breuer, the Justice Department hasn’t brought any criminal cases against big banks or other companies involved in mortgage servicing, even though copious evidence has surfaced of apparent criminal violations in foreclosure cases.

The evidence, including records from federal and state courts and local clerks’ offices around the country, shows widespread forgery, perjury, obstruction of justice, and illegal foreclosures on the homes of thousands of active-duty military personnel.

In recent weeks the Justice Department has come under renewed pressure from members of Congress, state and local officials and homeowners’ lawyers to open a wide-ranging criminal investigation of mortgage servicers, the biggest of which have been Covington clients. So far Justice officials haven’t responded publicly to any of the requests.

While Holder and Breuer were partners at Covington, the firm’s clients included the four largest U.S. banks – Bank of America, Citigroup, JP Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo & Co – as well as at least one other bank that is among the 10 largest mortgage servicers.

  16. sonya says:

It’s going to be a long campaign and I think unlike 2008 which helped Obama grow stronger, this time around it’s going to make the nominee, I still believe that it will be Romney, weaker because Newt/Mitt will tear each other apart. Mitt has a glass jaw, is out of touch, has no record to stand on (in his speech tonight he gave up on his Bain experience of creating jobs but is now touting that just making money is success. He is the Kim Kardasian of American politics. Be famous for doing absolutely nothing). He isn’t a good debater, nor stump speaker, nor authentic. He now has a tax issue and is being pegged as a Gordon Gecko 1%. The thing he had going for him in a general was his moderate stance.

In order to overcome Newt, Mitt will be dragged further to the right to satisfy the blood lust of the teabaggers. This means that independents and some democrats who tought that a Romney presidency would be benign will be more shocked at his positions and strong lack of core convictions. I think Romney is going to be weaker than McCain.

The difference in the margin of victory for Obama is greater this year than I had orginial thought. But Obama will not get the same level of turnout as he did in 2008. I think as of today, Obama will win the general by 4 points. He beat McCain in 2008 by 7 points.

    • Francis says:

Sonya, I like your sense of politics. I am curious about many people who post regularly as so many of us seem to be very interesting people. I am curious about your background and what you draw from to make your conclusions and if you have a regular column somewhere? Thanks.

      • sonya says:

Francis thanks for the inquiry. No, I don’t have a blog or column. I just grew up in a very political family. My mother was very involved in the Civil Rights movement in the 50′s and 60′s. I graduated college with a dual major in Political Science and English literature with a minor in Psychology. I’ve worked in various state governments until I became disabled. I’ve always been fascinated on how to effect system wide change for the betterment of people and communities.

I met Obama in 2007 at an Atlanta Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). This is an African-American civil rights organization. SCLC was closely associated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who was the first president of the organization.

Anyway, I spoke with Obama for a few minutes and sat two tables away. I guess I was impolite by staring at him throughout the dinner. He gave a moving speech at the dinner. And I have followed his career ever since.

The end of Benedict’s reign supposedly paves the way for “Petraeus Romanus” or Peter the Roman–the last pope–to come into power. This is according to the prophecy of St. Malachi. Wonder how much astrology factors into it? It certainly does seem that they are at a major crossroads over the next several years.

    • Lorrie U says:

I read somewhere that the date of the last pope was omitted and that there may be other popes between Benedict and the last pope that were not named, so there is some cloudiness about the prediction.

A brief snippet about a key Apple supplier …

The facility has 230,000 employees, many working six days a week, often spending up to 12 hours a day at the plant. Over a quarter of Foxconn’s work force lives in company barracks and many workers earn less than $17 a day. When one Apple executive arrived during a shift change, his car was stuck in a river of employees streaming past. “The scale is unimaginable,” he said.

Foxconn employs nearly 300 guards to direct foot traffic so workers are not crushed in doorway bottlenecks. The facility’s central kitchen cooks an average of three tons of pork and 13 tons of rice a day. While factories are spotless, the air inside nearby teahouses is hazy with the smoke and stench of cigarettes.

Foxconn Technology has dozens of facilities in Asia and Eastern Europe, and in Mexico and Brazil, and it assembles an estimated 40 percent of the world’s consumer electronics for customers like Amazon, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Motorola, Nintendo, Nokia, Samsung and Sony.

“They could hire 3,000 people overnight,” said Jennifer Rigoni, who was Apple’s worldwide supply demand manager until 2010, but declined to discuss specifics of her work. “What U.S. plant can find 3,000 people overnight and convince them to live in dorms?”

    End snippet …

With this information in tow, is it any wonder that the US Middle Class is in decline and the US workforce is struggling and in denial about the state of the world today?

    Enjoy!

Does US Senate Commit Treason with NDAA Bill?

The fact that this bill was written by Carl Levin, an acknowleged civil rights attorney, with language so vague, constitutes what can only be described as premeditated fraud–and serves as poignant testimony to the cowardly and treasonous nature of the US Senate in 2011. It is ironic that the majority of senators are attorneys who would never sign on to the flimsy and vague criterion they have imposed on everyone else.

The use of our own military against our citizens to police and force compliance in a presidential/military dictatorship, complete with powers to wage endless war—is nothing short of a military/political coup—an act of treason. In short, the US Senate and the House of Representatives—are in the process of establishing a military dictatorship. Any senators or congressman supporting this or merely remaining silent are as guilty as Levin, McCain, Graham and McKeon. As Dr. King explained, there comes a time when silence equals betrayal.

Off topic I know. Forgive me for jumping the gun on this but as most of you already know, on Feb 3 Neptune crosses over into Pisces. I know a lot of folks think of Neptune and roll their eyes, which is perfect! Nevertheless, Neptune has quite a powerful influence. Neptune is the virtuosos player of all our heart strings. He/she will bring empathic attention to the suffering poor and unemployed in America and will bring a favorable light to socialistic programs and by the time Neptune leaves Pisces the world be quite a different place when it comes to the place of oil in the world. Frankly, I’m excited and feeling very hopeful. Of course Neptune also rules delusion and perhaps I’m a bit afflicted. Fingers crossed for the next 14 years!

    • andre says:

Neptune in Pisces will make the oceans front page news, just as Neptune in Aquarius was the golden age of astronomy and brought us a renewed sense of wonder at the vastness and beauty of the Universe. Neptune in Aquarius also made us all love technology at an unprecedented level. We sure love those Iphones. It turned that technology into a mainstay of the world community of the brotherhood of mankind. There are now new ties that bind, and protest movements everywhere are one. Neptune in Pisces will be the leap of true faith in the human heart beyond technology.

  22. Jackson says:

I’ll be glad when Neptune moves into Pisces, because Neptune in Aquarius has been abysmal for popular music. Neptune in Scorpio started with Elvis signing with RCA Victor and finished with the Beatles breaking up, and sojourns through Sagittarius and Capricorn were fertile periods for a lot of great music, too. But the past 14 years have been terrible.

    • will says:

You got me on “buttnuggets.” Too good!

      • NEOBuckeye says:

When I think of Neptune in airy Aquarius, for some reason Britney Spears is the first thing that comes to my mind. Air is intellectual and high-minded at its best, but can be vapid, trite and superficial at its worst. In popular music, during Neptune’s transit of Aquarius, this seems to have translated into words often expressed that are deeply lacking in conviction and soul.

Maybe the rise of British singer Adele symbolizes Neptune’s plunge into watery, deep-feeling and sensitive Pisces? At its worst, however, Neptune in his home sign will bring us a ton of illusions/delusions and escapism. Probably, we will see a lot of longing for better times or circumstances that are more perfect in our dreams than they could ever be in real life.

It’s not much of a hope, but if they delay, all their missile defenses will be wiped out by h.a.r.m. radar-seeking missiles, and their military and civilian infrastructure will be given the same treatment as Iraq’s and Yugoslavia’s. On the other hand, if they launch a swarm of shore-to-ship missiles with a simultaneous volley of Shkvall supercavitating torpedoes, they could sink much of the US fleet and seriously impair the impending blitzkrieg.

I have a better idea than such mindless bloodshed: general strike, opposing the wars.

    • Sharon says:

Hmmmm — if they strike first, I think there will be an even worse & catastrophic retaliation…

  31. Jerry says:

The exact Nodes-Mars t square in mid March (9 Gemini-Sagittarius-Virgo) falls precisely on the Euro currency’s natal Pluto (1/1/99 Brussels) at 9 Sag. Could this indicate a collapse in the Euro and its subsequent economic repercussions in world financial markets? That would certainly be the game-changer. In a climate of turmoil, it’s not hard to imagine Israel feeling emboldened to make a pre-emptive military strike against Iran.

Celeste Teal provides a definition of the transiting nodes conjunct natal Pluto. The third paragraph may best aptly describe the crisis the Euro currency is currently facing:

    Nodes/Pluto

Links of Pluto with one of the nodes is quite dynamic. Pluto is associated with new strength in confronting and overcoming limitations while the nodes also time periods of exceptional strength in facing situations once and for all. Together, they show a time of reckoning with deep and powerful psychological issues.

Because the nodes are reflective of lunar qualities associated with the domestic environment, paired with Pluto, they often translate into literal transformations or reorganization taking place within the home or family unit. Circumstances are often somewhat tumultuous in the home, and/or renovations are taking place. There is a “coming to terms” with inner needs.

This Pluto link also brings termination and times the closure of significant issues, especially if there have been conflicts of interest. Immovable force meets with immovable force, and a collision of interests often results in a victory for one and defeat for another. A previous set of circumstances is rearranged upon a new foundation. Pluto is often involved with the nodes when divorce occurs. Together, this pair is significant of sexual issues of all kinds and it has been found linked to rape. There are death and rebirth situations, and an actual death could occur. This combination has been found to be a significant factor in suicides, overdoses, and murder, as well as hold ups, shootings, and other personal attacks.

These Pluto/node connections are also linked to both kidnappings and forced custodial changes. Relating to reproduction, the pairing may also coincide with miscarriages, abortions, and vasectomies.

The link of the nodes with Pluto is significant also of new enterprise and of financial matters. The house ruled by Pluto should also be considered in judging the probable area of life that comes into focus.

In addition to the changes initiated or encountered by the individual with a node/Pluto contact, on a larger scale it can be witnessed to produce a change in consciousness by the masses when it is the transiting node upon the natal Pluto of a generation.

Several years ago I was curious about the steps necessary to gain admittance to the vatican library. I knew that it would be a challengeing process, but didn’t know how many hoop-jumps I would need to make. In fact it’s highly unlikely that any one of us would have the necessary qualifications. Or, if we were able to gain access, it would be to focus on ONE issue only, one that was preapproved by an oversite board.

    Hi,
I live in South Carolina, and I’ve been trying hard to figure out what is was about Newt that got such conservative voters to support a 3X married, at least 2X admitted adulterer, and I really think it’s his anger.
He is really angry, and he’s good at being really angry. Voters have been fed a steady diet of outrage for three year by Fox News & all, and they are really angry, too.
Newt showed them that he gets it by being as angry as they are. That was the connection, I believe.
Romney looks so cool (as in almost cold) and passionless. It makes him seem even more out of touch, and he doesn’t look like a man who knows how to fight.
Conservatives want a big, mean, nasty fight, and they look at Newt and listen to him and think, This man could give Obama a mean, nasty fight.

    • clymela says:

      Teresa,
I so agree with you and I think that it is all of us who are being manipulated into “a mean, nasty fight”. When I watch TV (YES!! I admit I do watch the tube)I am surprised by the meanness and the anger in even the ads. when I put this together with the banks holding back on the loans needed to get us moving again I must say that I wonder is this is orchestrated.(Okay and I admit too to just a modicum of paranoia)

Horrific history. Unfortunately, after the decline of the Roman Empire, the Church was virtually the only organizing principle remaining in western civilization. The Church found itself involved in increasingly more secular activities until it became more and more a governing body, open to all manner of worldly vices and political corruption.

As a practicing Catholic, it is difficult to remain focused and meditative upon the actual teachings of Christ vs. the political machinations of The Vatican.

      • Wennye' Edwards says:

They have this to say about President Obama (year of the Ox) “If he can manage to stay mum, President Barack Obama should have a decent year ahead. Natural disasters will take a break, save a few earthquakes. And, real estate could very well bounce back.”

  38. starlight says:

pam – Jeb Bush does not have a prayer for this year. Forget it. I continue to think Romney will get enough of a mojo back to get the nomination. If not and Gingrich gets it, it is a guaranteed loss for the GOP. If Romney gets it, I think it is a likely loss but not as certain.

    • Lorrie U says:

For some reason, though, the DNC wants to run against Romney rather than Gingrich, so they must know something we don’t.

      • NEOBuckeye says:

Romney is an easy target for the DNC. He’s a real life Wall Street Gordon Gekko who has lived a fairly insulated life, making his fortune through raiding and pillaging companies. He has never been on the receiving end of such practices. He has never had to go home to his family and tell them that has been laid off and that they are going to have to drastically alter their lifestyle to survive while he spends weeks, months or even years looking and waiting for more work.

He flaunts his ignorance about the problems and experiences of working class men and women every time he opens his mouth, giving Obama more and more material to use against him. His own party has never warmed to him and does not trust him. Evangelicals don’t support his Mormon beliefs, believing them to be a counterfeit form of Christianity. Southern Conservatives think he is too liberal because he is from New England and was Governor of Massachusetts. The Tea Party has embraced his rivals, Gingrich and Ron Paul.

If I am on Obama’s campaign, I would thoroughly and relentlessly exploit Romney’s weaknesses and the divisions within his party, using them to our advantage. So much of what Romney has done during his career is simply indefensible for a man who wants to lead the nation during a time of crisis. His character and competency to do the job are undoubtedly in question.

      • sonya says:

No, the would smile on their political fortunes if Newt would win the nomination. His unfavorable rating is 59% since the mid 90′s. The Obama campaign has always believed that Mitt would get the nod and is the tougher of the two to beat. But it’s getting easier as Mitt has painted himself as the embodiment of the 1%.

Newt really seems to be taking his toll on Romney right now, and if he stays around until mid-February like you believe… wow, should leave the GOP with a crippled Romney.
Was reading some brief thing about Obama and the year of the Dragon, and it said basically, he’ll be fine if he keeps his mouth shut.
Made me think if Obama just sits back and watches, the Repugs will destroy themselves. (Okay, they’ve been doing a good job, but looks like they’re in fast-destruction mode now.)

  39. will says:

    Lorrie,

I watched the Stansberry Investment video; I have grave reservations about this guy – he is selling Chicken-Little scenarios and even throwing in some psychological terminology to sell it. He is also using a cheap, con-man tease by seducing the viewer/listener by repeatedly claiming that he will ‘get to the strategies in a moment, but before doing so, goes into yet more apocalyptic scenarios that could also not at all come to be. I don’t put this on you, Lorrie – but I hate these kinds of merchants of fear, doom and gloom.

There is hardly an American alive who doesn’t realize that our nation, our states and our economy are in dire straits. Nonetheless, so are the economies of almost every other nation in the world. There are also gaping holes in his arguments about why corporations are not investing in America – hell, we just had our Supreme Court rule that Corporations should be treated like people – nay, better than people. He also uses quotes from quite a few “experts” whose names I’ve never heard.

Thank you for posting it though – it just helps to sharpen our critical thinking abilities.

    • Lorrie U says:

I find that everything stated is truth, nothing is projected on conjecture, and contains info I have known for some time. In fact, the real reason for our getting involved in Iraq was to prevent the Euro from becoming the world’s reserve currency instead of the dollar. I haven’t seen the entire video to the end, so you might be right that he’s trying to sell something, I don’t know, but the information is accurate. This was advertised during the Dylan Ratigan show on MSNBC, who is rather radical himself, but it may take radical people to turn this ship around.

  40. will says:

    Lorrie,

PS – The clincher for me with Stansberry is that he won’t narrate/show his four simple solution strategies at the end of this video – instead, he wants us to write him and subscribe to essentially subscribe to his services. This is a bait-and-switch sales con at its most unvarnished form.

    • Lorrie U says:

I don’t think it’s necessary to participate in his strategies or subscribe to his services. The info offered is valuable enough, and how we deal with it is our choice, but we do need to be prepared to see the demise of the Federal Reserve Bank and a new world currency take over, as has been predicted in Matthew’s Messages for quite some time. I believe that’s what Pluto in Capr. will ultimately bring about, and it might be ultimately what’s best. Who knows?

      • Jerry says:

        Lorrie,

With a little tinkering, I found that the entire Stansberry text appears when re-loading the URL link in the internet address box. Just try re-loading it and see what happens.

I think Will nailed it. This seems to be a not so well concealed, self-promoting marketing advert. The premise is way off in any case. In the event of an economic collapse, because of todays complete global interdependence, the entire supply chain reliant on money and the fuel required to transport all of our goods and services will rapidly disintegrate and come to an abrupt halt within several days to a week at most. At least that is the conclusion I have read from a number of sources.

We may be forced to reorient our approach if we are ever to successfully meet the dramatic challenges that lie ahead. I think the following video sums it all up…….

And can you believe RTW (for less) Indiana governor Mitch Daniels has been selected to give the Republican response AND is being urged to jump in the race?! Nancy, any chance of that happening?

    • sonya says:

No one will be jumping in the Republican race unless their is a brokered convention. Too late to get on most of the states primary ballots. Even Newt missed a few. I agree with Starlight that Mitt is the odds on favorite still to win the nomination. But he will be bloodied and severely bruised.

  46. Sharon says:

I’m very tiredso I didn’t proof the above but you get the idea! Boehner used a lot of energy last night trying to look composed but his expression was largely a combination of irritated and depressed with maybe a little fear in there.

    • Francis says:

at times it looked to me as if he was looking for a signal from someone for those times when he didn’t know whether to clap or not.

      • sonya says:

Yes, exactly Francis. I thought both Boehner and Cantor used extreme energy to stay composed but Cantor had a sly devilish look on face at one point and Boehner looked clueless.

        • Sharon says:

I think Boehner was using almost all of his energy to try to maintain a neutral expression because of the fact that he was on camera the entire time! However, his emotions showed through somewhat. He has a split personality – the emotional crier and the tough ruthless Republican — but there is also the sensible, pragmatic side. Isn’t he a Cancerian or something like that?

  47. starlight says:

Boehner looked like he was sucking on a lemon for the whole speech.

Francis – I am having a hard time reading the congressional charts for after the election. That being said, I would definitely not rule out that Pelosi gets back in the game with some force. Uranus will be conjunct her Sun and semisquare her Venus, while converse Mars will be conjunct her Sun, all very strong in September, October, December, January and early February. The converse Mars/Sun goes through early 2014. So she will not be going quietly. She may get a rebirth of some significant power (Sun/Mars).

He seems to be crying for himself, not the country or anyone else. Kind of disturbing, huh?

And when it comes to Eric Cantor – Holy Moses! He gives the whole of Judaism a black eye. Grief, how could he be Jewish and be so terribly misled and horrible? Who bar mitzvahed this boyczek? Find his mohel and have him give Eric his schmuck back – he is a dickless creep.

What worries me about Gingrich is that he is a very good orator, and is just cagey enough to stir up populist sentiment which is raging now just below the surface I suspect in many less educated, lower income Tea Party types who have been laid off or have watched their wages stagnate or even go down. I see him trying to pin the “soulless super rich” tag on Romney as an out of touch greedhead only interested in himself and earning unconsionable profits. Might work!!

    Will

You really need to loosen up and express how you really feel about things! Yes, as a (non-observant, agnostic) person born Jewish, he is a real embarrassment to me, and of course the entire human species. It says a lot about our culture when he was just called the most powerful person in Washington DC by some (forgot which) major mainstream magazine (more so than Obama!).
    Major Barf material.

  52. sonya says:

Newt is no Huey Long and Eric Cantor looks like a transexual.

      Too funny!

    • Sharon says:

Have to put it in perspective. I’ve said this before here: Obama cannot afford to alienate too many by risking being painting as an ultra Liberal. He has to be careful because the masterful Republican message machine is too ruthless and skillful (all of these death threats are not idle) —- AND if Liberals had realized that and not stayed home last Nov., busy criticizing our president, instead of realizing the predicament he was in. The Dems took the risk of going left with the Obamacare which was way to easy to depict as the dreaded S word: socialism. The medium IS the message and people believe-especially the racists among us of which there are many (who do not admit it). Now, with the Republicans having more power, Obama has to be even more clever, cagey, careful, as well as the rest of the Democrats. Why cannot people see that???? We have to reflect what the country believes even if they are totally fooled, bamboozled and misguided. At the same time, the Republicans are really just being excellent businessmen/marketers/salespeople. When it comes down to it, they are people with hearts but who have to promote some sort of extreme message to regain power and protect the monied classes. I actually think Boehner’s tears are real. He is an honest-to-goodness sentimental guy who grew up in a kind of Cheers-bar environment with people who were real and the salt of the earth. But that’s not all he is – he is also someone who adapted a certain ideology part of which is based on the good, old-fashioned Horatio Alger American dream. If the Democrats could just combined ideologies and promote individual success, a Western value, along with helping those less fortunate, we’d have an amazing country.

      • Lorrie U says:

        Well said. Thanks!

      • Helen says:

It’s just hard for me to believe that at this point in time anybody would still have the idea that the monied class would be uniquely in the sphere of the Republicans. Robert Sheer did an excellent job pointing out that both parties have transformed into puppets for corporations and Wall Street. We have ONE party: the party the works for them, not us: the Dems and Repubs magically work together when they pass treasonous legislation like the recent indefinite detention act.

Nobody is changing minds here. Good luck in the next four years, then.

  53. Francis says:

In an interview McCain said this about the Citizens United decision which he said is shameful, “I predict to you there will be a major scandal associated with the Supreme Court decision on Citizens versus United. There is too much money washing around,” he said.” I am very intrigued about this and guessing he thinks money was exchanged for votes. I’m thinking Scalia, Mr. Framer’s Intent because, at least in my mind, Scalia voted to install another right which the Framers never intended. It always seemed like a hypocritical decision but no one ever called him on it and no one ever explained to me how it wasn’t a hypocritical decision for him to make. If money was given in exchange for votes I pray to Pluto it comes out now!

    • karen says:

      You got that right, Francis!

    • Sharon says:

I’m proud of John McCain for that — even though he did not stand up and clap when Obama talked about immigration reform. (He did have a little smile though.) I can’t help but love the fact that John McCain, in spite of his flaws, stands up for his truth! He is a Virgo that always seemed like an Aquarius to me. I think he has some Aquarius influences in his chart.

As far as the One Party problem — I think things are going to change. I don’t know how but they will, especially with the Uranus-Pluto aspects. However, the dilemma is that the politicians with the money can afford advertising and propaganda and can control the populace, so they all compete and schmooze up their donors so they can have more and better commercials, etc. That is the main problem and Citizens United made it worse. Even someone like Ron Paul has to rely on donations and what about Nader? Maybe he did not. It would be surprising if he relied on any corporate money.

      • Helen says:

Nader made these comments on Democracy Now on the recent SOTU speech (and he’s written a new book):

        http://www.democracynow.org/2012/1/25/he_says_one_thing_and_does

        • kiwi says:

Helen, Ralph Nader’s glory days are long gone. His message to stay home at election time is absolute lunacy and akin to his last run at the presidency – his only success was splitting the gore vote handing the 2000 election to bush – and look what that got everyone! Nader is a ranter out for himself (current statements are to peddle his new book.)
Obama picks his fights strategically and pragmatically with the long term big picture in mind. Most of the things Nader rants omit the fact that Obama has to work with an obstructionist legislative majority, and is not a majic dictator calling all the shots. It’s thanks to people like nader talking up the staying home message last election that Obama has not been able to get support to do more!! On that front, I regard Nader’s message as dangerous for all.

The March 22nd New Moon Re-visited.
    Hi Nancy,

In the current thread you wrote:

“…There is, however, a much more dangerous grouping of configurations during the second half of March with a potential for escalating hostilities. What this suggests is that in a month when the feeling of a power struggle and distrust is growing for the president (Moon/Pluto), there will be a week (3/15 – 3/22) of extremely angry posturing and aggressive assertiveness, if not violence (Mars/Node), into which he will be drawn.”

In the March 22nd New Moon chart (set for Tehran) I submitted about a month ago (refer to the following chart: http://i44.tinypic.com/20a5bbo.gif ); I thought it interesting to note that there was an exact Mars-Chiron opposition precisely on President Obama’s natal Pluto. What’s your take on the properties of Chiron? A number of astrologers have written articles on the mystery of this enigmatic planetary body – “the bridge between Saturn and Uranus” (the tangible to the intangible) as Barbara Hand Clow likes to phrase it. Here’s one analysis that I found especially poignant. An excerpt reads as follows…..

Chiron in Pisces/ Surrendering to the Wounded Healer

“….Chiron is therefore associated with phrases like “the Wounded Healer” and “the wound that never heals.” There are some tragedies, crises and abuses from which our human nature cannot completely recover. That doesn’t mean we have to let those wounds define us or consume us, but there is a certain quality to our experience of these things that cannot simply be wiped away. We carry the memory of that pain to some extent, and for some people that pain is never very far away from their here-and-now consciousness. For some of us, Chiron represents a more profound and persistent wound than for others.

Chiron represents a tricky dilemma in which a complete solution to the problem is often not possible, and yet the difficulty in the situation makes it necessary to do something about it. Caught between the proverbial rock and the hard place, what is one to do? It’s all in how you frame the experience. Rev. Dr. Brent Hawkes once said, “In this life you may not be healed of the disease, but you can be healed of its hold over you.” Chiron solutions are the perfect embodiment of the Serenity Prayer: “God grant me serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”

This is the essence of Chiron’s wise healing. The mythological Chiron did not simply retreat into his cave and suffer. First, he did everything he could to see what could be done about it, by learning even more about the healing arts. Then, even when it became clear that nothing was going to eradicate the problem completely, he still didn’t simply retreat. He taught and mentored many of the great Greek heroes and healers: Jason, Peleus, Asklepios, Aristaios and Akhilleus.

It’s not that nothing can be done for these deep wounds, but it’s a bit like pulling up a weed – a piece of the root often remains even after we think we have disposed of it all. This is usually an important influence in shaping who we are, and is just as fundamental to our spiritual and psychological growth as any feel-good, optimistic or inspiring experience can be.

Chiron astrologically is our persistent wound and also points to how to apply some healing to it. In a way, Chiron is not just the Wounded Healer, but also the Wound-ing Healer. It represents the area of life where you have suffered in some way that never seems to get complete resolved. And yet, it is also the area where you will find the most healing by allowing yourself to fully accept the reality of your experience in that area. Through acceptance of the problem, we usually find that we can progress further than if we simply fight the problem. Chiron is the ironic aspect of transformation.

Thank you for this, Jerry. I have natal Chiron exactly square Neptune (28 Cap-28 Libra). Saturn is there now in my 10th house. In the Sixties, Chiron was conjunct natal Mars and tr. Saturn in my fourth house opp. the Uranus-Pluto conjunction. I lived through traumatic family issues then from which I never fully recovered but which gave me a capacity for greater compassion for the more vulnerable and poorly treated members of society. I have Barbara Hand Clow’s book. Chiron can be so important, and its discovery is in my view an important milestone in the history of astrology. In a few years, Uranus will square my natal Chiron and oppose Neptune and will make a grand cross in cardinal signs with my Jupiter-Uranus conj. in Cancer. Soon after, Pluto will conjunct natal Chiron. I don’t know what to expect, but I think I will pray often as that time comes near.

The SEC Mulls An Investigation Calls Grow For John Boehner To Resign

The complaint specifically highlights that TransCanada asserts that the pipeline will create American jobs “at a rate that is 67 times higher than job creation totals given by the company to Canadian officials for the Canadian portion of the pipeline.” The inflated job creation numbers were designed to pressure President Obama to issue an approval permit to build the pipeline and without its construction, TransCanada’s future earnings and share prices will be significantly impacted. Speaker Boehner owns shares in seven different Canadian tar sand companies and it is highly likely that he knows the job numbers are inflated as an investor and stands to profit if the pipeline is built. Boehner went so far as threatening to tie 160 million working Americans’ payroll tax cut extension to approval of the pipeline. Boehner’s extortion threats were the last straw, and inspired a national petition to force him to resign or face expulsion from Congress for ethics violations. However, ethics violations are the least of Boehner’s problems once the SEC finishes their investigation which they confirmed is actively under consideration.
